Diablo here is the Prime Evil. He is fused with the soulstone which had the essence of all 6 other demon lords. At this point...only way an Archangel stands a chance is if he fuses with all of the Archangels to be some sort of Prime Angel to be a fair fight.

Where were the other arcangels? It's a little silly to me to have a demon marching through heaven and be met by just ONE angel

They could be the types to think Imperious should handle it and if he cant then he wasn’t worthy, and it is below them to bother with it. In Diablo 4 they seem completely indifferent to what happens to sanctuary, what happens to the only angel left there, etc. There isn’t even the slightest pretense of them caring at all.

If you look at the background during the Diablo fight, the high heavens are all kinds of fucked up. If it wasn't for the nephalem, they would've fallen, and there would be nothing to stop it.

Please no. Movies based on games always end up terribly. You cant squeeze years of lore into a 2 hour script. Even as good as LOTR was based on the book, if you read the books the lore is so so so so so so much deeper even a 9 hour film series can’t manage to cover like 20% of it.

kinda makes sense tho if you think about it. diablo in this form has the strength of all the 3 greater and 4 lesser evils. one archangle of the angiris council wouldnt fare well against that. realistically speaking

Atleast if the entire angiris council ganged up on him, they might've had a chance. But I don't really expect logic from diablo story telling. Diablo 4 was somewhat disappointing too.

At the time no archangel really knew where he was as he was waiting to get the black Soulstone, giggling in the dark, because he could just steal everyone's hard earned victory and commit a mass genocide to celebrate that fact. Inarius was cast out of the high heavens and even if he was in the high heavens in the end he wouldn't have cooperated with the nephalem. He has a thicker stick stuck up his ass then inarius, which is quite an achievement. Neither auriel nor itherael carry a lot of martial prowess + at the time auriel was captured by a demon and the nephalem had to free her. Tyrael is a human and would've been useless tbh so that just leaves inarius. And he's a loser as well. Respectively

Yeah... But how many games out there, and films, come to that, work on the trope of the hero never fighting all the bosses at once? Or, to put it another way, it's like the Sith in Star Wars, or Sauron or the Nazgul in LOTR. Baddies tend to be tougher than the goodies, otherwise where's the dramatic tension?

D4's cutscenes are on a completely different level imho. Both technically and artistically. Especially at those endgame cutscenes you start to get why you just payed 70€ for a videogame.

All blizzard cinematics are amazing. But the second to last one with inarius invading hell is absolutely the peak. The screenplay, dialogue, artistic direction.

The problem was the manner in which it happened. It didn't make Diablo/The Prime Evil appear strong. It just made Imperious appear weak.

I only watch the cinematic and lore videos on KZfaq about Diablo but never actually played it, and to be honest the lore is very weak compared to StarCraft and Warcraft for example. What’s the point of fighting if the demons can just respawn again and again. Also the angels are actually pretty darn stupid, it seems like every decision they make is bad. Like why not help out humans, no they leave them to defend against hell by themselves. It seems like in the game diablo there is no true good only evil, because even the angels are blinded by there own light.

The crystal arch remakes new angels every time one dies. Also, yeah individual angels do appear stronger.

When an angel dies, another one is made by the Crystal Arch to replenish their numbers. Killing angels isn't rare. Droves of low tier angels die constantly in the Eternal Conflict. The angels we see in cinematics and such are archangels, who are meant to be equal in strength to the lesser and prime evils of hell.

By this point the world stone was already shattered from diablo 2 so they had no reason to help them anymore. They didn't create sanctuary nor cared about it. Its like if you and your next door neighbor who fought alot had a new neighbor across the street. Would you care if they were fighting too?

D3 feels like an anime in comparison. D4 tries to be a lot more muted and … classical in its approach. I think I prefer D4, by a pretty significant margin. :D

I mean in all honesty, in the grand scheme of things, D4 basically IS a sidequest. Like you fight Lilith to stop her from becoming a Prime Evil. Chick ain't even a lesser evil. In the context of the other games, chick would be an act boss, not the final boss. Nephalem would eat Lilith for breakfast and leave our poor human wanderer in the dust.

And yet D4's story is so much better, showing just how ineffective teenage power-trips are in making a good narrative, much less a Diablo one. D3 is straight action/adventure (and pretty corny at that), not close to horror.

The story and scope of Diablo 3 make it sound like fan fiction.

@@hemmydallI’m pretty sure humanity are the descendants of the nephelem, and the nephelem being the descendants of Inarius and Lilith. To be a “nephelem” is something of a superior being. Not quite an angel or demon, but more than human. That’s why you play as THE “nephelem”.

@@highlander918 the first generation of nephalem were immortal, but later generations aren't due to Inarius using the world stone to change them. But yeah, humans are still "nephalem" but its usually a word reserved for humans with notable power, as a way to distinguish the two.

Diablo was with the essence of 7 demons. If it was Diablo alone, the angel would have won. There's even an animation of him killing Diablo with a single blow.

It's the Eternal Conflict. There's always both sides winning or losing. What use would we be to a situation where the Angels were easily winning? You want a game where we turn up and eat popcorn?

@@LostEmpireProduction In the games no. Inarius, Tyrael, Imperius by lore are extremely successful in the Eternal Conflict at winning battles.

So humans (players) could win.

Because the players need to be important in these games, plain and simple. If the angels could handle things themselves, there would be no need for mortal human players to confront the demons. In the games, the angels get beaten but in lore there has always been an ongoing conflict which is infinite - both sides keep winning and losing infinitely without a definite winner. Out of Imperious, Inarius, and Tyrael I believe Tyrael is the only one I haven't seen getting beaten that bad. In D2 when Diablo was trying to free Baal in Tal Rasha's tomb, he was distracted and Marius freed Baal and he was unable to take on 2 prime evils by himself. And let's not forget, the Prime Evils were imprisoned within soulstones for a very long time, so they were defeated, temporarily.
