Preparation was the best specialization ultimately in the end for my rogue in the closed beta. Combo points was nice but the unique that paired with it forced you into a bow build (each time you attack with this weapon you have a % chance to not generate a combo point: this ranged from 5-10% but you do 25% more DMG with skills that use combo points) since the unique was a dagger if you attacked with bow you would bypass the negative effect of not generating combo points occasionally but still get the 25% DMG boost Preparation worked extremely well with my auto imbue penetrate shot build since shadow clone had legendary aspects that got the effect of my imbues and anytime I activated a Imbue skill my shadow clones DMG increased by 20% So shadow clone would mimic my skills and get the imbued effects and do 20% more DMG on top of preparation spec reducing the cool down of my ultimate skill (shadow clone) everytime I spent 100 energy So it led to some obscene DMG bouncing between shadow and poison Imbued attacks (with the paragon board my imbuements lasted for 3 skill uses and one could trigger the cool down reset of the other) while keeping the uptime on my shadow clone relatively high.

I’m mildly disappointed that the “shadow realm” specialization they mentioned when they revealed the rogue class ended up getting cut, but that seemed like it was going to be immensely difficult to implement no matter what

For all the development hell the devs went thru, it amazes me just how deep and complex these characters seem to be. It seems like they really nailed it! Things like numbers and damage multipliers can be tuned over time, but the decisions they made for complexity are awesome. I can’t wait to play!

My two mains are going to be rogue then druid, I'm going to attempt to try all of them out but mostly will spend time on rogue and druid. Been waiting for druid forever

As someone who mained Amazon in D2, DH in D3, and Hunter in old WOW, i'm definitely going to be rocking and rolling with the rogue.

just a quick question is it going to be as repetitive as D3? played D3 for a while lasting only 8 season from season 15 then quit coz of repetitiveness how is this different from D3?

U guys are so lucky u have the attention span to put hours into a arpg like this. I can play like 2 hours before I get bored. It sucks. Supposed to take Adderall and if I do I can play forever. Just don't like them. I just want to be a nerd and grind a arpg. I get bored so fast. Only game I didn't get bored of was d2. Recently started playing undecember and its the best game I ever played since d2. Still can only put like two hours in before I get antsy.

My favourite classes in D2 and D3 were Amazon, Assassin and Demon Hunter. It looks like all three are getting compressed into one class in D4, which does not feel good, to be honest. I'll wait to see what it looks like on release though.

back when Legion Expansion came out i felt a Diablofication took place now with Diablo 4 it seems Diablo is being WoWified i have no interest in trying a combo point rogue, like you said, it's almost the wow version and then everything can be made to sound good on paper when we'll actually get to play it we'll see what it actually means but i wouldn't hold my breath over number tunings, i suspect specific numbers would make any kind of system work, but that's not what we see in most games, as in the numbers they settle on still favor something greatly over something else i'm also skeptical about the nailing of the complexity, rogue in particular is filled with skills that say "and you have x% chance for this to happen" maybe some ppl can make that work, i personally despise effects that trigger based on RNG WoW Battle for Azeroth featured the corruption system, where you could put some random effects on just about any piece of gear, something like "when you deal this type of dmg there's a chance you spawn random rays that f up the entire screen" Great when it triggered, but most the time it's not up to you when that happens and that seems bad to me To put into perspective wow has 16 item slots... and outside of that patch that introduced corruptions, only trinkets (2 slots) most often had random effects. When they made all of the gear and combat revolve around random procs it just didn't vibe with me at all.

do we know anything if D4 have mercenary?

This game doesn't come out for another ~6 months. Too early to get excited.
