Thanks Jim. I took my Jetta to a mechanic since for a clunking noise on the front driver's side. They couldn't find anything! Saw your video, checked the links, exactly this problem. Solved it myself!!Saved me some money :)

Hi Jim, I someone asked me, from 1 to 10 how much I know how to fix a car, I would say 0.5 just to show that I am not a dummy. I took my car to 3 mechanics they couldn't find what caused the noise. They asked ridiculous money for different parts, but they never mentioned anything about the sway bar link. After watching you vid, I was able to fix it myself. Thanks so much for helping saving thousands. Best teacher.

Jim, I enjoy your videos a lot! You explain things in clear language and your directions are easy to follow. It looks like you replaced the sway bar links with Moog parts, and my Moog sway bar links have failed after less than a year, even with torqueing them to spec, 22 ft lb, and greasing them every 3 months. Maybe I just got a bad run of the parts. This time I'm going with TRQ. The Mevotechs I bought for the back have lasted 3 years so far and are not showing signs of wear.

I tried this on my 2003 CRV. Unfortunately I replaced only one side. After 3 years the other side is making noise. Not keen on doing that again. Typically, what would a job like that cost me with Moog parts? I realize different areas have different costs. But maybe a ballpark price would suffice. Thanks and great video.

Hey Jim, I'm really enjoying your videos. I just attempted to do this repair on my '04 civic. I only got half was done. I saw in another video you did about these links that sometimes the old ones are so seized that you have to cut them off. I ran into this problem and had to cut the passenger side ones off but I'm wondering if there is another option a DIYer can do. I can't seem to get any slack in the driver's side links to get clearance for my saw. Thanks for the help.

Thank you for such a great video. I think I am going to do this to quiet my Honda Accord. I was only going to do the drivers side. But I think I will do both sides like you said. Now with the greasable fittings are they better? I don't have a grease gun. But how much grease you put in and what type of grease?
@smoothlover073
@smoothlover073 6 жыл бұрын
Surprising no one noticed he forgot to put on the grease boots on them. Now when you grease them the grease will escape and they will run dry and be in need of replacement in a few months.

You said it was mechanical error for the nut coming loose. Could it also be that it was a very cheap part, and it came loose for how cheap it was made and not mechanical error?

My local Honda dealership has priced this at 340.00 this would include the parts for both the front and the rear sway bar link kit, and labor. do you think this is a good price. Or do I go to amazon and buy it myself and have my someone else beside the dealership do it?

Hi Jim... I have a 2008 crv that needs that same work done. I am wondering if it wouldn't easier to power off the four bolts holding the sway bar to the frame to after you take off the bottom bolts links, Might be easier to remove and install the on the sway bar itself... Your thoughts.

I asked you a few weeks back about an Acura rxs-s that was burning alot of oil, its turns out the compression was fine but needed a complete valve job. My 17 yr old son is now telling me that we should had the block done because you cant do one with out the other. Sounds like nonsense to me. the mechanic assured me the block was fine. Your thoughts? 17 yr old boys do know everything.

+Kevin Stanard To be honest with 133,000 miles it is very likely that the rings in the engine are worn and causing the engine to burn oil.The compression in the motor can be OK and still burn oil because the oil ring witch is below the compression ring may be going bad.

Hi Jim, I have a 98 civic hatch & I'm experiencing squeaking noise on front driver side... I was told I had to re-grease my stabilizer links or spray wd-40 or pb blaster on the bushings to stop the squeaking. If they're aren't bad then the squeaking would stop & if not I have to replace... What are your thoughts? And thanks for these videos. Great job

Hey, quick question. On my 10 year old Acura, I hear a thump when driving over uneven pavement or patches on the road. It comes from the rear and I believe from the right rear. I tried few times to drive over the patch with left rear and nothing abnormal, but with right rear there is a thump. Car has 111K on it. I did push each rear corner to see if shocks aren't good, but they seem to hold well. Can sway bar links/bushings make a dull thumping noise?
@rondhole
@rondhole 3 жыл бұрын
Check the Bushings and links off course. They are the cheapest parts if you want to replace even with Dealer Parts. Rubber bushing first, and links later if it does not fix your problem. Jack one of the wheel up and check how much the gap on the bushing. For the links, you need a pray bar.
@Charkatak
@Charkatak 3 жыл бұрын
@@rondhole Thanks, will check that. I have also seen one video where rear shock upper mount was ripped and made similar noise.
@rondhole
@rondhole 3 жыл бұрын
@@Charkatak that's $500 repair, don't overthinking. Check the cheapest first. Upper mount rubber, easy check but could be expensive if it is struts, not shocks.
@Charkatak
@Charkatak 3 жыл бұрын
@@rondhole Right it is expensive repair. I did visual check, when my rear tire was off(had some air leak), but all rubber parts were good, but will do as you suggested previously and physically check for play. I do have rear shocks, as the springs are separate. The downside is I would need to remove rear seat to access shock mounts if these would need replacing.
