For about 20 years I've been doing my own repairs. I learned everything I know on my own and from watching videos. This is probably the most informative best video I've ever seen ever and I've learned more in 15 minutes about suspension than I ever knew!Tomorrow my car goes on jack stands and I'm going to play around with The suspension.

Yes, I experienced that same situation over 20yrs ago, but on a different type of vehicle. It was aboard a nuclear submarine & no one in the naval shipyard could diagnose why the interlock indications were not lining up. I performed the same procedure you did to every linkage over 20ft in height & found a 1/2” valve stem (that the reach rod was connected to) was worn so badly that the valve had to be replaced. Thanks for sparking my memory synapses, as I had over 35yrs of diagnosing problems as a marine machinery mechanic.

I am praising the Lord that I came across this video! my 99 honda accord has been doing this for months! After watching this video i walked outside at work, took a small bar from the trunk, pried up on the stabilizer link and behold that's what it was!Ii even went on the passenger side where it wasn't making the noise and found that the condition of that one was night and day compared to the other. i could even duplicate the sound by hitting the stabilizer bar with my hand. Its even louder when driving just as you explained. Thank you Jim this really helped me!

Great video, very professional and honest. One trick I learned when replacing suspension or exhaust parts is to wire brush all nuts, bolts and threads down real good first, then spray down with PB Blaster, or ATF/Acetone mix (50/50) and let sit for 1/2 hr or more. This works really well if you don't have air tools and are using a long breaker bar/ratchet wrench.

Yes, indeed 2-make sure putting grease AFTER putting the new part is, must not forget, is an excellent and must do and critical reminder! Well done as always n kudos to the lady who has chosen very competent automotive technician! Well done, Jim! All the key reminders about put 5-tork bit to hold on the center of stubborn nut to come out and NOT to strip bolt head, which will be bad day to find not so easy to find factory OEM nut like that! Of course, always replace set like tire! testing was good even after putting new part we can see NO free play! Put very good penetrating grease to loosen old nut and may be two or even three spray and wait for socked in why some people even briefly touch rusted old nut to warm up nut to loosen, may be or may not good idea or unnecessary!

Thanks Jimmy... went back to the garage and they are repairing it FREE! My accelerator cable jammed on and as I needed the car home/only 1 mile there was the old white puff of smoke which was the clutch going. They did a new clutch and accelerator cable 1 month ago. Turns out SOME garages honour there work-hence the FREE REPAIR AND... they giving me a car for the day. Just to let you know it was your reply that gave me the courage to go back and ask. Drove to east coast no clunking but when I hit a bump it's a hard sound. First thought it was the struts/shocks but the car doesn't really bottom out. Went to dealership they told me it was my front sway bar link and rear sway bar bushings. Question is there a sway bar in the rear? Outside of the dealership what should a job like this go for? Help if you can just trying not to be ripped off.

Disagree completely, he checks several parts, finds the culprit and then checks a couple more parts.

Moog products are about 3 times more expensive then car quest counter parts- I have replaced many many car quest parts and I don't see why anyone would spend such ridiculous money for the same product by using Moog or other....then again people still buy snap on, so there is those idiots that. Then again, most of them finance.

Not sure where you buy your parts but I spent less that $45 for two front end sway bar links and a set of both the rear and front sway bar bushings on Rock Auto, all MOOG parts for my G35x just last week, after shipping it was still cheaper than any parts store in town

It's possible he was referring to the ratchet as the "torx" wrench... It's a common and easy slip... Most people who work in a shop or around tools, would've figured that out instantly and wouldn't have cluttered up the feed with the debate. Great video Jim! I appreciate how thoroughly you cover everything.

I think he meant an Allen or hex socket. It was a 5mm Allen Socket.
