On fancier exercise bikes the resistance is controlled electronically, and is a common failure point. I show how to diagnose the failure point and also a method to “hotwire” the resistance motor so that you can still change the resistance without replacing parts if the motor is fine and only the console is damaged.
The bike in the video is the NordicTrack GX 4.0 model, but this method is general enough to work with many Proform and NordicTrack bikes (I actually suspect they are all made in the same factory given how similar they look inside). No special bike tools are required, just standard screwdrivers and wrenches that most home owners should have.
