Diagonally dominant matrices allow us to guarantee that there is a unique solution for our system of equations. Therefore, determining if a matrix is diagonally dominant is very important to iterative methods. To determine if a given matrix is diagonally dominant you must go through row by row and ensure that the sum of the magnitudes of all other elements in a given row is less than that of the element on the diagonal!
