I got a dial caliper from tesa a few years ago .. its still in mint condition, even with daily use.. I will avoid the digital calipers in the future, if I have the choice.. They starts to look scratched and awful, and they disintigrate from aging plastic parts withing 3 years if u get coolant on them all the time.. Great oldschool style video from this channel .. keep it up.. :)

can't go wrong with a drop gauge, my favorite measuring equipment.

One very important thing when reading an analog gauge of any type: look straight on at it, not at an angle. While not as crucial with smaller dials where needle is close to the face, with larger ones it can throw off the measurement. That is why many old-school analong volt meters and testers even had a reflective strip under the number scale: when you needed a precise reading, you would move your head until the needle is perfectly over its reflection, then take a reading. Doing so ensured you were reading it as straight-on as possible. In a way this error can be seen here at 9:56, where reading seems to be less than what it's called out to be, although that could have just been done for filming purposes.

Make a video over the 0-6 depth mics and show how to install the rods because I bought these depth mics and it didn't come with instructions on how to install the rods.

Dial calipers cannot swap between Imperial and Metric.

So why do these digital calipers say SET each time you turn them on when the directions say in normal mode you don't have to zero them each time? How do you put them in "normal" mode?

Is it normal to see light when you close your caliper’s jaws?

arturoaragon43, you should not see light between the flat faces of the main caliper jaws when they've been cleaned and then closed tight together.

Are your dial calipers coolant proof?

arturoaragon43, Maybe you are referring to the digital calipers? The various dial calipers have no electrical components that would be harmed by coolant. Not that you'd want to dunk them in coolant continually. Our three digital calipers have an IP 67 rating which means they are fully protected from dust/grit intrusion and protected against immersion in liquid. Does that mean you should leave them sitting in a bucket of coolant? No. But getting splashed with coolant or other liquid like might happen in a typical machine shop should be just fine. Most of our other specialized digital calipers (depth, OD groove, etc.) carry an IP54 rating which protects at a lower level against dust and liquid intrusion. You can check the rating for any specific tool by referencing the "Tech Specs" on the webpage for that tool.

tearlach0127, these calipers are manufactured in China. For any of the metrology tools on HaasTooling.com the country of origin can be found in the Technical Specs section of that tool's web page.
