TIP: For anyone with this kit or similar and is still having issues after wiring it like the video here is a fix. Plug the pins into the connector just as it shows in the video. When you plug the connector into the red part on the ballast just flip them around on both of them. Mine actually had a positive and a negative mark on each one to match them up. So you’ll want the positive side to go into negative slot and the negative side to go into the positive side if that makes sense. Many hours of frustration and this is what finally got mine to work correctly.

No matter what I do to mine they remain dim, they start up really bright then within a second return to a dim state, does this mean my 12v current isn't strong enough?

Good video sir. People doing installs (plug & play installs) with just the factory stock wiring may end up ruining/overheating the wires cause of what you said...the ballast uses alot of current to start up. And that is why you used relay harness because it uses the right awg. gauge wire for the ballast and it gives it the amount of power it needs to work.

@jbmjbm323
@jbmjbm323 2 жыл бұрын
@@galodoidousarenato5504 it should still work. My only opinion though when you connect it direct to the headlight plug, the stock wiring for the bulb may overheat and burn out the wire if the stock fuse does not blow because HID startup uses alot of volts/amperage it says on the ballast. I use a relay for my hid lights because I can hook up a bigger gauge wire to run my hids. The headlight plug runs to a relay, then the relay would switch on and send power from the other wire I use to power my hids. You should check out videos on youtube on how automotive relays work. But without a relay, your hid kit should still work. Just read the instructions...

It was also making so buzzing noises which supposedly I heard that it wouldn't happen with a relay kit. I retrofit my lights on my 2007 Suzuki swift. Stock plugs are h4 and the projectors I retrofit are H1 bulbs. I bought a h4 relay harness,two ballasts and two H1 xenon bulbs. I put everything together and it works fine,except one thing. When I switch on my lights and close them after a while, trying to open them again only drivers headlight came on. If I try on/off several times the passenger side work too. I thought my ballasts are bad and I bought new ones. But still the same. Is that a problem with my relay harness?

Assuming the new HID kit works fine, if you install a relay wiring harness for the HID, then you will be powering the HID directly off the car battery and that should take care of any flickering or turn on issue.

Great video. Couple questions. I have concerns about reverse polarity with my HID kit, and I don't have a relay harness at this time. Question is, after I get a relay harness how can I tell if polarity is reversed? I don't want to break anything. Apparently I had it reversed in the past according to an auto electric place, but the bulb worked that way right up until the ballast fried. Second question, does it matter at all if you ground to the chassis or negative terminal? Is one preferred over the other? Third question (sorry!) My battery is in my trunk. The front module does have a big red positive(+) terminal that I believe is intended for things like this, but do you know for sure if that is correct?

It was so dead that even bump starting didn't work i had to get an actually boost, so i think i know why my lights suddenly started going out but i still want to wire in a relay. Can i just take a relay and make my conections on it or do i have to buy a harness, i only ask 1 because i'm short on time and can't wait for stuff to get shipped to me in Ontario Canada 2nd i have a brand new relay sitting in my parts crap so i could save time & money it i can use that one. Yes it is a fuse. Yes one headlight connector plugs into the relay harness (normally the side closest to the battery) the other one is left unplugged, since it just sends signal from factory harness to relay so you just need to connect one side.

I have two 10 inch JL audio subwoofers ran by a 1000 watt monoblock JL amp in my truck and whenever I have the bass turned up my head lights flicker and I believe it's because I lack a capacitor between the 4 gauge connection from the battery to the amp. This kit came with a relay harness and I was wandering if I actually have to install it because a buddy of mine has the same kit but his didn't come with the relay harness. +Nick Klink Headlight flicker is because your amp is drawing a lot of current when you have the stereo cranked. Using a relay kit for your lights will not fix the flicker. Also you don't have to use a relay for the lights if the factory harness provide enough current.

Joaquin Sanchez there's nothing left unplugged the only wires on the ballast should be the wires going into it for power and the wires going out of it to the bulb

when connecting the wire to the positive terminal am I in any danger of getting shocked or electrocuted, or do i have to disconnect negative first just being safe thank you

The 12V DC will not shock you. You don't need to disconnect the negative terminal.

Are these for low beam or high beam? Also my car has a projector headlight. Would they cause lots of glare for that kind of headlight?
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 4 жыл бұрын
It's for low beam. These days, you should really look for LED light. Fast startup, pure white color, easy install.

Doesn't the ground go to the ground terminal in the battery or does it matter? I used a ground that was on the side of my engine bay but other videos say to use the batterys ground. Not sure
@dial2fast

The car chassis is tied to battery ground. Check it with a multimeter before you connect it.

Don't be that guy and install hid's in a reflector housing. Be kind and not cheap and buy projectors. Your not the only one on the road.

Its not that bright without projector. Its not as bad as regular high beams.

it is that bad. any housing made for halogens cant have hids. that includes projectors that came factory with halogens

+JiMLiTtLe905 I hate to be that guy because i agree with you i hate those drivers, but in my case i kind of have to. I ordered some smoked headlights and the light output is kind of bad. The glare is also way less than the clear lenses so i feel like i wont be blinding people too bad.

True partially. Do you know that there is cars that come with hid in reflector from factory? Probably you didnt. If the housing has the shield made for it it makes a very good cutoff actually

Hey I’m using HID lights with 55W ballast for my fog light and the fuse keeps on blowing. From my understanding is the during startup the HID draws a high current and will drop back down. So due to the high draw of current it blows my fuse. Therefore in order to rectify this, do you think by using a relay harness with its own fuse that is connected to the battery then to the HID with its 55W ballets will resolve this issue? Thank you.
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 3 жыл бұрын
I am assuming you are referring to the factory headlight fuse blowing. If that is the case, then you should install a relay harness to provide adequate current for the HID ballast.

Yes I meant the factory fuse keeps on blowing. Will be install a relay harness. Thank you for your help, greatly appreciated 🙏🏿.

Question? Why other KZfaq videos showed the relay black wire hooked up to the battery !!
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 8 жыл бұрын
+alilazmo Black wire is chassis ground. The battery negative terminal connects to the car chassis. Either connect the black wire to chassis or to the negative terminal on the battery...same thing.

I have installed x5 can-bus ballast with 35w HID bulb. It is working good only as a head light but i lost my DRL (Day running lights). Will HID works as both head lights and DRL?
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 9 жыл бұрын
+Sutha Tharakan HID is too bright for use as DRL. You can of course install it, but its annoying to oncoming traffic.

+dial2fast one of my friend told me he is using HID as DRl as well as the same HID working as his head light. ( dim light + head light in one HID) thats what i'm confused. Mine is just as head light. When i start the car no lights will work. But in canada its a law to use a DRl in vehicles. I can install an external DRL but I'm confused how his HID working as both DRl and headlight. My HID was flickered when low voltage is supply, so they changed the ballast and installed x5 can-bus with flicker canceller.
@dial2fast
@dial2fast 9 жыл бұрын
+Sutha Tharakan Factory DRL from years ago (non LED) operates by cutting the voltage in half. So it puts 6v on each high beam bulb. That's why it's not full brightness. I am not aware of any ballast that operates at both 6v and 12v. You might want to take a look at your friends car and see what's his setup.
@janut416

+dial2fast yes. I'll go and see his setup this week and will share with you what he did for his DRL. Thanks for your replies.
