I went to a record signing at my local HMV..she signed my 45rpm single of ARMY DREAMERS touched my arm and she loved my tattoos...I was about 19/ 20.....I'm 64 now

Kate Bush is a prominent figure who deserves much more recognition and praise. All her albums are legitimate classics. You don’t find that consistency just anywhere else.

yep it's all true! But also I'd say she's on par with the Beatles and Bowie, etc, I think she deserves recognition not only as an amazing and probably the best FEMALE artist, but also one of the best artists in general - regardless of gender.

@@user-dn4rx8ev3j Makes sense! Gilmour played on other Kate tracks such as Love and Anger and Rocket's Tail. Also a wonderful live version of Running Up That Hill. (You might already know that he was a major force in getting her a record deal as he assisted her with her early demos and then got them to EMI...)

@@orchplayers yes indeed :) David was instrumental in Kates career...he alone put up the cash to hire the studio/producer and get her demos over to EMI and secured her the record deal and mentoring at the ripe age of just 16yo - amazing story! without Pink Floyd there would be no Kate Bush! LIVING LEGENDS they dont make them like this anymore!

I love how she stands to one side of her backing singers. The crumpled white sheet over the stage block, the falling smoke behind, the lipstick. Kate's composition and presentation and sophistication is just astonishing. Such and incredible performer.

Kate Bush is utterly gorgeous with a voice to match, I never got to see her live shows and it will haunt me forever ive always loved her, always will, I even named my daughter kate, her songs remind me of happy times and can also make me cry, shes one of a kind a woman of great talent and nobody could ever come close.

I also missed out on her live shows and will also regret it for rest of my life. I can’t look at photos of these shows because I feel so upset. I would feel a little better if I saw a dvd of them but it doesn’t look like they’ll ever see the light of day! 🥲

The same can be said for more than a handful of other underappeciated artists that really were groundbreaking pioneers. Fortunately they, as well as Kate Bush, remain in the history books of music which are written by people with a keen musical interest and knowledge. Who people in general remember or praise won't matter in the coming decades or even a century from now. Kate Bush is also an influence to many artists today, and being an influence to other musicians counts for more than whoever is so popular now that they remember what outfit some artist wore on stage half a year ago.

Her lead guitarist Alan Murphy died, her mother Hannah was sick with cancer and died shortly after the album was released, and her long term relationship with Del Palmer ended

I know!!! I've only just found out about her after watching "Queens of British Pop" on the BBC, and I couldn't and still can't believe that I hadn't heard of her before then! She's such a remarkable artist, and so unique, and such a genius that I'm shocked she isn't mentioned more often in regards to music. She should be a household name like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and it's a disgrace that she isn't.

Kate is such a flawless and incredible live performer, I wish they would have let her do more live performances, but lip syncing was the standard back then on television. It's funny to see back up singers on this video, when it is actually Kate's layered voice doing back up on the recording. Nice guitar by Eric Clapton.

Lip syncing was standard on TOTPs since the very first episode so saying back then in relation to this is a none starter sweetie and I say that as a K8T fan since the 70s.

Actually her very 1st performance of Wuthering Heights on TOTP was not lip synced, and the show musicians had a hard time playing the music right (of which she famously said about the performance "it was like watching myself die"). I've been a fan since December of 1978 when I saw her on Saturday Night Live (which was also not lip synced).

Kate's debut appearance on Top Of the Pops was on February 16, 1978 and was a live performance. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/arOZa62b2cq-h3U.html And while miming was the standard on TOTP, some bands did play live. From Wikipedia entry for Top of the Pops: "Occasionally bands played live, examples in the 1970s and 1980s being the Four Seasons, the Who, Blondie, John Otway, Sham 69, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds, The Sweet, The Jackson 5, Heavy Metal Kids, Elton John, Typically Tropical, New Order, Whitney Houston and David Bowie. In 1980, heavy metal band Iron Maiden played live on the show when they refused to mime to their single "Running Free". Solo artists and vocal groups were supposed to sing live to the Top of the Pops Orchestra. Billy Ocean, Brotherhood of Man, Anita Ward, Thelma Houston, Deniece Williams, Hylda Baker and the Nolans all performed in this way." Kate was unhappy with her performance because she had a very difficult time with the Top Of the Pops Orchestra not playing the song quite right (this was all discussed in her early fan magazines and on GaffaWeb). All you have to do is watch the performance to know that it was definitely live.

Glenn Fleming Bowie did a duet with one of his producer Tony Visconti's young artists, Kristen Young. It's the closest you'll get to that particular duet. She is very Kate-esque in her voice.

haha! I know she has a fanbase of thousands, etc, etc.. but generally i think she still deserves more recognition for her genius. Almost everyone would say that The Beatles are fantastic songwriters and blah blah blah, but Kate is often overlooked I find.. maybe i've just found this because I'm from a younger generation..? but i think it's shameful how most people my age aren't even aware of her, however influential she is. oh yeah i'm 18 ;)

Now all we have is dancing barbies with no talent who can't write their own songs. ring tone radio. Kate was and still is the most talented artist ever. Most ppl don't know that she has fans in the US but we are here. No one can compare to her talent. It doesn't matter about her weight, that's her business. she is amazing and I hope she puts out a new album every year from now on!!
