The Balancing Act

Күн бұрын

Diamonds have been coveted for thousands of years; in fact, there is evidence that diamonds have been collected and traded in India as early as the fourth century BC! Comprised of just one element-carbon-diamonds are considered to be the hardest substances on earth. Natural diamonds are ancient-some specimens have been proven to be have formed three billion years ago.
Two representatives from Lucara Diamond-William Lamb and CEO Eira Thomas-join The Balancing Act to share their diamond knowledge. Diamonds 101 includes information on how diamonds form, how they are mined, how they are cut and, most importantly, what makes a naturally occurring diamond so unique.

Diamonds are controlled heavily to make you think they are rare, they are rare in finding, but there is unbelievably lodes of diamonds ranging from different quality levels, they are very much abundant, taking into consideration of how long diamonds have been minded and in circulation over the past. But this is true! Finding that perfect stone with the right inclusions and colour and cut to shape and size is why diamonds fetch premium's in price! Thanks for reading

Diamond Diamond is a form of the element carbon with its atoms arranged in a crystal structure called diamond cubic. At room temperature and pressure, another solid form of carbon known as graphite is the chemically stable form of carbon, but diamond almost never converts to it. Diamond has the highest hardness and thermal conductivity of any natural material, properties that are utilized in major industrial applications such as cutting and polishing tools. They are also the reason that diamond anvil cells can subject materials to pressures found deep in the Earth.

Diamonds are made from high pressure and 150km in depth! So remember this: in order to become the diamond among the people on earth, you need to be wanting to be under pressure and in depth! Most people are doing just enough to survive in this world and care about being happy most of the time, but to be a diamond you need to understand happiness is not what you think it is, happiness is what you need to do in order to become the person you want to become, so if you're gonna be under pressure remember you're becoming a diamond and that's happiness! Alot of people don't want to climb the lather in a company due to the pressure and responsibilities it takes, but do you want to become a diamond or no? Do you want to have your own buisness and scale it up in the future? Then go and speak responsibilities and pressure to have on yourself! Because that is what I'm doing! And if you're not doing it, do not hate or complain on the people who worked hard and is rich!

A polished and cut diamond disperses the light and we see colours glitter, known as “fire”. The white light that makes them sparkle is called “brilliance.” Even though the rocks are often overvalued, it takes a real craftsman to cut a diamond to maximise the fire and brilliance it creates. It wasn’t until 1919 that the “round brilliant” cut was formed that has become the favourite for engagement rings. I’m interested in the craftsman side of things, not the status they bring.

William Lamb in this clip seems extremely passionate about the industry, product, and cause. You can see him get amped when talking about the good the mines do! Interestingly, when I first saw the part in the clip where they show the diamond mine, I felt saddened they were using the earth. As a result, I felt detractive towards the decision to mine and anyone associated to it. While I experienced a fleeting moment of self-righteousness, I quickly realized that this is no different from what we do to our own land. As of October 2012, Australia had 405 mines. If I accept mining in my own land to support my requirements of power and water, how am I to see the practice any different elsewhere. Thank you, Africa, for helping me realize the truth. While I don't know the details about the impact both positive and negative of mining, I am eager to learn more and would appreciate if anyone has any good resources? Peace

As a diamond geologist I shall refrain from trying to answer the rubbish comments made by uninformed people here below, but I am surprised by two things this lady mentioned: 1. All diamonds are not billions of years old - a considerable number are less than 1bn years old; 2. I will be surprised if this company is still in business if they are so incapable that it takes them 10 years to find out if a newly discovered diamondiferous kimberlite is economically viable. Even if it is a large resource involving the planning required for an underground section as well, it should not take more than 2 - 3 years.

I think they are taking "Lab roughs" and trying to take over market... diamonds are abundant - but 95 % are not "Gem Ring Quality" stones ! Most of all the 5,000 yr old big carat roughs of quality grade have been hidden or vaulted away ! This is were the "Rarity Monopoly" is started, me personally - I think Lab Diamonds are the future of Jewelry ...along with Moissanite! In this way the buyer gets the Superior Quality CCCCC without middleman bloodshed or salesman bull$chitt !!!

Prior to mining diamonds it first is explored to estimate the size of the Kimberlite pipe on average they could be 500 to 1.2 km in diameter. The first thing they do is bulk sampling so 200 bore holes drilled and cored 30 to 50 m then they send to a diamond processing plant usually in South Africa so this bulk sampling could be 150 tonnes of Kimberlite pipe and when all of the diamonds extracted they make a figure for example 4 carats a tonne then it's worth mining. Just removing the top surface can take a year before hitting the Kimberlite pipe.

Diamonds aren't that rare. Jewelry quality diamonds are. I can buy a diamond encrusted cutting wheel for pretty cheap and it's covered in crushed, small low grade diamonds. Most people generally don't want black, brown or yellow diamonds, unless they're unusually large, and people don't want diamonds with occlusions in them.

This is our level of consciousness and suffering is man made created experience and this is a fact! Cultivate your self and find the truth of who you are. This Creation is speaking to you, as a diamond you are, your individual consciousness is formed in the darkness, ignorant ego, pressure and suffering shows the corrupt way of the human souls, more you go deep and purify this corrupted roots in the colective cluster more the primordial energy will burst as the vulcano, at the base if your spine, this is the seed of inner transformation and inner growth that will open the cristal core diamond heart and your upper chamber will be open and shining as a pure diamond as you are now a Light in this material low dimension world. May the blessings of the Higher Being be with you, find the truth within.
