I like most everything this guy has said, except the pressure and heat part. GE, General Electric, already proved that these diamonds are not formed under pressure back in the 1950s, and they did this by creating them synthetically under vacuum. Also, these diamonds will generally exhibit "signs of flight", flow lines, a burnt or melted leading edge, and even impact deformation.

Great video. Learned a ton as usual! One correction: terrestrial diamonds do not occur in "pegmatic" (pegmatitic) veins (i.e., in pegmatites), but in kimberlite pipes, as in South Africa, Canada, and other locations.

Hey Topher & Crew, I love all your videos. I’m wondering if you might ever do a video that examines meteoritic features under non-microscopic magnification? We see pictures and we see cross-sections, but it would be amazing to see close-ups of specimens in-between. Like what we would see if we got to examine the specimen with a loupe. Just throwing that out there. I enjoyed the close-up* images in this video! Thanks for that. Great job y’all, as always.

In regards to Carbonado it is also worth mentioning that Osbornite has been found in Carbonado. Osbornite is almost always found only in meteorites, there is only one known terrestrial occurrence. So although still not conclusive, it's another tick in the box for Carbonado having meteoric origins, whether that is an actual meteorite or as the result of an impactite, in which case would it be considered an impactite? I wonder if the mystery will ever be solved. I read somewhere that unless a witnessed fall can be recovered that is composed of Carbonado, we may never be able to say with 100% certainty what it's origins are. I suppose also if it could be artificially created and we could show the same processes that formed it can occur in nature that could throw a spanner in the works as well! That's why I am fascinated by Carbondo, the mystery, could I be holding something that was formed in a supernova? or as a result of a huge impact, and as Scott mentions it would have to have been huge to create diamonds of that size, although it should be pointed out that Carbonados are not single crystals, but a compact agglomeration of microscopic diamonds, it is that which gives them their toughness. Of course I would like to believe in the ET theory, but that is not science, just believing something because you wish it to be true, but there is definitely more evidence in favour of meteoric origin.

Great video this doctor is dead on no his stuff. This is exactly what we had sent you a while back when you were uneducated about this particular meteorite but I’ve been studying for two years straight 15 hours a day and those samples I sent you is what they are you put them up as meteorwrongs but he is definitely 100% correct. They are microscopic nano diamonds, matrix in the iron, nickel and precious metals in the iron phase and they do put off a gold color just depending on how rich the gold is in certain areas varies almost as if it was shot with a paintball gunand splats of gold throughout very interesting

Hello sir, I am from east africa Ethiopia. I recently found what appears to be Lonsdalite on a sandy river bed near a forest like area. It is smaller than a table tennis ball.Though I am not sure, we have tried to break it on different occasions and also have used a MOA scale and it reached the 10 mark. what are some ways we can know or confirm that this is indeed Lonsdalite?

If it's from Ethiopia, it's not a carbonado.

Don't try to convince me. I have tested the ultraviolet rays. You have an artificial stone that does not radiate in the dark and a natural stone that radiates in the dark. The picture is the best proof. I have calculated the density of each stone and it is 3.52. Good luck.
