This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

Hey, I'm old. I can't remember exactly what I felt, the first time that I watched this performance. From the first time, to this day, I cry. Not because it is a sad song, but because it is great art. I don't want to compare it to any other song; by anyone else. For me, this belongs with paintings and sculptures by the great masters of all historical times.

Igor Krutoi is not her manger or mentor. He supported Diana only during her participation in the “You are super” project. His found just presented Diana with the apartment in Moscow as for the winning of two seasons( though few other participants got apartments too) Beyond this, he didn’t do much for Diana. He wasn’t interested in to be her mentor or else.

Or she is the reincarnation of Diana which is the roman name of the Goddess Artemis protector of nature and wilderness, hunting, pureness, chastity and the moon, her true voice was either thunderous and intimidating or as sweet as nectar. Mortals could not resist it, they went to listen to her even if they knew that they might walk to their deaths.

One way to get an idea of them is to watch the video on Diana's channel of a later and equally fine performance of this song, in a very intimate setting and shortly after her 15th birthday. "Rechenka" is a song of an orphan girl who is being given in marriage. In Russia, traditionally, all wedding songs were like crying, because the girls were not asked about their wishes. Especially orphans. And the girlfriends seemed to be burying their friend in marriage. Performed by Diana, this song acquired a mystical sound. Her voice, the ambience of the stage and the arrangement made the song look like a shamanic ritual. And yes! Absolutely hypnotic effect!

Я всегда считаю, что все является фонограммой. Но своими ушами я слышал и видел своими глазами несколько раз, что Диана может петь абсолютно чистый как на живой сцене, так и в студии. С этим подарком она становится неизбежной королевой русского исполнительского искусства, где, в конце концов, есть еще нажатые "звезды" без голоса и без чувства музыки. Но Диана держится и скоро станет королевой мира.

Я лично был на концерте Дианы 7 января в Москве.Начало-полная темнота и голос Дианы.Она поёт "Реченька" а капелл о,без музыкального сопровождения.После первого куплета зажёгся свет,а Диана всё пела без музыки!Когда допела сказала "Здравствуйте .Я часто так пою.А то люди не верят,что это мой голос".Я сидел в 4-м ряду.Метров 8 от неё!

thanks to encrypter46 ( comments below ) for the meaning of this old Russian story and song.........Diana is a natural Contralto, as you nored, which is rare and the lowest of female vocalists' registers.....she is also polyphonic ( able to sing multiple notes simultaneously ).......she reminds us that there are so many talented performers from the "world music" genre,.....but she is unique among them.......she was abused and abandoned as a child, was MUTE.....raised in a Russian orphanage ........Her adoptive Mum used singing and voice lessons to help Diana overcome the trauma of her earliest years......

Hi Alex, yes, you are at a loss for words. The story is about an orphan that get to married and that talks to the river like to her parents. It's like her own life. This connection to the song can be heard very intensely. A singing teacher once commented on this song that if he wrote down all the singing techniques Diana uses here, he would have a list of all the singing techniques. The song is about an orphan who is about to get married and goes to the river to talk to her parents and ask for their blessing. The river is the connection to the world of the dead. The celebration can be heard in the background. That's the swinging part of the music. You probably already know that Diana was in an orphanage. It seems to be her song. Hence all the emotions she expresses admirably here. Diana's acting, the scenery, the dancers. This is musical theatre - at its best. Have a great day and Greetings from Germany

Rechenka, a composition from the rich Russian folklore, was written for the interpretation of Alla Pugacheva (1976), talks about a young orphan girl who wants to get married and without the presence of her parents to bless her, by tradition, she goes to the riverside to ask permission from the spirits of nature, the song is narrated in three parts, the request, the blessing of the spirits and the feast for the blessing. Diana masterfully recreated Pugacheva's music.

В 12 лет (если не ошибаюсь), на Голос дети Дианочка потрясающе исполнила песню "Время йодля". И никто из судей к ней не повернулся. А зря, теперь эта девочка завоевала сердца миллионов. и не только в России. Алекс, вы так искренне восхищаетесь её голосом, послушайте Йодль в исполнении Дианы. Да, это было давно. но на нашей, Российской эстраде больше никто так не пел никогда! С уважением из России!

This girl ...... this girl is just incredible!! I know a lot of great female singers but Diana has all of the techniques to become the greatest of them all! Should she have lived in the west, she already would have been a world famous superstar!! These kind of reactions helpes her, and we are all in awe of her voice, of her beauty and how she "lives" these songs while performing on stage.
