Something is on my heart on this one, maybe things get lost in translation on these comments as-well. It can actually be pretty heartbreaking for people to shoot down a first time interpretation based on some first glance impressions. Nearing the end of the video i came closer to the things people are saying about the song :) it’s not weird to me to separate music from a song. I feel like i am genuinely trying to understand different cultures, including the Russian. It’s sad people are alienated this much they would actually attempt to disrespect me for trying. On a positive note, thanks for the overwhelming support of people actually coming in with a positive mindset. Gross of my experience has been so nice, especially with Diana’s community. Thank you for making this that much more fun. Enjoying, learning and actually developing myself over the past year. Thank you! ❤

Don't lose sleep over some people. This song is so special, because it's existential, and the meaning of the lyrics, explains how and why Diana could sing it only in this highly intensive way. This makes people so susceptible to the singers empathy for the subject of this song, that for once, stylistics and genre don't matter at all.

@@AFLOVEable appreciate that. To be fair it’s been a really positive experience so far. Was expecting way more negativity. Do find it sad it mostly goes wrong on russian artist video’s. Getting so much nice reactions, but the hatred against people who try to jump a gap is just so weird to me. Sadly i can imagine why. Guess it’s inevitable online. So far to much stuff happening which already occupy my head 😂 i wish one day i will lose sleep on some internet comments haha

Hi Jesse, I know that it can be disheartening when you do something and it gets misunderstood. I wish that I could offer some great words of encouragement, but I don't have them. I hope that you don't get driven from Diana. She is one of the greatest artists of our time. She is, in fact, underappreciated. You are not the only person, to have been misunderstood because of the subtitles. They can be pretty bad. This is compounded by the fact that English is not your native language. Sometimes (not often), you do make mistakes. However, just this week, I saw someone get massacred because of the subtitles. You got off easy!

✨✨As always, Diana's incomparable performance! The song is called "Fastidious Horses". This is a very complex piece of music and very important for Russians! To do this is a huge risk! I mean, there are, sort of, iconic things that are of great importance and were created by legendary personalities. Therefore, only a great master can take on such work, and not everyone, because there is a high probability of failure! Diana proved that she is a brave girl and, most importantly, very talented! Diana brilliantly coped with a dangerous job! She was on top! Thank you!🙋‍♀

Hello. This song is bardic, sung with a guitar, the meaning and verses in the song are important here. Philosophical attitude to life, human existence in this world, of course, horses are the years of life, which is what the author of these poems writes about. Diana performs it soulfully and understands the meaning laid down by the author, therefore, as Diana herself said, it is not easy for her to perform it and it is very emotional, despite Diana's young age, she had to go through a lot of losses of loved ones in her life. In the center of Moscow there is this bard's club, called "The Capercaillie's Nest", Diana really likes to sing here - it's like a homely atmosphere, it's very cozy and very friendly people there - Diana's fans. Thanks for the reaction and I like it.

This song is not underrated. One such song is hundreds of times more valuable than dozens of newfangled shows. This is a song about the transience of life; the song is a message; emotion and intonation are important in it. If you really want to know the work of Diana, but in the end to understand her work, you must not be lazy and try to understand the meaning of the songs from Diana's repertoire. Many bloggers who react to Diana's songs have already understood this simple truth, that one should strive to understand and comprehend what was seen - Diana does not have empty songs

Greetings from Scotland! I also cannot enjoy this type of song but I can appreciate the huge talent it takes to sing it this well. Vysotsky lived his life at 110% and although he knew he was destroying himself, he couldn't change his basic nature. I'm sure we all know some talented person like this? Many, many good composers/singers/musicians etc. live this kind of destructive life and as a result, die far too young! Diana is able to put this desperate/hopeless fight for a "normal" life into context with her outstanding ability to interpret deep lyrics in the most emotional way possible. She invests so much of her own emotions in this type of performance it is always necessary to go directly into something much happier afterwards, to recharge herself quickly in a positive way. An extraordinarily talented young lady! Great reaction as always sir!

@@peterhowells7309 In one word - "yes". But in fact, this is not even a Yandex error, but rather a problem of loss of contexts, and the appearance of unnecessary contexts. The word "enjoy" in Russian is formed from the word "sweetness". To "enjoy" a song about love or the beauty of nature is quite reasonable. But to "enjoy" a song about the inevitable death of a hero is strange. Therefore, it is no less strange that someone says that "he does not enjoy a song of this kind." And the word "enjoy" is translated into Russian almost always as "наслаждаться". Russian choosing between "I don't enjoy" and "I don't like" in nine cases out of ten will say the second phrase. For an Englishman, such a choice looks like rudeness and even aggression, doesn't it?

It's pretty much the equivalent to the western Rock scene theme of: Life on the fast lane, live fast die young like the famous generation 27 (Hendrix,Joplin, etc.) Although Visodsky was about 40 when he died, he described this self-destructive way of living on the edge, by abusive ways like alcohol and drugs. The picture of the horses describes the speeding approach of doom and death. The man acknowledges, that he himself is enhancing the speed of his self-destruction (whipping the horses), yet even as he's already looking into the abyss, he can't let go of his ways. Like a drug addict, he knows, that will die, if he doesn't give up the stuff, the man knows, he's lost if he doesn't slow down, yet the intoxication is too tempting. All he's able to do, is to beg for a little delay of the inevitable, but life has no mercy ( you can't be late to gods table).

Vysotsky, in my opinion, wanted a lot from life and work. Even if he didn’t drink, smoke or take drugs, he still didn’t feel sorry for himself, he took everything to heart and would have burned out quickly. Under the Soviet regime, everything was controlled tightly, especially in art. Everything is on the nerves at work in the theater. He is not only a bard, singer, poet. Vladimir Vysotsky(1938-1980) Lyrics. “Fastidious horses “ Along the cliff ,over the abyss but on the edge I flog my horses with a whip… There have not enough air , I drink the wind , I swallow the fog Fill with fatal delight - I am perish ! I am perish! Little slower , horses, a little slower , Do not listen to the tight whip! But I’ve got fastidious horses…. And I haven’t finished living yet and I haven’t finished singing the verse ! I’ll give the horses a drink I’ll finish sing the verse, And at last I’ll stand on the edge a little more….! I’ll die, I’ll be blown away by hurricane And in the sleigh I will be driven by gallop through the snow in the morning. -Move little slowly, my horses! At least a little, but extend the path to the last shelter! Little slower , horses, a little slower , Do not listen to the tight whip! But I’ve got fastidious horses…. And I haven’t finished living yet and I haven’t finished singing the verse! I’ll give the horses a drink I’ll finish singing the verse, And for a while I’ll stand on the edge…. We made it - on a visit to God there is never late So what is there angels sing so evil voices? Or is it the bell thunders crying , Or I scream to horses that do not carry the sled so fast? Little slower , horses, a little slower , Do not listen to the tight whip! But I’ve got fastidious horses…. And I haven’t finished living yet and I haven’t finished singing the verse ! I’ll give the horses a drink I’ll finish singing the verse, And for a while I’ll stand on the edge….

THIS is the one I wish you had picked. This , in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ottonLpqp8m7nY0.html . Subtitles are a must for Diana's words before and after the song.

This song is so hard to sing, so many emotions... Diana manages it brilliantly despite her youth. Her empathy is incredible. This song is a tragic-philosophical song, one of Vysotsky's most intimate songs. : Horses are a symbol of the capers and the speed of life. The hero of the song drives horses along a cliff over an abyss through wind and fog. He feels that the end is near and asks the horses not to obey the whip and to gallop 'a little slower'. He dreams of standing on the sidelines for a moment to water the horses. He hasn't had time to live and can't even finish his song. * Who was the songwriter? Vladimir Vysotsky (1938-1980) was a Russian poet, actor and singer, inconvenient for the state but the people loved him. In his songs he sang about topics that officially did not exist in the Soviet Union: prostitution, crime, anti-Semitism. He is still known and popular today in Russia, where he is considered the greatest songwriter of the 20th century. He always played his songs on a 7-string guitar. Vysotsky died in 1980. His funeral took place during the Moscow Olympics. The Soviet media did not mention his death. But the news spread like wildfire, and the funeral turned into the largest non-state demonstration Moscow had ever seen. In a 2018 survey of the most important personalities in Russia of the 20th century, Vysotsky came in second behind Yuri Gagarin. The asteroid of the outer main belt (2374, Vladvysotskij) was named after him. A very deep performance by Diana I love very much (another version than this though...), let's see what it does to you... yes, a very well written song, gives me chills... there's another recording about two years earlier when she sung it for the first time in public, that one is even more touching for me, maybe because at the end she's crying, maybe because she was so deeply in the lyrics, but also tears of relieve, because, as she tells at the end, her voice teacher and people around told her she could not sing it, she was too young and not experienced enough, but she killed it and got a huge applause for it... If you want to relisten (I'm sure it will grow on you...) here's the older version, it got a way better backing track (piano and strings additional to guitar), also the recording of her voice is clearly better: 2020.09.17. Hello from France This is one of the most moving of Diana's interpretations. As you have noticed, she lives the song as if she was herself the author, and she is only 18! Vladimir Vyssotsky is for me the greatest Soviet poet, nothing less than a genius. He wrote parabolic texts to get around censorship. In this one, he talks about himself (he burnt his life, he was an alcoholic and then a drug addict), he feels carried away to death and asks for a little more time. The horses are a metaphor for his life, which has become uncontrollable... His funeral in Moscow was attended by over a million people and remains the largest unofficial event of the Soviet era The Ornery Horses ♫ On a cliff over a chasm, in my sled and nearly slipping, I am lashing at my horses. I am rushing, I am whipping. Drinking fog and gulping gale... Am I running out of air? It’s the end! I see it clear with a jubilant despair. Slow down for me, horses! Slow down for me! Don’t you let my whip drive you on! But I wound up with these horses so ornery... Didn’t finish my life, will not finish my song. I’ll let my horses drink. One more verse I will sing. Just a little bit longer I’ll cling to the brink. I will perish like a feather blown away by the tornado, And the sled across the snow will drag me, leaving deep striations... Bring it down to a walk, my horses! - We can make it there later! - Won’t you stave off my arrival at the final destination! Slow down for me, horses! Slow down for me! Ease your gallop and just trot along! But I wound up with these horses so ornery... Didn’t finish my life, cannot finish my song. I’ll let my horses drink. One more verse I will sing. For a split second longer I’ll cling to the brink. We have made it. Can’t be late, when you’re invited to God’s table. But why do I hear angels chanting, and their voices sound so evil? Or is that a crazy sleigh bell crying, choking in its rattle, As I’m yelling at my horses to slow down just a little? Slow down for me, horses! Please, slow down for me! I am begging you: hold back your run! But I wound up with these horses so ornery... Didn’t finish my life, let me finish my song! I’ll let my horses drink. One last verse I will sing. For a split second longer I’ll cling to the brink. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Vysotsky wysotsky.com/ (hundreds of his poems translated in 237 languages.)

HORSES the UNRULY O'er a sheer drop, up against the void, along the very border, I am lashing wayward horses with a horsewhip, urging on them: Getting somehow out of air, I'm gulping wind and gobbling fog, and Sensing in a fatal rapture: I'm a goner, I'm a goner! Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! Don't obey a taut whip! Beg you, don't! Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me - Short of time to live up, coming short with the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond... Should I die, a gale will sweep me off the hand flat like a feather, And the sleigh will take me, racing by the snowfield at the daybreak. Don’t you tear along, my horses, change to an unhurried canter! Just a little but prolong the journey to the final haven! Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! Heed you neither a whip, nor a thong. Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me, Short of time to live up, coming short with the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond... We're on time: you’re never late to pay a visit to the Savior; Then why are angels chanting up there with dispraising, angry yelling? If it is a harness bell that’s choking in a bitter wailing? If it’s I who’s urging horses to pull up this headlong sleighing? Do slow down a little, horses! Do slow down just a bit! I beseech you to not fly headlong! Yet that the horses should have fallen so unruly to me, Once off time to live up, but to finish the song... I will water my steeds, I will finish the song, I will stand just a bit At the back of beyond...

Hi, Yeah. The song is not really a song. It's not music in the conventionally thought of way. It is poetry. It only happens to be done along with an instrumental accompaniment. It seems that the title doesn't translate well. The person is putting the blame on the horses, for obeying his commands; which he cannot restrain himself from giving. My own opinion is that all of Diana's performances of this song (except one) and her performance of "You Survived Soldier" are her two greatest performances, to this date. On the other hand, I think that it would be a bit strange for someone to say that they liked or enjoyed it.

You're right, my friend...this is poetry to music. The song has nothing to do with horses, it's an allegory...horses are your life, they carry you to the abyss and you can't stop, but only urge them not to carry so fast...As you know, there are no delays to God.

I'm not clear about why you don't like this song or performance very much, but to each his own. To me it's a masterpiece of songwriting and Diana's interpretation is equally masterful. Her power to serve up a song's emotional intention is always remarkable, and in this case it's at a very high level. Did you miss that somehow? In fact, along with Rechenka and Crow, it's easily one of my 3 favourite Diana songs. Her first performance of it was at this same club two years ago, and I think it's a little better.
