I love that she said she reads a Psalm or other reading from the Bible usually daily. I have felt in her books that her writings about her characters' religious beliefs and practices were very realistic and authentic. And I have loved how she expressed the different religious paths of her characters with such realism and compassion.

The thing I enjoyed most of the Outlander was it’s Scottish elements. This series also brought out the best Scottish & Irish actors / actresses!

Apologies if this was mentioned before. I read that she had never been to Scotland when she started writing this. I wish I had watched the series before I went there last year!

I think she deserves way more credit...she brought written characters to life and set up a scenario in which they could both exist coming from different times that exceeded the bounds of the book. Not just into the series, but clearly into the hearts of fan and actor alike. Without her, there would've never been an Outlander.

I'm with you on that ...she has a way of writing a story so detailed that you actually imagine yourself being there...especially Fraser' Ridge...and Davina Porter tells it with the same effect ...

She is so humble, her books are extremely creative and were definitely born out of a one-of-a-kind brilliant mind. It is not so common to come across someone with the ability to create a world such as that of Outlander.

Diana- THANK YOU for every book in the outlander series. I’ve read them start with outlander and right to Go tell the Bees that I am gone. More than once and my favourite read. I’m now waiting for the next book ♥️😊 and pray that you have strength and all you need in the writing. I start reading the first book and still get excited about parts even knowing what would happen. Many of my friends… and myself- always picture Jamie as Liam Neeson’ character in Rob Roy. Brianna is pictured as the tall red head in that ‘70’s show. Imagination in the book actually let us down in the tv series. Especially when Murtagh was alive 😳😳.

Instead of "invents" I would call Claire and Brianna's efforts "develops." Ether was known as were efforts toward matches. Not much ever gets invented in this world, even Edison did not invent the light bulb, he just developed a better way. Much of science does not happen in a vacuum. Will there be a "prequel" detailing Claire's childhood up to marrying Frank and a little more about her war years?

Well Diana, I love (what little that I have seen) how your mind works. I am an amateur writer, all my life I have had stories and plots going on in my head but seldom put them on paper. Very similar to you, I am "in" the character when creating that part and also that the story continues in the middle of the night. Your books are such a wonderful read and more so because of the research of history and I know that it is as close to reality as you can make it. Thanks so much.

Yes please, more Master Raymond. More Denzel and his wife, find a life for Fanny, oh goodness, just keep writing your imaginative stories and fascinating characters, please. (Re Frank, he tried to steal Clair’s Daughter to punish her for not loving him. Not heroic, however there was the warning he put in his book..a regretful apology? Maybe he is just a human with very human flaws.)

After Bris read the letter of warning he left her, it occurred to me that Frank may have wanted to keep Bris near him so he could try to keep her safe. But yes, hard to reconcile that he was content to take her far away from her mother. Unless he thought that might also keep Brianna safer.

If Tobias Menzies can play both Frank and his ancestor's uncle, Black Jack Randall, then why can't Sam play Jamie's father? If you pick a heroine for Ellen, you should see the princess in The Knight's Tale, Shanyn Sossamon, who was a fantastic princess. .

I have a theory. Going back to the very first episode, Claire recalled how she tried to remember Frank's laugh during the war but she couldn't. Frank also revealed that he used to draw the lines of her palms all the time just so he could keep his memory of her. This even got him in trouble with his superiors because they felt he was distracted. One, who can remember the lines of someone's hands. I can't even remember my own. I believe that Frank grew up with a family story/legend that a woman named Claire Beauchamp traveled through the stones and crossed paths with Jack predicting his death even. That Claire's first husband was Frank. When Frank met and fell in love with Claire Beauchamp his intrigue for digging into family history led him to learn the details of Claire's palm lines. He drew them and had someone read them. He confirmed this was the family legendary Claire. This was very mysterious and alluring to him to dig into more so he planned the second honeymoon and in a sadistic Randall way took her to the old Mackenzie clan castle and made love to her there. As if taunting the past Jamie.

I want to know about Clair saving Jamie’s soul after his torture of Jack Randall. I read all of that more than once, but still don’t really understand what was going on there. Was Jamie possessed by a demon of some sort? A demon that Jack Randall put upon Jamie or maybe shared a demon or demons that Jack, himself has? Surely no one could be as sadistic as Jack Randall that is not possessed and controlled by demons. Lol

There is a thing used to treat trauma called revisiting or exposure. It is my interpretation that Claire was trying to give Jamie the opportunity to reclaim his power over the experience, essentially allowing him to rewrite it in his brain, so that he came out strong and not broken.

@@coradejong1014 Who am I? I am someone who asked a question. One that you clearly can not answer. I simply asked you where did she come off in the timeline as being full of herself. I asked you in a kind and non-aggressive way, I see that you have anger issues and lack communication skills as well. Why would I direct a question of this nature to the writer(like you recommended)when you are the ONLY one in this comment thread that said she was full of herself. Come on Cora de Jong just admit you are jealous. You are envious of her talent, her success, and her confidence. You can't even handle someone challenging you in a direct manner. Oh and please work on your grammar before you message back I found it very confusing, "She know it herself" for example isn't proper English. I will also add if she is so full of herself why torture yourself by listening to her "ALL the time" as you put it. Now that I am through with you, please pick yourself up and get a life. I detect an unnecessary amount of hostility in your responses. Get help, I promise it isn't healthy for you to be so mad.
