The evening with Ms. Ross at Red Rock on June 27, 2024, will go down as another bookmark in the Ross musical lore. The concert was delayed by 20 minutes because "technical difficulties," but I suspect it more because of the danger of the winds. Seated in row 4, towards the left end of the amphitheater, I had earlier walked up the stairs to the top to get a grand view of the iconic venue; but the prevailing winds were blowing garbage cans, pebbles, loose twigs and leaves around so I hurried back down to the safety of my seat. No more exploring. Ms Ross came on stage first, determined to get the show started and she was followed soon by her band. She tried her best to give her show some normalcy by singing "I'm Coming Out," followed by "More Today Than Yesterday," she then sang two Supremes songs (Baby Love, Stop! In The Name of Love) before jumping into "Touch Me In The Morning" and "Upside Down." The winds were so strong, that at times, it looked as if she was going to get blown off the stage. To brace herself, she used her microphone stand as an anchor and when the wind blew harder, she sat herself down on the drum stage and later, in a chair. Dramatically, her feathered gown acted both as a shield and a punisher. Her hair also wrapped around her face to do the same. At one point, she said it reminded her of her amazing concert at Central Park, where she bravely faced Mother Nature and defeated her wrath. This night was no different. Finally, she jumped into her medley of Love Hangover/Take Me Higher/Ease On Down The Road, when she suddenly left the stage, leaving her singers and band to improvise for several minutes, at which time, a stage hand came out to announce that the show would have an intermission due to expected high winds. At the first the crowd started to brace themselves and put on protective rain gear. Obviously, several audience members have been to shows at Red Rock and were prepared. When the winds came, it seemed the panels above the stage were going to be blown off and fall. The crowd started to disperse - some seeking shelter, others to call it the night. After 30 to 40 minutes of wind and rain, I started to think that they were going to cancel the rest of the show but then, the band members started to take their place on the stage with Fred White, one of Diana Ross' singers, urging the crowd to cheer! Soon the familiar strains of "The Boss" echoed thru the amphitheater and Ms Ross returned to the stage as if there was nothing to worry about! Afterwards, she jumped into her medley of "Theme from Mahogany" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," before she jumped into "I Will Survive." She ended the evening with "Thank You" from her new album. In total, the show was barely an hour long - if you don't count the delayed start and the intermission. Although it was short, it was sweet and dramatic! I had drove 12 hours to see the concert and it'll be another 12 hour drive home. Was it worth it? Heck yes! Just for the experience, alone. I embraced friends, chatted with a few band members and saw a show that was the closest thing to her iconic Central Park show that I thought I would never experience live! Also, Ms. Ross saw one of the photos that I took and posted it on her page! Exciting! If I had to live this show over, I wouldn't change a thing!

Well you can see here, she definitely does not lip sync. She really fought through the elements that night. 80 years old and amazing.

I tell you, when she drank that water her voice came RIGHT BACK, solid! She’s slimmed down quite a bit, and her face is flawless. Go on Miss Ross!

Thank you! I don’t know why the news didn’t pick up these clips and compare it to Central Park. They’re pretty amazing.

Central Park was an event, we were all anticipating the televised event, great comparison though. One thing for sure, she's a pro, no nonsense at all, she gets the job done. When she asked for the water is telling; the wind must have been giving the singers dry throat, and all. Kudos to the backup singers too; great clip here

Diana Ross' music epitomizes a landmark era in music history and continues to captivate audiences today. However, her performances are often marked by frequent fidgeting and occasional technical difficulties, which often delay the show. At this point in her illustrious career, it may be fitting for Ms. Ross to explore a return to the jazz and blues styles reminiscent of her role in Lady Sings the Blues. These genres offer greater scope for improvisation, providing a refreshing contrast to the structured pop Motown classics of The Supremes and her early solo endeavors, which demand more of a verbatim performance. Nevertheless, I'd still pay to see her perform, regardless. Always!

An icon. Saw her in Detroit a few weeks back at the Michigan Central reopening concert with Jack White and Eminem. She has lost some weight but at 80 it really doesn’t matter.

She sounds much better than the Gladys Knight concert I went to at the GSR in May. That was the most disappointing farewell concert I have ever attended. The performance wasn’t even an hour long and the orchestra and her accompaniment singers were so loud, you couldn’t hardly hear a thing Gladys said or sang. I am looking forward to attending Diana Ross’s concert in August.

Excellent version! Today Dionne Warwick believes in being true to her elderly ladies voice by not pushing it as it's in very rusty shape today. Let's offer her praise that she can still sing and attract interest at 85! Beautiful effort ❤

The woman was and always will be a Living Legend! ❤❤❤ This is what separates her from the rest of the pack. The winds hit up to 40-50 mph and she still performed once she confirmed the audience would be safe.

Love her but I didnt go and see her the last 2 times she came to my city simply because she does the EXACT SAME LINEUP as she has been doing for the past 10 yrs with mostly the same costumes. She needs to switch up a lot. Still looking SUPERB and she is still able to move but she needs to invest in new costumes and add some different songs. She can still sing most of her stuff.

@@mlane8980 okay then but I say she does. Everybody needs to change up when they have a stage play now because everyone has a cell phone and is all over the internet. Each and every show. This is the exact same show that she had when she was there year before last.

@@Mr21scott what does 80 years old have to do with anything? You saying that she can't remember the lyrics to any of her other songs because she is 80? Are you saying that she can't step into a different looking dress the same way she steps into the same ones? No no no, no excuse.
