Well done for making your own pastry - next time grease the tins with butter, don't use paper cases and press the walnuts into discs so they cover the bottom and sides of the holes, then put in the mincemeat and the pastry top. x

Here's a huge tip to anyone who cant open a lid off a jar is bang the lid part on the edge of your counter not too too hard but give it a good enough tap and do that around the lid in a full circle and the lid should open easily after that. I think ita cuz your knocking trapped air out somehow

Yes, definitely just roll out your pastry, use a cutter and line the baking tin holes rather than using pastry cases! Then fill with a teaspoon of mincemeat and cut out smaller circles on top. But the mince pies looked delicious anyway and the pastry looked fab! I hope you had a lovely Christmas despite everything and sending you lots of love!
