🎤 Narrative
Luisiana is one of the fifteen towns of the province of Laguna in the Philippines. Luisiana occupies 7,500 hectares comprising of fifteen barrios: De la Paz, San Diego , San Domingo, San Pablo , San Roque, San Antonio , San Isidro , San Juan , San Pedro, San Salvador , San Buenaventura, San Jose , San Luis, San Rafael , and Santo Tomas.
Luisiana nestles on a small plateau at the southeastern tip of Laguna on a high elevation of 1,400 feet above sea level, barricaded by a massive wall of coconut trees and refreshingly cooled by the gentle breeze coming from the Sierra Madre and Banahaw Mountains.
Luisiana, Laguna being an agricultural municipality is blessed with abundant Pandan trees.
From these trees, residents of Luisiana have long been source their daily income from weaving pandan. Pandan is an integral part of the lives of Lusyanahins. From pag-hihininik, pag-linas, pag-ilo and the weaving itself, though my finished products are not as great as those from the professional weavers
With all the artistic, experienced and professional weavers in Luisiana there is an unlimited products that can be made out of pandan. Of what I understand there is a coop and center that would be glad to accommodate orders, if one would like to order pandan products.
While browsing pages of Luisiana, Laguna in Facebook account I’ve noticed images or screenshots of an article from the DTI’s magazine OTOPreneur in their June 2010 issue featuring our pandan products and the Luisiana Weavers Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LWMPC). I find it amazing that our pandan products already make it mark in some ways.

The DTI magazine also mentioned that for the past few years that the LWMPC been participating in competitions on indigenous and innovative products the coop’s novel design of pandan gown and suit won the “Best Gown” and the “Most Innovative Indigenous Material” awards.
The cooperative also earned a Presidential Citation of the “Most Environment-Friendly OTOP Product-Bayong Category” during the 2nd National OTOP Congress at the Philippine Trade Training Center.
These citations prove how well our pandan product can be and we should strive to make our pandan products better and more appealing to customers… more customers translates to better income opportunity for Lusyanahins.
