More dice to roll! Wee!! Great review as always Tom. I need as many intro games as I can. My friends aren't the board game playing types. I'm trying my best to steer them away from their damn mobile phones and computers. :D

Actually this reminds me of a dice version of imperial settlers.

Regarding the stealing of resources: I have not played the game, but what if you house-ruled it so that you discard down to 1 of each resource at the start of your turn instead of the end? That way, having resources stolen could sometimes be mitigated by having extras in your possession until your own turn.

Does the gameplay feel similar to Rattlebones, as opposed to Kingsburg?

It's an okay game, I think, but a bit too generic. Maybe it hasn't wowed me yet because so far I haven't been able to find a decent strategy. I also find it very difficult to keep track of what my opponents are doing.

Is this better than Machi Koro? Both game seems similar to me

I wonder if you could house rule it where the swords permanently kill a building instead of putting that token on them...
@philyates76704 жыл бұрын
That might actually make the game better.

it was a good game. We had a session 2nd day of Essen and we enjoyed the game. Attacking other players is not needed at all. You better attack bandits.

I had a chance to play this one at Gencon. You can cut the down time down by rolling and prepping your dice on other players' turns although that will not totally eliminate it, it cuts it dramatically. Would say its good but not great. I would not prefer it over Kingsburg or Alien Frontiers, would you Tom? I'm guessing not since it didnt make it into your collection.

+snowren24 it actually is how they explained it to us. you have to roll and prep the dice at the end of your tun so the other guy can decide on who to attack

Kinda feels like if stone age had an expansion that introduced bandits/vs system that this would be the dice game for it. Not sure if that's really true but it feels kinda like it. Looks like a pretty fun game. thanks for video.

+Advocatus Diaboli Machi Koro is the better comparison, I think.

Maybe. This game looks god awful and first glance. I've got the idea dice games should have a smaller footprint too.

Again a game i'm glad i picked it up at Essen. For us a machi koro killer.

+smolle You prefer it to Machi Koro? Why is that?
@smolle89068 жыл бұрын
Because you can do so much more in your turn and you never have a turn where you can't do anything. Machi koro is just all about getting the right number and here every number is someting you can use.

+smolle wow I'll have to check it out then... I do love machi koro

I bought this game as an alternate to Machi Koro, but ended up feeling let down. The general play is okay but it's just not fun. This is because of the lack of player interaction. Other than attacking other players occasionally, which no one ever does, you're just doing your own thing. As a result it's s fairly quick game, but boring. I much prefer Machi Koro and Quadropolis. Overall verdict? Unless an expansion dramatically changes anything, give this a miss. It's severely lacking and the other two games are similar and a lot more fun. I see this more as a precursor to Kingsburg rather than a rival or alternative. Kingsburg has a lot more going on and is an amazing game with a lot more depth and strategy. I would use Dice City as an intro to a resource gathering and dice placement game, if you're with a player new to games, then play Kingsburg or Santa Maria afterwards.

The gameplay is a bit generic, but the dice building part is excecuted much better than Rattlebones.
@clumsydad71587 жыл бұрын
It does seem generic. The thing with the bandits and ships seems tacked on, but I guess you can say odd tracks are tacked onto a lot of games. But yeah, not interested

Used to own this game, it gets very long and tedious... player do eventually just gets bored and gives up, too much aimless rolling and a lot of down time of you doing your own stuff in your board while people gives up looking at your turn Also the cards is super tiny, it doesnt help at all... pretty bad game tbh

This game is BORING ... ZZZ... another "bored" game I don't need to buy !!!
