*As the co-founder of Chic,* Nile, "I wasn't making too much money," and went on to become one of the biggest record producers of our time, never mind a multi-millionaire. A True-Legend.

I love them, but they were not a rock and roll band. They were the best of the disco acts.

@@StarfieldRailway Chic was actually more than a "disco act;" they were maybe the best assembled musicians of the era. After the group disbanded, Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, and Tony Thompson had their fingerprints all over popular music of the 80s. Nile produced many elite artists, like Madonna, Duran Duran, David Bowie, David Lee Roth, and INXS. Bernard produced Rod Stewart and the Power Station, among others. Tony manned the kit behind several artists, and though Phil Collins got the lion's share of the credit for playing drums for Led Zeppelin at Live Aid, Tony actually did most of the heavy lifting, off to the side. The ladies in the band, Alfa Anderson and Luci Martin, sang behind several stars in the 80s. The backlash against disco was driven by racism, sexism, and homophobia; if Donna Summer (who I love) is in, Chic should be also. Nile's rhythm guitar has been copied by so many others, it ain't even funny. Chic belongs...

Dick Clark did the kind of quick interview that you're supposed to do. He was the shit. Know the band he was interviewing, ask relevant questions of each band member (even backup singers - yay) and let every person speak within a three minute time frame. What happened to that? Commercials? Nah. Let's think about this.
