I still think Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 is a killer lens out there for a wedding filmmaker .

As someone with the 28-70 f2 lens, which is heavier than this. It's more about balance than weight. The lens did feel like a pain to use initially, but by adding weight to the body by getting the battery grip, the overall lens/body system felt lighter because the center of gravity was closer to where you hold the camera and you're fighting it less. You're only lifting it up and not trying to lift it up and fight against the whole thing wanting to rotate downward due to being front heavy. It's probably going to be the same for this lens.

Canon is really focusing on the professional photographers and high end. Us amateurs are being priced out and Sony and Nikon are beginning to look more attractive cost wise with 3rd party options.

I have to agree with you. Canon has always been high ticket. Sony knows Canon cripples new releases whether it’s through price gouging or the fine print in certain features.

If Canon made the RF mount incompatible with EF lenses, there would have been a huge uproar. Instead, they made every lens able to be compatible, and gave everyone the ability to decide if they wanted to upgrade those lenses with control rings or a filter mount or save money. They launched the RF line with a fully mature, highly praised set of lenses. Not only their own, but third party lenses as well. And then each year, with each new RF batch of lenses, they released both L and non-L lenses, including this year. (Look up the Wikipedia RF mount article for the time line of lens releases.) And yet somehow, despite all this, people love to complain that amateurs are being forgotten.

That is a mega lens. It's awesome, but the form factor might be a breaking point - being longer than an EF 24-105 with an RF adapter.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this. So appealing in terms of focal range but basically like carrying a 70-200 all day.. and does it even gimbal? 🤷🏻‍♂️👀

He didn’t. In the video he is just assuming based on experience with the Tamron 35-135. Which is fine, but he doesn’t appear to have ever used the lens - it’s not a review. He read a press release and spec sheet.

Really thought of getting it and sell my 24 - 70mm 2.8 But. On long videomaking-days even the 24-70mm is heavy on a rig. And dont get my started on the DJI RS3. Its heavy as sh*t.. So i will get the not so exciting 24-105 beside my 24-70mm for jobs, where i need the extra 35mm on the long end to not switch lenses so much. 24-105 .28 was a dealbreaker with 20cm length and about 1,5 kg. And I dont want a stabilizing west to can handle the weight on full day videowork. And on top i can get my second camera (R6 II) plus the 24-105 F4 for just a bit more money. Thanks for the video!

Totally makes sense to me!! This thing is heavy and long which makes run and gun shooting a bit more cumbersome. I’m sure it’s a beautiful piece of glass but in the world of practicality and simplicity. It definitely doesn’t excel

The new sony 24-70 to me is a bigger game changer considering how light it is for that type of zoom. This seems too big for a wedding filmmaker. For a sports videographer or photographer this would be amazing

The price (3600 €) is ridiculous ! And that for one stop gain ??? I'd rather use a higher Iso which isn't a problem on my R6 And use denoise in post.

Canon is just making sure that they want to keep rumors alive that we are coming up with third party lens but in reality thy are not serious thy want you bay their over price lenses.😅

As I know videographers always try to shoot with budget lenses,canon is the flagship,Canon 24-105 F2.8 is very expensive and weighs a lot more,it's probably for photographers,native lenses are probably better for Sony cameras,for example,I know that Canon p6 m2 is the best for photos and Sony cameras for weddings,I prefer lumix cameras, they are cheaper and more reliable

I'm still with Canon (for photos) with the R5 and R8. I shoot Panasonic for video. Even though this was one of the lenses I've been waiting for, it's too .... lots of stuff. Too long. Too heavy. Too expensive. I don't think I will be moving down that path.

Its SIZE-WEIGHT-PRICE is Big NO. Wedding Photographers already have ACCESS TO GOOD LIGHTING.

“Review”? You never touched it? I value your opinion and experience, but don’t call this a review when you actually never used the lens to speak about its performance. You’re taking an educated guess, so it would be your opinion - or at best, your first thoughts.
