Double the print run of base cards to 129,000,000,000,000 then build homeless shelters in California... for veterans... with the base cards. 2. Make sports cards fun again. Put QR codes on cards to be scanned to receive t-shirts, 50ct. box of binder pages w/ binders, free hobby box, tickets to sporting events and maybe something young collectors would enjoy. Help make sports fun again. 3. Try to print "guaranteed Gem Mint 11 cards". Focus initially on cutting the cards "well centered". Meaning the borders are equal. Reply to this comment and I will relinquish information about how to receive the "loaded boxes". Most importantly have a great weekend.

You have a good point . I believe we are on our way to another over priced junk wax era ! Kids are the future of the hobby and when I was a kid it was great to buy a pack of cards for 90 cents and thinking we made it big until years later that there where millions of those cards . I collect Thurmon Munson got most of his base cards thank god there are not thousands like there are now for players !

Unregulated Gambling…..it’s all about the gambling factor. The industry was always built on mixing chase cards with over printed base cards, otherwise why would anyone buy the retail box.

Since Fanatics took over PWCC, things have really become a mess. Their customer service support team is terrible. It actually doesn't exist. I had to call Fanatics and after 4 calls I finally got thru to a person. I have 8 cards in my vault that are unaccounted for. The supervisor in charge of fixing things said she would contact PWCC and let me know where they're at. It's been over 2 weeks since that phone call and I still don't have any idea where they're at. I spent 4 weeks with PWCC trying to find out where these 8 cards were. Finally, I had to call Fanatics. It's been over 6 weeks now and I still have 8 cards ($5,000) unaccounted for.

I also thought that fanatics was going to have a IPO on the ny stock exchange, the cards cost too much with little to no value. Who would want to invest in bad products?

I only collect. I have sold like 4 cards since 1988. I regretted selling those and have bought similar cards back, with slight upgrade in grade or PSA vs SGC. I have NEVER looked at cards as being an investment. I have collected mainly one player since 1988 and his card values are solid, never will go down and always inch upwards. But i planned on giving my collection to my nephew after my days are over since i have no kids of my own.

Hello Doc, love the channel! In my opinion, in such a tough highly inflated economy.. It seems so out of touch to think people will have excess funds to drive a card market forward. The vast amount of collectors would easily shun excessive priced product out of necessity. They need, in my opinion, to gain the loyalty and love of both the young and old in the hobby. People should not feel used and foolish making a purchace.

I like your take but only one take I don't like. I like the odds. My son brought a blaster box and got a gold auto numbered to 5. He was able to get a nice card without spending or emptying the bank. Everyone has a chance at autos and relics from people making 30k a year to people making 100k a year.

I like a lot of what you said I just doubt they'd bring the price of boxes down to 10 dollars or something like that especially since they already sell out pretty fast depending on the set. As long as it's a good product with good stuff to try to pull they'll sell just fine at the current prices. I think youtubers buying up multiple boxes or the whole shelf out doesn't help. That's a big reason why I feel they wouldn't have any incentive to lower the price. A thing they should do is not put a bunch of base cards in there. Maybe make it easier to find individual packs at a lower price for families and kids that Just want something cheap. When I was young I didn't really even know about the boxes I don't think cause my dad always got me the single packs of topps basketball with like 5 cards in a pack. It can also depend on the area but I live in a big city and if a product is really popular it can be hard for me to find one sometimes and there's multiple targets, walmarts and meijers to choose from. If boxes were even cheaper than it'd be probably harder for a kid to get some in my opinion.

Rubin doesn't want to 10x the hobby it wants to 10x Rubin.... Hostile takeover of the hobby. Push it's competitors out (panini) and eventually upper deck. Exclusive licensing for all sports leagues... Make lcs proxy Lids/fanatics...

I don't know why you want to speak about things that make total sense, when Rubin doesn't really seem to want to hear anything that makes real sense. I think he bought something with no real thought about what he wanted to do with it beforehand. I really think he's in it to make his profit, and then he'll get out, and like you said, the hobby is what is going to suffer in the long run. Great video Doc! I really enjoyed this one.

The worst thing Fanatics has done? I believe the Jersey debacle damages the brand enough to demonstrate that they don't care about the customer at all. They just want to extract 10x more $ from the customers pocket without a return in value. As you always point out Doc these are collectibles that have a built in Receny Bias for them. The over-whelming vast majority of these cards are cannon fodder.

Fanatics created a business of chasing the hits……They can charge more money for boxes and cases because they are distributed through breakers…. Who are happy to pay the premium for those loaded boxes….They have turned the hobby into a casino….I have been a collector since the 80’s….I won’t buy any wax today because of the high price points and high print runs….There is no value….

It's not Fanatics it's the sports leagues only allowing one company to monopolize the licenses .... hence why Topps makes trash with their MLB license. If MLB licenses could be handed out to more companies, we would have better products through competition, like companies with quality product such as Bandai. Fanatics is only going to continue on the path of Topps with their monopolized licenses. Putting out trash. Fanatics can't destroy the hobby. They can't go back in time and destroy vintage, and cards produced shortly after that.... collectors will continue to collect no matter what Fanatics does. Who cares if Fanatics can't 10x the hobby. The sports leagues need to hand out more licenses period.... that will grow the hobby.

great video and way to call out fanatics and rubin. the worst thing they have done is whore out the breaking industry. breakers are given tons and tons of product, at wholesale, and encouraged to sell directly on fanatics live and make 300-500% profit. why cant a jor schmoe like me buy a case at even a 10% discount? they dont care about us. they want us addicted to gambling on our cards. if i see another breaker acting like theyre taking a loss breaking ANY product, ill puke.

Well worst thing fanatics has done is take over too much of the Hobby with all theses licenses. Basically monopolize the production side of the hobby. And my serious thought is the worst is yet to come. They will way overproduce cards & over commoditize the whole thing. Also I don't think you can 10X the hobby. That is a bogus goal in itself. By that statement you are telling me upfront you are gonna jam cards down the hobby throat. That is what that statement says to me by Fanatics. Where's the quality statement, the fun aspects, the collectible aspects? I'm not hearing that and Fanatics really just strikes me as Mr Big taking over without much planning or thought for collectors. Like Frantically bad 10X the hobby.

The title of this video is absolutely absurd. No hobbies in there right mine would give fanatics that kind of power. True hobbies don’t give a shit what fanatics does, it’s up to us to have fun. Someone needs to tell Sam Rubin there were 1,000X more kids collecting during the junk wax era than today . He needs to bring that number back up if he wants to save the hobby from crashing 💥
