Finally! The review I've been waiting for! p.s. watching on my Omen 14 :) @BenGKaiser, great review as always. One question, does your IR camera (Win Hello) produces a flickering light that bleeds onto the OLED panel (when its searching for your face during the unlocking phase)? It's very much visible in a dark-lit environment or at night. Not sure if it an isolated issue or just a design/placement of IR camera

Hi, I noticed that in the omen hub where you select performance mode, there is some "advanced seetings" option available. What does this do ? Cause I dont see this option on my laptop, thanks

No gsync, low power gpu and there are quite a few reports of usb c chargers not working on it… not quite the G14 killer they expected, I think

Those battery life tests are not very real, as very few of us would use those metrics, like 20% brightness (OLED is at its best with higher brightness and HDR), low-power mode, keyboard lighting off, iGPU only (pain to switch every time; where is the auto-switch?), and 120Hz off. It paints a picture very few of us would see. I find that the actual SOT is much lower in real life, away from YT reviews. Just a thought to help real people! The rest of the review was very comprehensive and informative; thanks!

I bought the normal Omen 16 as a cheap 4070 laptop for my son, and it has been stellar! Vastly higher quality than expected and top tuning options: i undervolted through their software the 13700HX by 0.250V, so it never becomes noisy. it runs full 140w the 4070 ! So Im looking to buy the 14th 4060 for me :)

The tech is cool, the asthetic is something my 11 year old would love. I personally won't be whipping out the rgb pillow keyboard at client meetings. There's a reason it comes with all that rgb, it's meant to be played in the dark... alone.

I got my G14 a couple weeks ago for $900 at Best Buy w/ a Ryzen 9 & 4060 and I upgraded the RAM to 48GB. Not sure how this is a "G14 killer" when the 4050 version is more expensive w/ 16GB.

I love the aesthetics of this laptop and the weight for a 14 inch gaming laptop is not bad. I would love to see a direct comparison with the Asus Zephyrus G14 2024 model.

@@houssamalucad753 Wow! I think someone wrote the HP has 60w to the GPU, but still it's a huge difference in power. It is still not understood what's the best 14" model to get if you use Davinci + After effects etc. Everything is capped at 32GB. Battery life seems low [tops you'll get 2 hours]. So, they don't leave us any options really as to settle for a 2024 G14 and hope it doesn't go up in flames from the heat...

NEED to understand which 14" model wilp be best for After Effects+ Davinci video editing. (And if we're better off buying a 2023 model that you can upgrade to 64GB RAM cause everything 2024 is soldered)

@@albertoeffe8524Man..Hard to get the 2023 model. And if you find one, then it's not with a 4070 + 4080. Only lower GPUs. There is a Yoga 9i 14" laptop from 2023 with 64GB, but it's battery life is 1.5 hours. So, it's not a laptop to me.

Check out the MSI Stealth 14 and Razer Blade 14, you can upgrade 2 slots of RAM to get to 64GB

@@MyronZhao I appreciate the recommnedation. The MSI looks plasticy and I see people complain about the build quality and hinges breaking apart. Althought I understand ASUS are flakey as well. And that's concerning. With the G14 2023 you can get a 32GB setup > Take out one 16GB stick and replace it with a single 48GB stick >> So you get 64GB altogether. Yoga 9i also has 64GB but a battery life of 1.5 hours, which is nothing.

Also, lots of keyboard flex (though his video doesn't clearly show it), uglier design, and weaker machine. Also, the TGP is only 50-65w. Hardly what I would call a "gaming" laptop, given the Omen name.

Idk why all the laptops in india are so costly. The omen transcend starts from 175k inr which is pretty unaffordable for the 4060 model. Just hoping that asus would reduce the price of zephyrus g14 2024 variant.

Any specs on Battery life while working on heavier tasks using the i9 + 4070 OMEN? Got a hunch the intel processor will leave us with like 1.5 hours of video editing on battery. That's why I'm worried about intel CPU's on laptops compared to AMD...

Even with AMD you'd be lucky to get 2h on heavy use. You'd need a macbook or those future ARM laptops to get more...

@@houssamalucad753GodDamn! You serious? I thought AMD CPU's have much better battery life and are even faster than intel with the latest versions. No way I'm switching to Apple. Our only hope, then, is Qualcomm's CPU's, and it will take a few years for them to base their technology, I guess. For now, the problem is..there are no 14" options with 64GB RAM. It's insane.

@@houssamalucad753 I was thinking about waiting for the new Qualcomm laptops, but I have a feeling we might need to give them like 3 generation of laptops to establish themselves first. I don't even know if Adobe apps + Davinci will work on those new CPU's. Regarding the MAC M2 ...wow...a laptop that can work 18 hours or so- is a dream. But, I can't move to OSX. It's too much hassle.

@@eladbari you'd get used to it quickly, I switch between mac and windows regularly depending on what features I need at the time. OSX is not too annoying if your softwares are compatible.

@allowa5220 have you heard about desk setup with laptops? You can use external monitor, keyboard and mouse. And it will be way better experience than playing on laptop of any size. But with 14 inch laptops, you can also just take them to work without having a feeling of carrying a brick.
