I'm sorry but I would ship that box back to them, that box is NOT worth $300. The KS looks like the power rangers costumes.

I've stopped doing any of the Thredup boxes because the last two I got were complete junk. I don't know how it's okay for them to sell boxes with fake purses when it's illegal for anyone else to do it. Thredup has become a straight up scam.

That first weird scuba item said it all. OMG!

ThredUp is shady and has been for some time. They make sellers wait 8 weeks for the payout and give you pennies for items that are new with tags. They also keep everything, unless you pay for items to be returned, and then sell those free-to-them items to resellers or purchasers like yourself. I applaud you for doing this video to help shed some light on the true nature of their practices.

If I had spent $300 on a box, even if it’s secondhand, I would fully expect that the clothes would be impeccable, or at least the flaws totally inconspicuous. Several of those flaws would make those pieces unacceptable to wear in a professional setting, even a casual one, with the stains, holes, raw hem, etc. they advertise like they vet these items. Thanks for this, I will never play Russian roulette with this company on the mere hope I will get one or two things that are acceptable

everyone that bought these boxes have reported being scammed.

ThreadUp is such a scam... I have never gotten anything worth even remotely close to what I paid. Damaged items, out of style items, and now these “final sale” and restocking fees...it’s ridiculous. They put excellent items in some boxes to keep people hopeful. I will never, ever purchase or sell to ThreadUp ever, ever again.

I have dealt with Thredup in the past. I learned my lesson on that company many years ago and I love all the unboxing but I don't trust this company. They scam everyone and everyone keeps buying from them. They will stay in business if we keep feeding them. I choose not to support them.

The fact that thread up is always trying to price a forever 21 romper at a higher price than it was originally is a scam in itself. They suck.

The Longchamp Has plastic around the rivets inside and a plastic tag inside with info of where it's made and a verification code, that looks fake

I knew thred up was a scam when I sent them over 30 pieces of clothing and they gave me $9.00 for it all

Most people actually have a foot that is 1/2 a size larger than the other, so I don't think that the mismatch size was an error. If they are designer they may have gotten the opportunity to be fitted properly and sold that way.

Thred up SUCKS! Every time I've looked on the site there has been nothing good and I was wondering why the hell everyone was saying it was so good. I figured it out after watching a video of one of their partners. She talked about how when partnering with Thred up the don't get first pick like people thought and she had to look for weeks for enough good clothing to make a sponsored video. IMHO if you need to look so hard for decent clothing, they don't deserve your recommendation. These influencers are only after the money which really pisses me off bc some of my most loved KZfaqrs have partnered with them.

I would file a claim with my bank or with PayPal if you paid through them !

El Ducho's rational for why people would rightly expect this box to be higher quality than the DIY Designer box is spot on and worthy of filing a complaint with the Attorney General in the company's state headquarters. KZfaq is brimming with experienced sellers who purchased DIY Designer boxes and expected a higher quality curated selection in the more expensive box Very disappointing and condescending customer service reply. Attorney General's in most states have a website with a downloadable complaint form.

Just so everyone is aware, I feel ThredUP makes it clear that a rescue box is made up of clothes that did not pass their criteria (meaning tears, stains, missing tags, etc.) The possible fake purse is a problem though.

Idk I have mixed feelings. Thredup is basically the only place I buy clothes bc I want to reduce waste, and I sell but not for a profit, just to clean out stuff I don’t wear. I don’t do the boxes, I search for items and brands I know. The fees definitely aren’t good and I try to find ways around them with codes and stuff. I’m not looking for designer stuff, just brands with reliable staples like gap, madewell, and maurices sometimes.

These are items you find at the bins, certainly not in a $300 box. Frankly it seems like ThreadUp did some shopping at the bins and just wanted to charge people a crazy amount of money for items that will inevitably be donated again. Kate Spade Saturday went defunct in 2015, I don't know anyone my age or younger buying Milly of New York (except vintage pieces), fake Longchamp, mismatched Manolos!?!? Ridiculous. I'm really sorry this happened to you.

I wish I had seen this before I bought one of their designer boxes. They no longer care if they send you a fake item, OR if they send you essentially garbage. I got 3 really, really bad boxes. I live in a wonky area where sourcing is kinda hard.. so I source online when/if possible to supplement and make up for the fact that a thrift run typically doesn't result in profit. One box smelled SO bad, even my dry cleaner didn't get the odor out. One coat smelled so badly of sweat/BO that it took extra effort to get it stink free. A second box had been seemingly purposely destroyed. Buttons ripped off items, fabric cut. THe one that took the cake was getting a fake designer bag. Their response is that it's not fake and indeed real, I am just picky about condition. I will never shop with them again. I used up all my credit with them today and that's it. It's so frustrating that they send out their garbage and try to make money off of it!

on the jeans, there is this tube of stuff, it's about the size of a small tube of tooth paste you can get at walmart they sell in the laundry soap section, it costs like 2.79 or something close. can't remember the name but you use it on clothes that have been stained by mixing colors in the wash. follow the directions and it might save those. it's worked on white jeans my ex washed with new shirts.

You might actually be able to sell the shoes. I once sold Clarks that were different sizes. I called them "mismates" in the title and then made sure to list what size each shoe was in the description and they actually sold.

Hi. Lovely video there. I get to a kick out of some resellers as I see so many of them buying clothing boxes from companies that are not meant or targeted for the sole purpose of reselling. Goodwill and thread up is not technically a wholesale or liquidation company that is made for resellers in my humble opinion. I would go out of the box a bit and try via trading or other actual wholesale companies that are meant specifically for resellers. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to try a box from the company you show in this video but I would buy it for personal use only, not for reselling purposes. Good luck and keep that hustle

The fact that they will sell you an item claiming its in good condition, but they would "reject" it if you were to attempt to sell it to them really says it all.

I think its terrible to be ripped off but at the same time how can anyone think 300 dollars will get you a complete box of up market designer gear is beyond me.

I sold a ton of designer and name brand clothing half was new with tags. Thred up IS A SCAM. They listed things to where I’d make $1-$4. I asked for 15 items back when they were eligible and they only sent me 7! I’m livid! They confirmed sending the items back to me then didn’t. Their customer service is the worst too.

Thread Up is definitely a scam for buyers and sellers. I had $200 jeans new with TAGS and they gave me $5 for them. I'd rather just donate my items. $5 doesn't even cover the cost of my time.

This is why I no longer support Thredup. I like the concept, but they always waaaay overprice items. Also they offer a service where you can sell your clothes to them, and oftentimes theyll underpay people then charge like triple what they offered the individual on their website. Instead I try to support individual sellers on Poshmark and Depop

after watching these, i understand why i am selling so many bundles to resellers...this is just wrong for the company to do...three hundred dollars for that garbage...im so sorry

Yeah in the past 2 weeks, I've watched many reseller videos showing their Designer hauls from ThredUp, and they were definitely unhappy. They knew the difference between both boxes so they also felt they'd been scammed a little. When they called ThredUp with complaints, they were only offered very small partial refunds.

With the $90 designer box u get 7 items. I new as I seen these box on thred up they where made especially for resellers, even though they don’t market them as reseller boxes. They new resellers couldn’t go out to thrift & new resellers would buy them.

I bought a pair of jeans in the plus size section that were listed as 24’s. They were kids jeans and they didn’t want to take them back. I kept contacting customer service until someone gave me my money back. 😡

I’m so sorry this happened to you and the them, truly. This is outrageous. The idea of capitalizing on resellers sourcing and then saying you misunderstood? Ummm 🤔 This is not your first rodeo sourcing. I’d never buy a thing from them now or from their huge store on eBay.

I don't understand what you were expecting...all was designer, and of course some of this stuff will be stained, marked out, etc...you are an experienced seller! The two different sized shoes is bad...but understandable. 1/2 size difference, but that won't help you sell them. I wouldn't say it was a "scam". Just a way for them to unload stuff...unfortunate, but not all total junk...

Conspiracy theory: the box sends out all the damaged out items

U have such a good attitude bc Im pissed for u. I signed up with Thread up when they 1st came about and I read a lot of the terms and decided not to do anything with them. Fast forward I started seeing all the videos for them so I decided to go go and request a bag. Its been weeks now and the bag never started tracking. If one more person tells me "Its due to Covid". Even with a pandemic how long does it take to get a plastic bag from FedEx?? Thread up told me it was a 33 week wait but I thought they meant after I sent the stuff in lol not to get started. Smh. I hope u got your $ back this is a mess.

Wow !!! That’s very bad customer service. This looks very bad what can you possibly do with a pair of shoes that are 2 different sizes.

I was going to order one of their boxes where they just send you a bunch of stuff designer or not and you pick what you want. It took forever to process, over a month and I told them to just cancel the order. I ended up looking through their site and most of their stuff looks very worn and not worth the price. I’d rather just pay an extra $10 and get a brand new item from Old Navy or Target. It all looked terrible, even the designer items.

So many people are getting scammed with these boxes. I would never buy used clothing without hand picking it myself. This will always happen and you can't return!!!! As long as people keep buying they will keep scamming people out of money. I stopped buying untill I can get out and pick it myself for much cheaper. Sorry this happend to you and others!!!

Your Zenon reference was awesome. I can definitely see that scuba thing being something that most people in the sewing community could just make themselves... I've never worked with scuba material before but come on KS. We all know you can do better than that. I wonder if ThredUp has a team of people who actually check the authenticity of the high end brand products because there are so many authentic looking knockoffs on sites like aliexpress, wish, etc and it can be hard to notice if you don't know what you're looking for. The reason the tan shoes may have had the black sharpie over the name on the sole could be because they were initially purchased at a store like Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. I’ve seen both of them do that with name brand items to prevent people from buying them and then trying to return them to the actual brand’s store.

I’ve seen two other proud owners of these boxes. You are not alone. It’s a scam. They are challenging it with their credit card company after only being offered 10 percent back. Awful. Someone said the best way to get resolution is through their Facebook site. Different folks there and it’s more visible.

I gave up with Thredup months ago because they're so shady. They "lost" my items I sent in, some I ordered. So hard to contact. I always wondered what these boxes were like. I have been to the Mechanicsburg warehouse sale. That was very disappointing as well. Poor lighting and bins of crappy clothes to dig through.
