My friends ‪@RomanSharf‬ , Gary & Adrian ‪@LuxuryBazaar‬ offered my some Opals last time I went up to Luxury Bazaar and I picked up this 5.00 ct blue opal for $1000. To see if I got a good price had to shop around with my gemstone and opal dealers uncut gems style to see what the true price is. Lucky for me the Opal I purchased for $1000 is really worth $5000. Thanks Gary,

100% I bought a bag of jewelry from a garage sale one time for a great deal. There was a gold ring with diamonds and 12 sterling silver rings some of which were huge. They were like the gothic armor rings. I took the gold ring to a jewelry shop and they offered me $90 and said it was for just the gold value which was not even close to the scrap price of gold and told me the diamonds were worthless. I took it to a pawn shop down the road and they offered me $250 for the ring. Took all The silver rings to a different pawn shop and they told me they were fake. I got a silver testing kit and tested them myself and only one of them was fake.

Opals aren’t rare, neither are diamonds or emeralds. Now gold. Gold holds it worth. Diamonds were once worth $10’000, when we had only found 1 mine on earth, then we found out there’s a huge mine of them, they aren’t that rare, turns out there’s a shit ton of mines & they’re actually pretty common. @@sippinjuiceforlife3734 depend on the quality of the mine sites Stones. Rare champagne, cognac, and pink diamonds from the Argyle Diamond mine in Western Australia are all very rare, due to their unique colour. The De Beers family have a very large underground vault of quality diamonds, which they've used to control the diamond trade, by withholding them. Sine more sites have been found, I have to wonder just what their massive stash is worth and when they'll ever release them. Especially given the acceptance of the very well made 'created' diamonds and their quality. These are now being prized because they're not associated with the dreadful conditions of miners in underdeveloped countries

Opal is so hard to price because everyone is different. You can get two stones from the same rock and they can be two completely different stones at a different price per carat simply because the color and pattern on it. You can have multiple patterns to the same stone which alters the value. Opals are easier to cut the many other stones because they don’t have to be faceted but reading an opal and the procedure in which you cut takes a very trained eye especially with higher end flashier opal!

First of all opals in Australia are cheaper than opals in NY the same way kangaroo meat is cheaper in Australia than in NY 2nd you're probably thinking about the price Opal miners get for their opals which is much less than what jewelers price them at for retail sale. But in Australia the Opal market has an unlimited supply and something difficult to find with certain colours in NY which has a limited supply will cost you more because of how rare it is to find in Australia the supply is so much bigger that what's rare in NY is common in Australia

Australian Opals are more firey and vibrant and obviously more valuable. Black Fire Opals are the ones to obtain due to their mesmerizing color

He didnt lose on anything. He is a professional jeweler, and was getting low balled by those other jewelers thinking he was selling. At the end, he finally got a more accurate appraisal and found he got a fantastic deal.

I bought a 10000 dollar engagement ring at Zales. The engagement was called off, so I took the ring to 3 different pawn shops in Chicago. The highest offer I got was $350. Luckily, I had the receipt, so I just took it back.

That opal is crazing. The resell value is essentially $0. That’s the worst. I hate when that happens.
@cattfishing

Omgoodness. I was trying to see if anyone else noticed this? Obviously its impossible to tell for sure, but it looks like it was fine when he first got it, but he caused the cracking by being so rough and careless when cutting it out of the ring, dropping it. He had to have seen the cracking beforehand and i dont think he would have bought it, if it was. What a shame. Such a beautiful stone.

I love opal. I have a fire opal necklace with small opals. So it’s only a $250 necklace but when I ordered it they fucked up and sent me two. One looks a lot better than the other one so I emailed them and offered to send it back. They had a pretty generic email back that wasn’t the slightest bit grateful so I kept both. Still west both to this day

Opal is tricky and really does deserve MULTIPLE grading scales. Blue/green opal is great, but the true money in opal is in red/black opal. To get a mix of scores would help in accuracy.
