The reason that "Harold Saxon" was able to give the order to fire before he was Prime Minister was because before The Sound of Drums, he was Minister of Defence. We learn this when he told his wife that he was the one who designed the Valiant.

Catherine was at the height of her success in 2009; she was so big, it hadn't even _occured_ to Russell to ask her back. But over a lunch discussing future projects with the BBC, Julie said all Catherine would talk about was how much fun she had on The Runaway Bride! So they asked her back, and in a heartbeat, Britain's biggest female comedian said yes. I love this show.

Yes exactly the show is so much better as a buddy adventure show than an awkward flirting show and is the reason Dr Donna is the best duo IMHO, I had hope for Bill having the same relationship with the Dr but we only got glimpses.

Best line of the episode is when they’re on the rooftop and the doctor is like you’re not special, you’re not important. Then Donna says this friend of yours, did she ever punch you in face? Makes me crack up every time 😂😂😂

Watching this episode when it aired was pretty jarring since it had so many references to Rose, including just how dark the Doctor went when drowning the Racnoss children. My child brain didn't really understand that 6 months in real-time is capable of being equivalent to such a short space of in-show time. Of course on a binge-style re-watch, you realise that all of this happened _just hours_ after the Doctor lost Rose. No damn wonder it's still so raw for him.

I really like this episode, Katherine Tate is an icon and does Donna brilliantly. Her chemistry with Tennant is off the charts.

Although I'm a bit miffed that Harry skipped over the "Never mind all that. You're a doctor. People have been hurt" line of Donna's. It gives us a glimpse as to who she really is under all that bravado. The Doctor is sort of cruel here as well, and it brilliantly foreshadows their interaction with the racnoss, Donna being compassionate and the Doctor ruthless.

9:27 this stunt was intended to be the pinnacle in a series of transport-based gags; the joke being that this bride isn't running _from_ the wedding but _to_ it. Russell just didn't think the other gags fit the tone of the episode.

I owned one of the bronze remote control daleks when I was 7 and a remote control paradigm dalek when I was 11 - they were quite fun, but got stuck easily and were a bit clunky, plus their eyestalks broke rather easily.

That chase scene actually got done on the road too, they had the Tardis on a trailer and they had a rolling section of the road blocked of for the time. Even greater is that i used to drive that road every day so now i always end up thinking of one while experiencing the other

Trying to end this screwball comedy episode with genocide doesn't really fit together. Though one thing I do like is The Doctor and The Master unknowingly work together to take down the Racnoss, an ancient enemy of the Time Lords.

Great pacing, rushing from one interesting scene to the next with mighty mysteries uncovered, shocking reveals, great action sequences, character interactions and poignant moments all perfectly lightened by now iconic humorous moments, and the wonderful introduction of a soon-to-be, far more complex companion than previous fare (Rose was milk-toast, stone me:), and all of this in a single Christmas episode of all things! I was never a fan of this episode but after rewatching it with a more critical eye and seeing an almost perfect episode, Methinks Harry's sliding in his critique :) as this deserves at least a 9/10!

I don't think it was emphasized enough like how much of a weight off the audience's shoulders Donna was in this episode. The Doctoe was still clrealy reeling from Doomsday, and so was the audience probably. Donna comes in right away with this friendly aura of comedy and charisma

I agree about the final score, and for the most part I agree about pretty much everything you said, outside of the minor diss of the Racnoss, which is one creature I do hope returns someday in Doctor Who, but the pilot fish is just a weak (and I never thought about it, but as you pointed out) cheap thug crew. Donna was incredible in this episode, and the more you watch it, after you see her time as a companion, the stronger her performance was. I think it's funny (and true) that nobody likes her mom. I also like how you mentioned the difference between what Donna think their courtship was like, vs the reality which was quite humorous.

Still can't believe this is one of Lynn's. I know he did The Idiot's Lantern, but I usually love his work. Honestly consider The Runaway Bride to be one of the worst-looking episodes of the Revival. Doesn't help that they shot in summer, as with The Christmas Invasion.

Best Doctor: David Tennant Best Companion: Catherine Tate. It was amazing to see a relationship that is purely based on friendship. Their banter is brill and their Chemistry is top notch. Worst Doctor: Jodie Whittaker (she just needed to do more and say less) Worst Companion: Ryan Sinclair (who is he again?)/Amy Pond (she just got on my nerves and the River Song twist was stupid).

Right so funny story well to me anyways, It's Christmas 2006 I'm huge into Doctor Who at this point and I get two of those Daleks *A bronze and Dalek Sec* and I remembered the controllers and thought oh their pretty cool and stuff so later on that day I go to my granny's house for the family to gather and 6pm hits, Doctor Who is on I'm sitting in front of the TV on my own legs crossed watching the episode and that part with the remote comes up and I sit and think about it for a while and say "Isn't that not my remote?" and this was the hill I was dying in mind you I was convinced it was the same maybe modded but it was the same so I say to my mum and stuff and they say "No it's not the same" while laughing and 14 years I've never came across anyone who shared my confusion with the remote thinking it was the toy one until today So thank you for not only making my Christmas but also 2006 me's one too 😂
