What always astounds me is the attempt of Christians to tell Jews who have kept scriptures intact in their original context and meaning how to interpret scripture.

One of the problems with Christianity is that most Christian Sunday sermons are either solely about the New Testament or are Joel Osteen style sermons that have very little to do with either the New or Old Testament. Most of Joel Osteen type sermons resemble improved Tony Robbins motivational type lectures on how to be successful in life. Deuteronomy 4:2 basically says not to substitute Joel Osteen type material for the Old Testament as Joel Osteen type sermons support Christianity’s adulterous & idolatrous worship of idols, money & financial success. The reason the Old Testament is so important is that the Old Testament is more or less a history book of the human race. And if you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes you have made in the past. The main problem with the New Testament is that in terms of a history book, it only goes back to the time of JC. The New Testament just doesn’t cover a very long time period. The Old Testament goes back to creation of the universe and covers a much larger time frame. The big question is about whether or not Christians should be worried in the least. The answer is found in Isaiah 27:1 with the Leviathan representing Christianity. G - - always lives up to His promises. /

If he was married, the wife would have been among those who accompanied him to the cross, and at least, she would have been part of the group of women who went to the tomb three days after his death. I believe no wife is mentioned in the gospels' recount of these events

'Jesus' only had and was what the Greek scholars in Rome wrote. To extrapolate to a wife is pointless.

Paul most likely doesn't make the comparison with Christ in 1Corinthians7:7 because Paul _repeatedly_ writes that Christ is the Bridegroom of the Church, and that role is his exclusively.

Concerning Zecharia 6:13, most English translations say "and He" instead of "and there" will be a priest on his throne making it seem like they're the same person. The ESV is the only one I have that translates it to read Branch and priest as two different people. In the same way, a city is not HaShem simply because a prophet refers to it with Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu's name, neither is the Messiah, However, they both share a mission of exemplifying that HaShem is righteous. This is also our mission, to dedicate our lives to following HaShem's Torah and by example, proclaim the righteousness of HaShem.

When Yeshua was dying on the Cross, he uttered, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani," meaning, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” There have been varying interpretations as why Yeshua said this. Some have argued he said it because at that moment-on the Cross-he genuinely felt (or suddenly realized) that God had abandoned him-and therefore God must indeed have abandoned him...and therefore Yeshua must NOT have been the Messiah. This interpretation has been presented by some nonbelieving Jews, and also by some atheists. It's really hard to blame them for this interpretation, since this utterance by Yeshua-on it's face-certainly doesn't seem to support him being the Messiah. On it's face, it casts doubt on Yeshua being Messiah. Possibly for that reason, some in the early Christian church developed a rationalization (an apologia) for why Yeshua uttered those particular words: They argued that yes-God actually did abandon him at that moment--but He did so because at that very moment Christ took on all the sins of the world.; all sin in the world was suddenly absorbed by, and concentrated in, one man. And (so the argument goes), this was unbearable for God to look down upon-so God abandoned Yeshua at that moment; as if this momentary abandonment was a necessary part of God's plan. Christ uttered those words to awaken and convict them. Even as he was dying, he was still teaching.

Not sure how this will be received but as an observant Muslim I have noticed a pattern in many of the questions presented here that has raised my curiosity. In Islam I am very taken with the scriptural injunction to "be Holy as God your Father is Holy". So many of the questions, however, seem to address how a Messianic personage would straddle the line between the Holy and the Profane. The conclusion I draw, then, is that most querents are seeking a Messianic figure to model how they can they can profess Holiness while indulging in the profane. Alternately, there are also those who seem to believe that a Messianic figure would perform a kind of "spiritual magic" producing a worldwide peace in spite of our natures. Thoughts?
