Is the World Cup jinxed? At the very least, its trophies seem to be. Both men's and women's World Cup trophies have been stolen; sometimes recovered and sometimes not. There have been copies, too. Some look exceptional and others sort of resemble the original thing. Even the greatest of all footballers unknowingly lifted a replica into the sky at the Qatar World Cup. How did a fake World Cup trophy end up in Lionel Messi's hands? Kick off!'s Hecko Flores explains...

Here's some info to add to this story. Teams did hold onto the Original trophy through the 2006 World Cup, Italy was the last team to hold it until the next tournament. Why the change? Because they broke part of it. The players were throwing the trophy to each other on the team bus, when it hit the floor and a piece of the green stone broke off. It's noticeable in a few photos from that time. FIFA repaired the trophy, and in order to protect it only allow the winners to celebrate with it on the field. It is swapped out as they enter the dressing room. UEFA do the exact same thing with the European Championship when they updated the trophy in 2008, the real trophy is only used in celebration on the field.

Summary : In Wrestling, there is a term : "It's not the title that makes the man, the man makes the title." That terms is rightfully explained in this video. Messi might lift the replica trophy, but him and All Argentina team make it the "True" trophy. Trophy that won by many ordeal and final boss that also want to win badly. There is a similar approach for the UEFA Champions League (previously, it was known as the European Cup). If a club won at least 3 titles in a row or 5 titles overall, they were able to keep the trophy permanently (in some media, it was known as the Big Ears). As with the World Cup, the original European Cup was awarded permanently to Real Madrid after sixth win in 1966, thus all 6 original European Cups owned by Real Madrid were remained at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, between 1967 and 2005, a club may still own permanently this prestigious trophy if either winning 3 titles in a row and 5 titles overall were met, with Ajax, Bayern Munich, Milan, and Liverpool were the only 4 other clubs. In addition, the aforementioned 5 clubs (plus Barcelona) were also granted a permission to wear a "multiple winner badge". Unfortunately, Barcelona did not keep the trophies after the 5th win in 2015 due to the new rules by UEFA being made. Since 2009/10, the winners for each season now received a smaller replica versions and the original one remained under UEFA's control.

Just like the Stanley Cup. Players get presented with a different version of the Cup when the game is over. They then get a second, different Cup to party around with, and the real Cup is kept at the Hockey Hall of Fame, in Toronto, home to one of the league’s most storied franchises, and the 2nd oldest.

The wcup that he initially kissed n was handed to him by Infatinho before lifting it was the original one.Then later on during the celebrations with their families its when it was cheekily n smartly swapped with the replica.Di Mariah was the one who quickly recognized that change n even informed Messi from their photo where Di Mariah could be seen alerting Messi of the change.

Honestly I’d say Ronaldo is the best of the era, won Portugal’s only 2 trophies, got to the wc quarterfinals 2022, 5 ballon dor, most goals of all time, 5 ucl, most ucl goals and most ucl assists, dribbles second to messi and had some of the best skill moves before his knee injury. Scored some of the best freekicks of all time and debatably the best at freekicks oat. And at 38 was able to score the only 2 goals to win the final in al nassr winning their first title.
