Although Proximus was a tyrant, he was right about humans. Mae herself was equally the antagonist in the movie. She doesn’t share humanity traits such as Will and Malcolm. Mae would happily wipe out apes for humanity. So, in this view, I share sympathy for Proximus. I didn’t like Mae at all.

I felt like Mae is a villain the whole time and I dig it. Seems like set up for her to be the endgame villain in this trilogy.

She double crosses Noa and then he becomes neutral with King Proximius Ceaser. It could make the next chapter interesting.

she did horrible things but afterall she did what she had to do. you can clearly see the grief on his face when she kills the old man and when she destroys the dam. it was what it had to be done

I watched this film and i gotta say of all the antagonists from The Planet of the apes reboot, Proximus won me over, he has that tenacity that none of the other previous villains had I honestly thought the film would end with him still having Noa prisoner and tve next film would show them escaping I really do hope he isn't dead because there is so much more they can do with him

He may still be alive or he may have a child we don't know of & this child grows up to continue where his/her father left off. Proximus's kid finds another vault & plans & plots next time we see the apes they're more powerful than ever.

@@riley-dv8eu If they decide to have him still be alive I can see Proximus finding & using the weapons Mae thought she destroyed. He also plots revenge against Mae at the end he succeeds in killing her but Mae leaves something behind for Noa to find. Something that could help him & his clan when Mae sees that not all apes are like Proximus.
