VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
Hi everybody,
It's been two years since Russia invaded Ukraine. And when this war started, many economists in the world predicted that the Russian economy would completely collapse!! Russia was not just in war with Ukraine, it was also battling against the United states and Europion union. So russia was practically fighting an economic war with 2 of the most powerful economies in the world!!But you know what? somehow, inspite of 17,000 sanctions, Russia's economy has not collapsed even after 2 years!!
And this is so shocking that, today, the IMF itself has revised its GDP forecast of Russia, from 1.5% to 2.6%! And, many economists say that there has been no change in the living standards of people in Russia at all!!
In fact, now it is one of the fastest-growing economies among the G7 countries!!!
The question is how did Russia manage to keep its economy afloat even after two years of war?
Why is their secret strategy that is keeping them intact inspite of going against the most powerful countries in the world??
Last and most importantly, what are the lessons that India needs to learn from the extraordinary endurance of Russia?

Interesting analytics. As a Russian, let me make a couple of comments. 1. You named 1 million people who left Russia, but did not say where they went and how many returned. And statistics showed that they leave mainly to neighboring countries, they left only during the mobilization, more than half returned when the mobilization was over. It's hard to leave a country with the usual high standard of living from family and friends. Those Russians who have left are breaking away from culture and the country, and it is changing every day. 2. The working class in Russia cannot just leave everything and leave, firstly, many have loans and mortgages, secondly, most people work not at private but at state-owned enterprises with very good and stable salaries, as if hospitals, factories or the post office, they have nowhere and no need to run. They live the same way. Nothing has changed. Read it strictly with a Russian accent

Now compare how many left Ukraine when the war broke out, especially the men. went from 50 mil down to around 37 mil in the span of 10 years from 2014. It might even be worse, they say 20 million are "displaced" also known as left the country.
@iamaim2847
@iamaim2847 2 күн бұрын
@@josephthebig2889 It is worse. In 1991 Ukraine had 52M. Yea, after that soviet "genocide". In 2013 already 45M. And it is citizens, not people present in the country. Crimea+Donbass = 6M left too, one way or another So this war they started with ~38M. And ~10M refugees in the first year. Mostly women, elders and children. Men started to run mostly after Bakhmut meatgrinder. In my calculations, ~700k crossed the western borders illigaly. So Ukraine is already half of what it was in the end of Soviet era. For full decommunaziation, and return to the level of feudal age we need to achieve 15M of 1917. A year or two and we will be there.

There are 3 types of economies: Market economies, Command economies and mixed economies. The Russian economy is a mixed economy. As a matter of fact, no economy can be a 100% market economy. The US economy, for example, is also a mixed economy.

Today, I have identified the true logical fallacy that Ganeshprasad Sridharan is using to justify the wrongdoings of the Modi Government. He doesn't believe India is becoming authoritarian; his jibe is proof of that. Your logic is flawed, brother. First of all, you are waiting for India to stoop to the level of North Korea before calling it a true dictatorship. Then, according to your logic, China and Russia, which are far better than North Korea, are the best examples of democracy. I have a problem with how India compares itself economically. Instead of comparing with neighboring countries, such as Pakistan, in terms of GDP per capita, India should compare with countries that surpass us and strive to compete with them. And now, this new argument by Ganeshprasad Sridharan that we are not like North Korea, at least. Bro, it's okay if you want to support Modi, but don't try to halt the argument with such flawed logic. If you can't see farmers being arrested for growing millet, then at least you can see the arrest of Kejriwal, the vilification of farmers as deshdrohi and terrorists, the buying of media by oligarchs, and the government's use of quid pro quo in electoral bonds. If you can't see this, then you are watching the wrong news channel, bro.

There is some information which I would like to correct. 1. Industrial output grew not only in military industry, but in many other industries thanks to import replacement process, local businesses rushed to fill the gaps which occurred due to some foreign brands decision to leave Russia. 2. Labor shortage was a problem even before the war, but became bigger after the war started.

Yes, they are trying to keep prices down for social bread, vegetable oil, cereals... but we have been shopping for two years and are surprised at the prices and the fact that 1000 rubles is not enough for two large packages (food for a week) as before. Now with 1000 rubles it’s easy to buy a few inexpensive standard products, which is upsetting. However, there are products on the shelves and it is not fatal. I'm from Russia. The conclusions that makes the guy are completely wrong. The state economy (planned economy) is much more stable compared to a market economy. We in Russia remember how Stalin's USSR fought with Hitler. Germany smelted twice as much steel, but produced fewer tanks than the USSR. The USSR was forced to send about 20-30 million adult men to war, while the country did not experience problems with food, because the planned economy ensured an even distribution of resources. The main advantage of the USSR was that it did not need to spend billions on the luxury of the rich - expensive houses, cars, personal planes, yachts. There were no rich people in the USSR.

He clearly mentioned with a question mark (the same logic that Indian media uses before tarnishing people's life) that are we moving towards dictatorship. He never said has become one yet. If it continues, one day we won't be able to get back to normal like North Korea. So yeah, either we watch that happen or do something about the potential threat now. This is all what I believe the so-called German shepherd is trying to convey to its people. no matter what your breed is atleast Dogs are Loyal no matter where they go. I won't mind being called a loyal dog to my country. Before being a bully to just everyone as we Indians do (ex North East Indians, how Rahul Gandhi is also made fun of, I mean there is a lot of fun we get for just making fun of anybody in this country and there is no ethics in it too) let me also mention, I'm not a Congress supporter. I don't want to live in a country and wait until I become affected later. Russia was not growing much before 2022 due to outflow of capital from Russia to the West. The very thing that the sanctions shut off. West shot itself in the foot. Also, exports are just a fraction of Russia's economy. The assumption that Russia was "Nigeria with snow" dependent on exports was monumentally silly.

The economy would not have grown if not for sanctions that helped drive out competitors and cut off the cash flows of international traders. this triggered domestic demand from local producers. Military salaries provide an infusion of money into families and demand for goods. But now, when many Russian factories have been rebuilt, when the population does not trust foreign corporations that have abandoned their obligations and have not returned prepaid money... oh. When the war is over there will be a new interesting act.

You said 1 million Russian left their country in 2022 because of Ukraine-Russo war. But the interesting part is, in Germany alone more than 300K Russian ethic left Germany and went back to Russia (maybe they were afraid of anti-Russia sentiments). But what if it also happens across Western- and Eastern European countries and they goes back to Russia. the numbers would be more than 2 million.

This video didn't mention some nuances about Russia economy, at first, Russia actually started exporting much more amount of products to such countries as China and India, but the problem is that countries has non-convertible currency, and payments for products, that Russia exports, are mostly made in that currency, which make the majority of profits locked in particular economy. So because of this, Russia is forced to import something or invest in their economies rather that convert revenue into rubles and boost what important for Russia. At second, despite Russia don't have fully state-owned economy, it actively increasing their share in overall GDP, by deprivatisation of companies, that was in state possesion when USSR exists, but transfered to private ownership when Soviet collapsed. Recently there was a situation, when stocks of some metallugry company was forcebly transfered to Russia from private owners, who even bought this stocks from others non-state parties, because goverment stated that privatisation process, that took over that 30 years ago, was made against state's will (wtf). At third, author didn't mentioned about migrant workers, who will replace those, who was conscripted or moved to work in military sector. So because of this Russian companies are more interested in migrant workers, and trying to gather more cheap labor in order to not increase salaries, and Russian goverment actively increasing theis work migrant's quotas in order to satisfy the request. And at final, Russia have a special "national prosperity reserve", that goverment actively use for covering excessive spending on military. So even if exporter's revenue are rising in dollar equvalent, it doesn't mean that they can actually use all of the money they earn. But of course, despite of all I said, Russian main exporters, who are all mostly state-owned companies, still managing to export their products in exchange for convertible currency, which they sell and spend into exsessive producing of rockets and weapons and nothing left for real people's prosperity.

11:06 i'd push back on that because around 3 million Ukrainians, at the least have fled to Russia. So although they have mobilised and had people flee Russia, the amount of people who fled to Russia from Ukraine and still live in Donbas and the Annexed areas, actually gives Russia more people now, not less. And also most sources still count these people as "ukrainian population" even though they're actually in Russia or in Russian annexed areas, effectively working for Russia. For example the population of Donbas and Crimea, could be easily around 6-7 million.

And now, this new argument by Ganeshprasad Sridharan that we are not like North Korea, at least-bro, it's okay if you want to support Modi, but don't try to halt the argument with such flawed logic.

Short summary of the video In the KZfaq video "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker examines Russia's economic resilience despite two years of war with Ukraine and economic sanctions from the US and EU. Contrary to expectations, Russia's economy has grown, with a projected GDP growth of 2.6% this year. The speaker attributes this to Russia's market-run economy, which allows the market to control production, enabling Russia to adapt and grow in the face of international conflict. The speaker also highlights the differences between market-run and state-run economies, using the examples of India and North Korea, and discusses how Russia's military sector is experiencing a boom due to increased wages and oil and gas exports. Despite challenges such as inflation and a volatile currency, Russia's economy grew by 3.1% in 2023, while Ukraine's plunged. The speaker urges India to learn from Russia's experience and adopt market-run economies, avoid relying on war for economic growth, and focus on manufacturing to take advantage of export opportunities. 00:00:00 In this section of the KZfaq video titled "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker discusses how Russia's economy has not collapsed despite two years of war with Ukraine and economic sanctions from the United States and European Union. Contrary to predictions, Russia's economy has grown, with a projected GDP growth of 2.6% this year. The speaker attributes Russia's economic resilience to its market-run economy, which allows the market to control production instead of the government. This approach allows Russia to adapt to changing circumstances and continue growing even in the face of international conflict. The speaker also highlights the importance of understanding the nature of a country's economy and the role of market forces in shaping economic outcomes. 00:05:00 In this section of the KZfaq video titled "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker discusses the differences between a market-run economy like India and a state-run economy like North Korea. The speaker explains that in a state-run economy, businesses don't prosper due to inefficiency in resource management and a slow response to market trends. The speaker then shifts the focus to Russia, which was expected to collapse economically due to sanctions but instead turned out to be a market-driven economy. The Russian economy quickly found new suppliers to replace those lost due to sanctions, with China becoming a major import partner. Additionally, military spending has significantly contributed to Russia's economy, making up almost 6% of its GDP and creating over 3.5 million jobs. 00:10:00 In this section of the KZfaq video titled "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker discusses how Russia's military sector is experiencing a boom due to increased wages, leading to a labor shortage in other industries and causing wages to rise across the economy. The speaker also explains that Russia's economy is not collapsing due to the sanctions against it because of its reliance on oil and gas exports, which have seen increased profit margins due to the price spikes in the global market. The speaker uses the example of oil, which accounted for a significant portion of Russia's exports before the war, and notes that even though the quantity of oil sold may have decreased, the revenue and profit margins have remained the same or increased due to the higher prices. The speaker concludes by mentioning that Russia has replaced some of its lost trade with the EU with increased trade with countries like India and China. 00:15:00 In this section of the KZfaq video titled "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker discusses how Russia's economy has not collapsed despite EU countries spending $30 billion less on Russian oil in 2023. China has made up for this loss by increasing its oil purchases from Russia by 45%, and Russia has also been using a "shadow Fleet" to sell oil to European and Indian countries without abiding by sanctions. Russia has become China's biggest supplier of oil and India's second biggest, allowing Russia to make significant revenue. However, Russia's economy still faces challenges such as a volatile currency, the transfer of money out of the country, and the depreciation of the ruble with respect to the Yuan. Despite these issues, Russia's GDP grew by 3.1% in 2023, while Ukraine's plunged by 29% and 4.9%, leading some to question if Russia's economy is truly booming. 00:20:00 In this section of the KZfaq video titled "Did Russia win the war against US & EU? Economic Case Study," the speaker discusses the economic challenges Russia is currently facing due to inflation and the depreciation of the Russian Ruble against the Chinese Yuan. The highest inflation rate in Russia was 17.8% in April 2022, and as the ruble depreciates, inflation in the country increases, leading to an increase in interest rates. The speaker also notes that the Russian economy is currently being kept afloat by the war and mineral economy, but the aftermath of past wars has shown that a war boost in the economy is often followed by an economic crisis. The speaker urges India to learn from Russia's experience and adopt market-run economies, avoid relying on war for economic growth, and focus on manufacturing to take advantage of export opportunities.

I don't think the west really expected Russia's economy to collapse or crumble. I think they went light. They allowed plenty of extra time from when they announced sanctions- to when they were actually implemented so EU could buy plenty of Russian oil/gas before sanctions kicked in. Sanctions were soft because they didn't want to shock stock markets and collapse the world economy. Russia will slowly decline. That's why the ruble is down again and interest rate is 16%.

It is worth considering that production facilities are developing strongly in Russia and there is a large shortage of workers in the labor market. If the military industry starts to decline after the war, then workers will take up positions in the civilian sector. After the Second World War, there was nowhere to get a job in the USSR. Therefore, there was a sharp decline in the economy.

I think you are missing the fact that Russia produces a lot of stuff domestically, so similar to Japan, the exchange rate does not affect the local economy as much as you would imagine. If anything, a cheaper ruble is a boon for exports. If potatoes ever get more expensive, it is not because of the exchange rate, but due to simple market speculation by profiteers. One might say... free markets in action!

To @ThinkSchool for the cheap shot at 4:11 and followers / commenters who use the term German. Shepherd … Dhruv Ratew never said it’s dictatorship … he said on the spectrum it is moving towards dictatorship . Also DR in his interview with Karan Thapar said a central govt minister approached him which he rejected . Since Think school did Nitin Gadkari interview which I liked very much , in the interest of transparency please disclose if you received any money for the interview and also if the Government edited the video before it was put on KZfaq .
@Aman-up9ud
@Aman-up9ud 25 күн бұрын
Well why did he reject the proposal for an interview? Isn't democracy about asking the right questions and having meaningful debates? Why did he pass up on the opportunity to ask questions to the right person who can be held liable if they don't have answers when DR is front runner in supporting press freedom and bringing back press conferences? And this comment does not mean I support BJP (NOTA for life) 'cause I acknowledge the current status of Indian TV news channels being biased but you have to appreciate the good steps of the government. The coin has two faces...
@plazameranam
@plazameranam 25 күн бұрын
@@Aman-up9ud Thanks for the response. I think DR would have accepted the offer if the second condition on Government seeing and editing the final interview was not there. If they had agreed for a live interview that would have been a different matter. But BJP is good in headline and narrative management and they dont want to venture there. All their intervirews are scripted. Again I am not a Modi hater or anything....kudos to good things like Article 370 abbrogation or Balakot strike etc. But weaking institaions , misusing agencies , Governors going bersek , laws being guzzled though parliment , expanding scope of broadcasters to include youtubers....the writing is there ...Power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely....
@Aman-up9ud
@Aman-up9ud 25 күн бұрын
 @plazameranam Well doesn't that insinuates all the other youtubers who accepted the interviews agreed to not having a final say in what was going to be public via their channels? I agree with all of your criticism towards the government. But calling it "Dictatorship" would imply that India was never a democracy in the first place 'cause more severe misuse of power can be observed post independence. I will do you one better with a line from one of my favourite shows 'The Boys' : "With great power comes the absolute certainty that you'll turn into a right c--t!"😁
@plazameranam
@plazameranam 25 күн бұрын
@@Aman-up9ud I am not calling it dictarorship but on a scale of 1 to 10 ...i will give it 7. But i slightly disagree with your intreprretation of history....Yes there was more severe misuse of power (which i would have opposed if i was alive then and people did oppose) but its a mircale that Indian demcracy survived. Look at the history of countries that became independent Congo, Zimbabawae, Pakistan Bangaldesh etc there were so many coups and miltary rules ...Indian with its diversity managed elections and democrcay is a miracle in itself I would say. But we were able to do that becuase we had several leaders of high claire in both poltics (within and outside congress)and civil life. for instance Sam Manekshaw refused to invade before monsooon when Indira Gandhi insisted. Gandhi motivated people to withstand lathicharge and do fasting....look at the claiber of people we have now...people nowadays forget lathi charge cannot even post a comment becuase they are afraid of BJP troll army. Central ministers are subserveient and dont have an iota of an original idea (except Gadakari) ...modi dominates and eclsispes all ...the oposition is clueless running around like headless chicken....so my greasted fear is India may not be able to withstand another misuse of power....just becuase it survived and didnt become dictartorship in past does not give it perpetual immunty.... even a cat has JUST NINE lives....so lets not try our luck in this election and take cautious apporach...lets given him 300 seats but not 2/3 rd so that he can not change the consitution....(some semblance of check and balance) ....a few states so that Rajya sabha acts as speed breaker.....and then see.....but if we dont caution him now ...he will run amok...that i am sure...

Frozen INC accounts, broken regional parties multiple times to the point of making them irrelevant, and arrested Kejriwal. The only meaningful opposition parties left are in WB, Kerala, TN, and Andhra. Neither of those are going to expand nationally. WB will last only for another term, after that they'll arrest Mamata on some excuse before next election. As of now, they're not able to do that only because TMC has more powerful goons on the ground. TN/Kerala are largely irrelevant on the national stage (which is sad, but true) and they keep trying to malign Kerala's image anyway. Believe me or not this nation is United just because of "CONSTITUTION OF INDIA" any fatal injury to this book will result in catastrophic consequences.. if they tried to change the basic structure of constitution I don't think any one will be able to stabilize this diversity rich country..
