i really dont want mcr to come back with nostalgic/trying to have a hit using a formula type of stuff. foundations was great, gerard featuring on another song doing death metal screaming was great lol - i want to know what they want to make now and how they all evolved as artists * specially * now that they aren't under the same pressure they were under in the height of their popularity and activity and i think that's probably what they would prefer to do too. i hope there's an album for sure, but i dont care if its top 40 material or not personally (i'd prefer if its not and they really go heavy with it hahah)

Glad to hear someone else say there will be an album because I highly doubt they'd just drop a single and dip - my chem has Always been centered around concept albums that feel very narrative and cohesive. Foundations of Decay felt very quintessential my chem to me, and the lyrics were centered around the ending/restart of the band, so it was a good song to put out first in my opinion (even though it isn't a hit like TBP - and i don't think my chem was ever really about making hit songs. danger days was def v different and did not appeal to a lot of their audience).

Another thing to think about is that MCR did say that if they do ever come back that their music will sound different from the other projects they as a band have done.

I've given up on everything MCR5 since a year after those last leaks. Now, I am so hyped considering we just got a full song. MCR5 HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!

really don’t think MCR came back to appeal to the mainstream or casuals with nostalgia bait, they’ve already gotten mainstream success and have such a reputation in the industry that they can do whatever they want creatively now. Like look at their setlists from tour, there were a ton of deep cuts, they weren’t just out to appease the casuals with their greatest hits Foundations is an amazing song and was a bit of a new direction for them. I think most of us would love for them to continue in that heavier, darker direction than do Not Okay Pt 2

As a new fan, that just got into them September last year, that's defilinity the best time (apart from their peak in the 2000s) to be a MCR fan. So many new things happening, the expectancy of a new album (specially because they're playing again at the When We Were Young fest, AND because they're gonna play the *full* TBP album in the days they'll be performing), the leaks (I'm gonna admit I've heard some, but I didn't paid for them smh. I don't wanna pay for leaks).. dude, this is one hell of a rollercoaster in the best meaning possible

Im not sure if foundations of decay is metal or not but it sounds like its going towards metal. I also like the pop punk mcr songs too :) its a bit why i like three cheers for sweet revenge more than black parade.

Foundations of Decay is awesome. It gives me goosebumps. If people expected an old sound like BP they were a bit foolish. Bands and people evolve and I loved it but I wanted more.

i wasn't crazy about foundations of decay either as a fan of them but i hope they go the route they want to go now that they are older. i'm hoping for the album to release during the fall.

i might get crucified for this but if an old demo/song gets leaked im not bothered by it and will probably listen/download it. i could understand if it was a new album and it got leaked, that hurts the artist and their sales. but stuff like paper kingdoms, the unreleased stuff from danger days, etc., i dont really see the big deal

Foundation of Decay is a great song. It makes them sound like they've come back from the grave. It sounds ethereal and larger than life. It felt like a real event to me, personally.

It seems like you're more interested in talking about what they should have done during their comeback to apease fans and gain new ones. I dont think that MCR has ever tried to appeal to fans; people find them because they relate with the music. To me, it doesn't feel like they made a bad move with Foundations of Decay. That track is just a sound they want to create.

People who get too invested about this, relax. It really doesn't matter. Leaks are as much of a threat as you make them out to be -- they're a very small part of the big picture. At most: it's an annoyance, but it doesn't affect anything.

I highly doubt MCR is making a new album. Mainly because Gerard said he lost inspiration/interest for a new MCR album past Danger Days.

Maybe we get something new, but not soon. If leaking is taking place it's from record companies not MCR. Too get the "fanbase" age young to go bananas. We wait for a song, we don't demand or search for it,simple. Imo

Personally, I never understand fans who leak artists' music and stuff, as somebody who also crates in my most entire life it just hurts if you put yourself in that situation because it was your hard work, efforts, and all. More so even if you're a big artist, with a record company, the legal stuff is dangerous. It's not something to play with and fans need to remember their place and not cross boundaries. I personally, knowing them working on new music and confirmed it's coming, that is the world to me, it makes me happy and I'm waiting in excitement while going on and enjoying my life. I love the band, I will love the album regardless. Please respect these people guys.

I HATED chemical romance growing up. I was a crust punk, so that shit to me was weak. But as i got older, Ive gotten alot more into deftones and post hardcore. I get why emo kids didnt like foundations of decay. BBEcause the band has evolved. From what ive learned about them, they never considered themselves emo. So it makes sense the stuff they release now, follows the trend of emo and hardcore bands from the time they were main stream. They all became metal heads, thrash/ hardcore, or post hardcore. Case and point mahumodo and *Shels. IMO, MCR should make a post hardcore album. It would show their maturity and their depature from the emo aesthetic, and into something more mature and respectable. Foundations of decay is probably one of the best post hardcore songs ive ever heard. and i hope their next album, is nothing but shit like that. I like a few of their old songs. But the majority are corny focused on high school drama and shit. Those guys are too old to be creating stuff like that. Shit I would be too old to be making crust punk. Id rather be playing darkwave now or deathmetal. So i think its cool the fans didnt like foundations of decay, cause it means the band will release more mature sounding music, with larger themes, and a more epic direction. Foundations of decay is sick, its the song that got me to finally check the band out. And frankly, I think its sad when 30-40 year old grown ass adults cry because something isnt emo enough. Id be happy the band is making any music. ITs like the difference between old afi and new afi. Alot or people, including me, wish they wuld return to their sing the sorrow, and art of drowning days. Speed up themusic, get darker, and more absstract. But I also realize, those guys are no longer the same kids who made those albums. They have kids, probably grand kids now. Theres literally no reason to go back to that, when the market has changed, the distribution model has changed. Music no longer needs to be marketed for a specific audience. The music, markets itself, and the scene is whoever knows about it. In fact id say there is no more "scenes" Just clusters of audience members who are into what they are into, and theres no real boudaries anymore. I used to limit my musical tastes because of how i wanted to be percieved. But being older, you no longer have a peer group to answer to, to judge you. Had I listened to chemical in high school, I would of been exiled from my hardcore punk band. So yea, Im ready for the chemical post hardcore album. Anyone who doesnt like the song, I invite you to check out more post hardcore. Deftones basically created the sound. Deftones, *shels. These guys are two of my all time favorite post hardcore bands. even though deftones isnt post hardcore, the music inspired that style. So consider it PRoto post hardcore.

lowkey unpopular opinion but i think listening to unreleased songs is probably the most disrespectful thing you could do to an artist/band. idk why ppl especially on twitter or tik tok hype it up so much. you're not a real fan if you're dead ass paying for leaks and stuff like that
