THE REVIEW
I watch each episode with my own commentary, often pausing the scenes to get my words out without having to talk over the episode, and also to point out and analyze the show's art and animation. I have seen each episode already growing up, so these reviews are to compare and contrast the five categories listed below.
PLOT (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
The foundation of the episode. Uniqueness and overused tropes are taken into account, but it is also judged on how well it tells the story of the episode. An episode can score a 5 even with a basic/ cliche plotline as long as it has good pacing, worthy use of its tropes, and feels well-polished. An episode can lose points due to plotholes, uneven storytelling, and relying too heavily on cliches to do the work for it.
CHARACTERIZATION (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
How well the characters are written. Do they feel like themselves compared to the grand narrative of the franchise? Are the supporting or one-off characters interesting, or pure plot devices? Did the humor land? Did the actions and character motivations make sense?
VISUALS (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
Basically, everything that happens on-screen. Character Design. Animation. Backgrounds. Creative mechanics and solutions. If there is CGI or digital effects added, how well do they blend into the show, and were they used as an enhancement, or a crutch?
IMPORTANCE (Scaled from 1 to 5 Points)
This includes, but is not strictly based on, how important the episodes are to the current story arc (if there is one) or the general narrative of the Ben 10 Franchise. Points can also be awarded for how impactful the episode was, or how favored/ important it is to the general Ben 10 fanbase. I ask myself, "If I skipped this, would I be missing out on the 'Ben 10 Experience?' "
ENTERTAINMENT (Scaled from 1 to 5)
Pretty much the most important part of developing a tv show. You can be perfect in all four of the previous categories, but the episode can still be boring. On the flip side, the episode can be absolute garbage, but still an enjoyable watch. How likely would you be to put this episode on if you were in the mood to watch Ben 10?

Arguably I actually really like unis. She’s a interesting concept that I wish was shown up more. Maybe if she was introduced in alien force and used in the same way the Orion squad is, she could be a bit more iconic

I wouldn't mind Eunice being another being of her own. Maybe the Unitrix only got the female genome of Gwen and then randomisation occurred, something that explains her hair colour change. She would've been a decent love interest for Ben, if the network never did Julie dirty.

@@madladdie7069 since Ben is related to Gwen through their dads, if only Gwen's female genome was randomised then (theoretically) she would not be biologically related to Ben. Think of her as Gwen's half sister *not* on the Tennyson side. However, that's still pretty weird.

@@abbystafford7549 what do you even mean by female genome? just that it came from someone who's female? if Gwen's genome was randomised it would be different enough to effectively be unrelated. Genetically they aren't related. The weirdness comes from Ben considering her to be family by the time Omniverse rolls around.

*Deep Breaths* - I personally ignore the idea of Eunice's relation, for the same logic. - Could Eunice's power be In-Universe inspiration for Ultimate Ben? - I dig the idea of Eunice as Azmuth's new assistant - As a 'Benlie' fan, this episode was slightly hard to watch - Ben's speech about aliens being living beings is always a fav of mine - Does Azmuth have more Unitrixes in storage? - So it just dawned on me. I believe it was stated tht the Unitrix came to Earth cuz it was picking on the Ultimatrix. So, years later, would u think the nemetrix would be factored in?

I remember really liking the scene where Eunice expresses shock at eating animals and Gwen is like, “that’s good! You remember you’re a vegetarian.” Something about how this character had literally no backstory because she had only been alive for a day and already was developing values independent of the values of anyone she had interacted with felt really nice to see.

Or is more entertaining then entire arcs or plots ? 4-Does she adds something of value to the team ? 5-Is she an essential character that must be there ? 6-What kind of massive impact does she adds to the overall quality of the show ? 7-How does she like Ben more ? I always find it fascinating how organically the concept of a unitrix fits within the Ben 10 universe. It is a fresh surprise for the series to come up with this concept this late into the game.

It makes you wonder if they could use something like that to bring back any species they want. If the Unitrix can create a whole being like this, I wonder if they could artificially create new members of a species with it. And assuming they can procreate, the randomized DNA could be different enough to avoid the genetic deficiency issue that the Highbreed ran into.

Eunice's position as kinda like the Supergirl to Ben's Superman (backstory and visual inspired by her, similar familiar/semi-romantic bond as Silver Age Supergirl), gives her a lot of potential as a character in the larger franchise.

I feel like Eunice was a prototype for the ultimate Ben function in the Second Ultimatrix, would be cool to see the full functionality of that Ultimatrix like maybe it has all the features of the previous devices like maybe it can also repair genetic damage

highly doubt it, eunice was one of if not the first of azmuths attempts at anything like the omnitrix, so i doubt he was even thinking about the ultimatrix. that and the evolutionary function was added by albedo, and azmuth didnt even like the idea of it (map of infinity he said how it was just begging for trouble)

While I get why she got controversy, I wish we got more episodes with Eunice. She’s an interesting flip on Ben powers and having her really discover herself would be nice, could’ve been a nice status quo change from the ultimate Kevin arc.

You know, now that you mention it, having Kevin be the one whose DNA is sampled by the Unitrix to create Eunice would also explain her ability to absorb animal powers. That one always felt very random to me. Though, on second thought, maybe that’s meant to be a Unitrix thing, hence the green glow when she does it

I don't think Omniverse confirmed anything about Eunice. Because in that episode Zenith says they scanned Ben's mind, and if ben thinks Eunice is genetically related to him that would make her disappear with other as well, which is what exactly happens in the show.

@@yashjoshijee2294 i watched some of the reboot and post season 1 its better than the other reboots on average. I like the idea that once ben gets a new alien they replace another one and acknowledges it so they don't have to do the classic "four arms to stinkfly/grey matter" so that they make an apearance. The only important/really good and entartaining episodes are season finales and other multi-parters(beacause of the 10 minute format, 2 parters become 4-5 parters), even the season 1 finale. Bonus points for actually shading in every scene and not a select few

I always thought that since in the Omniverse episode they said they scanned Ben's mind and removed people he thought as family that it was because after the ending of this episode Ben saw Eunice as like adopted family and that what was once a crush turned into genuine care but in a different way

I do like how Eunice is voiced by Molly C. Quinn. She would voice Bloom in the Nickelodeon seasons of Winx Club and Supergirl in Superman: Unbound.

This episode is really great. The idea of untrix is amazing, it makes total sense for Azmuth to have prototypes and kinda comes full circle when its revealed the Omnitrix is still no finished. Eunice as a character was good too, her dynamic with the trio is organic, especially with Ben, and the villain was menacing because of the new toys Azmuth gave him (that surprised me in the first time I watched, I was like "how this random ass villain is putting up such a good fight?"). The only real problem with this was the main problem of the Ben 10 franchise: inconsistency with in itself.

Before Eunice was confirmed related, or as I like to refer to it, pulling a Skywalker. She looked different enough, that I figured it sampled Gwens human DNA and filled out the rest of the components from the database. Making her distinct enough to be her own person. If she came out looking exactly like Gwen, things would be problematic. As it is, they made it problematic with Ben trying to cheat on Julie and dissing her behind her back. As well as pulling a Skywalker on her.

Always thought this episode was more tedious than anything, probably cause it came after the hype of the kevin arc but Eunice’s powers also take away the appeal dna mimicry by not having her forms change at least a little when mimicking the other animals. The fact that azmuth hired a dude that tried to kill ben instead of Just sending a robot also makes me trust him exceedingly less. Even if you can get away from the incest ramifications it still means ben was an ass about his current standing relationship.

TBH I actually love Eunice as a character especially considering that she had a lot of potential to play as an innocent girl type of troupe whereby shes wondering who she is and what her purpose is in this world or what she is this could have been an awesome concept if they went with that direction.But alast we cant always have what we want.

I feel like the concept of Eunice could have had a much bigger impact on the fandom. I like the idea of randomising Gwen’s DNA, and I feel like people could definitely talk about how that could have influenced Eunice’s personality. What if it was Kevin’s DNA that created Eunice? Would she act differently? How would she act? Would she be herself? Would she be a she? What if the device wasn’t tracking the watch and some other random people found Eunice? Would she look and act different again? This could all tap into the science of DNA in the real world and even some thoughts about how genetic memories or personalities could work. (I’m not too educated on any science of DNA, just basic Biology and the nature vs nurture debate but honestly it could tap into those.). I definitely feel that the controversy around Eunice being related to Ben affecting the “romantic” scenes definitely had an impact on how she affected the cannon, taking the focus of what could have been a potentially deep philosophically challenging character to just “ew, incest”.

This is actually one of my favorite episodes. Eunice is interesting as a character and a concept. We learned a lot about her in a short amount of time, her powers and the way she implements them are unique and her personality isn't one-dimensional. I also feel that out of all of Ben's love interests, she has the most chemistry with him. It sucks that she was subjected to the pseudo-cest because I would have loved to see how their relationship developed. I really liked Eunice and wished they used her more.

You know, considering that Eunice is only genetically human, doesn't that make her ... well, whatever you would call an AI with a genetically human body? Could've been interesting to build a story around. My personal opinion is that, maybe, the Unitrix' AI and that of the Omnitrix/Ultimatrix are different, the latter being intentionally less advanced after Azmuth considered potential problems with the former (like going rogue and altering its own programming as a result of personal experiences, etc.). Secondly, as I already mentioned earlier, if this episode had centered on Ben running away from his trauma, they could've avoided the whole incest thing and just made her DNA source a random girl, maybe even turned the whole AI learning about being human up to 11. If they're ever going to do a reboot of the series, this is definitely an angle that could be explored given recent developments in AI technology.

I really wonder what the shows writers had against Julie? Eunice’s introduction would have been a lot less problematic without the romantic angle at all. She also was interesting enough to see more episodes and not just cameos. Ben 10 had a serious problem post AF with utilizing their non-main cast recurring allies or properly actualizing the potential of characters.

Now that we're getting into UA Season 3, I feel like a lot of these episodes could've worked much better in Seasons 1 and 2, to give the Aggregor and Kevin story arcs time to breath. "Mother of all Vreedles" could introduce the Vreedles as plummers before the Ultimate Kevin arc. "It's Not Easy Being Gwen" could explore Gwen's feelings about his boyfriend being a monster again. "Catch a Falling Star" could show how far gone Ben is and introduce some new aliens that he can use in his final fight against Kevin. Maybe I'm wrong but it definitely feels like this was the idea with some of these episodes, hence why Kevin is abcent from some S3 episodes like Catch a Falling Star for seemingly no reason.

I really like the ideas you presented here and upon thinking about some episodes that Kevin was missing from maybe you’re right and this could explain his absence.

I always saw it the same way Kuro mentioned here about randomized DNA (never saw the Omniverse episodes were it was confirmed to be familial now so thats sad) but I always just saw it as she was her own person who just had a similar structure to gwen's bodytype like a semi-doppelganger because of one negibligble strand of DNA. Like in the same way I have the same hair colour as Kuro, maybe me and Kuro share a strand of DNA that causes that, but we definitely aren't related. Aside from that, I wish they'd thrown in some line about Julie and Ben taking a break here, would of made this less sleazy from Ben's angle *and* given more indication to what ultimately becomes of their relationship in Omniverse. Only other thing I can say is its a shame Ben and Azmuth's arguement was so last minute for the episode, I wish we got more detail on that. The fact Azmuth and Ben are very different people overall yet both have vastly personal stakes in the Omnitrix and everything related to it as the creator and the bearer, the conflicts between them should be big deals that get more focus and development for sure.

Giving Gwen someone she can talk to who isn’t Ben or Kevin about alien or other things could have been interesting. It’s Not Easy Being Gwen is pretty much the only time we see her with another girl her age who isn’t anything to do with magic or aliens.

I was just thinking about how to improve the episode and I think you hit the mark. Ben and Eunice’s romance felt fanficy at best. Eunice is too nice and would never call Ben out when he’s being a jerk, something he needs in a partner, and the fact that he’s going after Eunice when he and Julie are technically still together makes him look awful. Setting up a new friendship with Gwen however, someone she can talk to who’s different from her usual friends is an interesting angle

The scene where Ben stands up to Azmuth was pretty tense ngl. I like Eunice and do wish that her powers and the moral conflict presented with her in the episode was explored more in future episodes. Though I think we could have done without making her another love interest for Ben. Even disregarding the... unfortunate implications, I never liked the idea of Ben open to cheating on Julie.

I really liked Eunice, and I do wish we saw more of her. I really don't think she's related to Ben - at least, not enough that it matters, and not to mention Azmuth never said the randomized DNA is entirely human-based. Human compatible, in the same way that some aliens and humans can produce human-looking offspring, but very different from your standard human. As a love interest, she's really great, and would have added an interesting dynamic, making Ben think about his relationship with Julie and giving a proper reason for their eventual break-up, even if they aren't a final couple. And, as you pointed out, I think the episode really would have benefitted from being a two-parter and exploring Eunice's concepts and origins more, as well as that struggle of not being alive in the traditional sense, but still having a conscious and sense of self. A good idea, but really not well executed in the long run. Even though the episode is fine, it just felt like they added a cool idea just to abandon it, and only bringing her back in UA for an episode where it really doesn't explore her any further (at least, in my recollection).

Eunice really is a great character with great powers, it's weird considering her relationship to Ben in this episode, but I like the character herself outside of that. I just wish we'd have gotten more of her. And, yeah, Kevin being related to her instead wouldn't have changed the story.

I was also going to suggest replacing Gwen with Kevin as Eunice's DNA source. Some fun could be had with her as a female clone of Kevin, the rest of the team (including Julie) finding her oddly charming, while Kevin himself acting instinctively protective of her for reasons he doesn't understand. Then when she's revealed as the unitrix with Kevin's DNA, Ben, Gwen and and Julie all look to Kevin in surprise. Kevin: holy crud, I have a baby sister!!

Eunice's genetical relation with Gwen and Ben is not really official. It was one of the several statements made by Derrick J. Wyatt that no one from Man of Action or the Ultimate Alien crew ever confirmed. The fact is, as Azmuth himself states, Eunice's DNA is a sample from Gwen randomized into a new DNA of its own. Gwen provided the general human genome foundation, which the Unitrix built upon a brand new DNA with random features. That's why she's blonde and her face has a different shape from Gwen's. She could have even been black or asian, shorter than Gwen or even male, by they've chosen the stereotypical sexy blondie just for romantic purposes

It became official when Eunice disappeared after Ben requested that everyone he's related to be removed from the game in Omniverse's "The Most Dangerous Game Show". So unfortunately, in that regard, she is related to Ben, which I think is a terrible idea.

@@TheRustBucket if you rewatch the scene, you would notice that the girls excluded from the contest are not just Ben's relatives. Those are Ma Vreedle, Xagliv and Helen (some others are erroneously shown to be "poofed" away, but than reappear in the competitions, like Myaxx and Drew Saturday). In fact Ben asks to exclude "my mother, cousins and a COUPLE OF GIRLS THAT--". Skurd then says "you've just used the Smart Bomb", which I think it implies Charles Zenith is able to determine not only if a girl is related to Ben, but also if he would ever come on to her. Maybe Eunice at the time was just a friend to him, like Helen. So, that's not really a confirmation of Eunice being related to any Tennyson

I know people tend to consider the first four series as one continuity/universe, but I feel like something that is canon to Omniverse should not be considered canon to UAF, as well as what is considered canon to UAF should not me considered canon to classic series. I mean, each depiction of Ben 10 has a different creative team of its own, different minds thinking of different things for different series. It doesn't seem fair to say, for example, that Eunice from UAF, written by UAF's team, is related to Ben because Omniverse's team, in the future, would decide to make her related to Ben, since UAF's Eunice wasn't written like that

Of course everyone can have their own headcanon, but if something is officially declared as part of the canon, we have no right to say "the thing said in that series is not official because it's not been said in the series I like more". Even all the bullshit surrounding Servantis and Devin Levin is canon (besides the fact there still is some room of uncertainty from which we can pull out an explaination that can fix all the inconsistencies)

DNA being randomised really would mean that Ben is not related to her, like in the alien examples. The confirmation that she IS related to Ben sounds just as off to me as the 'osmosians don't exist' thing. There are trillions of different possibilities of genes and an absurd amount of different interactions between genes. The Chance that Eunice is related to Ben AFTER the randomisation should be near zero.

It would've been akward anyways, but more realistic with characters in the Show pointing it out. Now people would find Ben weird for it rather than the Authors. Or, that' s how i would've reacted.

It’s interesting how the Unitrix was designed to only absorb one species, but still have Eunice take on the metabolism and abilities of animals, similar to an Osmosian, but without consequential results on said creature she interacts with and doesn’t mess with her mental health or have her be obsessed with power. Design-wise, the Unitrix basically looks like a soda can, but the minimalist design is suitable for an Omnitrix prototype. Plus, now that I think about it, the sexual tension between Ben and Eunice does come across as incestuous, which is rather unsettling and disgusting to say the least. That’s my mid-late teen hood ruined.

I feel like Eunice should've definitely replaced Rook in omniverse....... Like I remember in the Omniverse DVD commentary with the show runner he said he liked Rook because he offered an interesting dynamic with Ben,were Ben has all the experience Rook had all the training and my immediate thought was of how Eunice would've worked way better with that concept since her powers are similar enough to Ben that you can have a superman and supergirl type of relationship while still having differences between the two (like how she has access to more aliens) making her less of a carbon copy Eunice is definitely an interesting character that deserves more love Also am I the only one who thinks ultimate Ben was using the Unematrix or maybe he perfected the Unematrix.....

*absolutely not* I wouldn’t trade rook for anyone as ben’s omniverse partner. Dude’s a perfect mix of badass and wholesome, and gives us a look into another aliens lifestyle and habits long term. In the grand scheme of things his proto tool is more applicable in way more circumstances than Eunices animal powers are. I don’t think I strongly dislike Eunice, but I’m not all that compelled by her character either.

It would be better if things changes a little bit. Instead of getting this form by analysing Gwen's DNA, she could adapted the form by identifying the dominant species of that planet, or by making a perfect being according to the one who activated unitrix so they would enter a romantic relationship and the resident would be tricked into protecting the unitrix, making Azmuth's words have a bit more ground to stand on . Ben broke up with Julie due to the previous episodes, so Ben's arrogance could have consequences, and so does those episodes that depicted that Ben. It also make the romantic scene less awkward as Ben's not cheating, again.

Define what "dominant species" means. In terms of biomass, humans barely even register compared to invertebrates and especialy bacteria. Humans are better described as the planet's current apex predators.

I like Eunice and i thought she was an interesting idea they could of explored what makes her human since shes an Ai and the Eunice and Ben romance didn’t bother me because even if it’s a bit questionable since it was Gwen’s DNA but I think it was probably randomised she probably has DNA from other things in the device and also Ben and Julie broke up during this time so Ben isn’t cheating if they’re not together anymore and I would have liked to see more Eunice

Could be something like absorbing the abilities from far away without needing to touch and something like limitless shapeshifting based on whatever abilities she have stored. Example while fighting a tetramand (fourarms) in a foresty area she can use both four arms and poison from plants nearby, or any other abilities she can think of. This would be powerful because she can combine many skills, but would be balanced by the fact that she needs the DNA of nearby creatures to do it.

Saying Eunice randomized Gwen's DNA could easily mean it only took the HUMAN DNA and made it different. Dunno why they had to make her a cousin.

I love Eunice. I wish we got more of her. A sentient Omnitrix core is a cool concept. Especially given the prototype Omnitrix seemed to act independently at times in classic. I didn’t notice that Azmuth said “One of” meaning there are more shelved devices like the Omnitrix. I wonder how many and what made them different. The pseudo-inc3st argument is baseless. It RANDOMIZED Gwen’s DNA, that’s uncounted generations of DNA, largely human and so distant it doesn’t count.

Eunice being a tennyson is more of a writer's opinion then canon, specially weird when considering DJW's other remarks on things like Ben 10k and stuff. I would consider the stuff with the most dangerous gameshow as a genuine mistake considering it wouldn't be the kind of thing the writers would give much thought to and probably just asked derrick

The bit in this episode that gets me every time is when Ben goes to pet the rabbit, but then moves to hold Eunice's hand and leans into the almost-kiss. He's trying to be so smooth and it's hilarious.

I really like this episode but yeah it should have been a two parter, we should have gotten more Eunice in the show in general, and it should have been after an episode dealing with emotional fall out from the ultimate Kevin arc. (Seriously just one episode of the characters feeling awkward and having to work out their issues to get back to normalcy would have been really nice)

Kind of wish Unis appeared in more episodes even if she's nothing more than Azmuth's assistance similar to Myaxx and while Ultimate Alien did give us that. It feels like they set up a lot of story concept only to not go through with it at all.
