Buckle up, fellow adventurers, because I'm about to take you on a journey that's as thrilling as it is unforgettable. Picture this: a group of Jeep enthusiasts, armed with determination and a love for off-roading, embarking on a weekend escapade to Stony Lonesome OHV Park in Bremen, AL. Our goal? To conquer the trails, earn some coveted ‪@Jeep‬ Badge of Honors, and make memories that would last a lifetime. And let me tell you, what awaited us at Stony Lonesome was nothing short of epic.
Our adventure kicked off with a 250-mile journey to the off-road paradise of Stony Lonesome. Nestled amidst the rolling hills and rugged terrain of Alabama, this park is a haven for thrill-seekers and off-road enthusiasts alike. With our Jeeps loaded up and our spirits high, we hit the road, eager to tackle whatever challenges lay ahead.
As we arrived at Stony Lonesome, we were greeted by a sprawling landscape of rocky trails and breathtaking views. Our first order of business? Conquering the legendary 404 Trail. Unlike your typical hill climb trail, the 404 Trail offered a unique challenge, with its slick surfaces and daunting obstacles. But with determination and a bit of skill, we navigated our way through, feeling like we were driving a spiral staircase-a true test of our off-roading prowess.
Next up was the Switchback Trail, a trail that lives up to its name in every sense of the word. Located near the park's entrance, this trail greeted us with steep inclines and hairpin turns that tested not only our driving skills but also our mental fortitude. As we maneuvered our Jeeps through the switchbacks, high above Dorsey Creek, we were rewarded with breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment that only comes from conquering the untamed wilderness.
But perhaps the biggest challenge of all awaited us on the Gut Buster Trail. Rated a whopping 9 out of 10 in difficulty, this trail was not for the faint of heart. With its consistently wet rock surfaces, massive 5-foot rock ledges, and a daunting 48-degree incline, it had earned a reputation as one of the most challenging trails in the park. Only one Jeep from our crew dared to attempt it, and after a day of winching and perseverance, they emerged victorious-a testament to the sheer grit and determination of Jeep enthusiasts.
As the sun began to set on our epic adventure, we reflected on the challenges we had overcome, the trails we had conquered, and the memories we had made. From the heart-pounding thrills of the 404 Trail to the breathtaking views of the Switchback Trail and the sheer adrenaline of the Gut Buster Trail, our weekend at Stony Lonesome had been nothing short of extraordinary.
So here's to the wild ones, the adventurers, and the Jeep enthusiasts who dare to push the limits and explore the great unknown. Until next time, keep on wheelin', keep on adventurin', and never stop chasing that next great off-road adventure. As for us, we'll see you on the trails.
Safe travels, fellow Jeepers.

thank you Chris... hoping you can make it up north on one of our overlanding rides this year.... if not, we'll just have to make it a point to come south for the winter and ride with the FL Trail Stompers again.

@@RoadRashOffRoad thanks man, I appreciate those kind words as well. I’m constantly learning from other KZfaqrs as well and your intro for this video was 🔥. Definitely held my attention to keep on watching. I’ve yet to do Stoney Lonesome but it’s on my short list of places to visit.

It’s a fun park and pretty scenic. If you ever make it down this way, we’ll meet you over there. It’s only 2.5 hrs from us. Then you can pick up Beasley Knob while you are here. You’re in Michigan? We have several trips coming up in KY this year. Turkey Bay and DBBB. Any of those close to you?

@@RoadRashOffRoad yup! In Michigan and still need to get Beasley Knob as well. I’ve done Turkey Bay and it’s an awesome area. I actually had more fun exploring the land between the lakes area more than anything. A lot of old family cemeteries in that area. I have two videos on it. My next bigger trip will probably be Windrock. I’ve been there once years ago but cannot wait to go back!

@@TrailExpedition I will defiantly check out your videos on the Land Between The Lakes. I've seen some highlights on other video and it is absolutely stunning. I'll be hitting Turkey Bay just for the badges but will likely spend most of my time at the Lakes. I did Windrock last year.... Shot a similar video there as our recent Stony Lonesome video. Windrock is probably one of my favorite parks to go play on. it is vast and so much to do (and relatively close to me)

Nice video man! One point of clarification, you were on 502 up until about the 15 min mark. Switchback starts with the first steep climb up to the first actual Switchback.

thank you for the compliments and also for the clarification. I did not know. Because I was in a large group I was following, the chatter on the radio said Switchback so I just assumed we were starting...

Excellent video, an hour of off roading!!! I can’t imagine how much you had cut in editing. The music set the tones. As you were approaching 404, climbing Gut buster, playing around on little Moab at the end. Great editing, love the audio choices. Had to be countless hours of work syncing all that up. Great job. Then you came limping home with a failed power steering and 2 badges!

I already knew Gutbuster is pretty much impossible even for the most equipped rigs. Needs to be removed from the BOH program. But this video makes me even contemplate even going for the other 2 now. I'm only on 35s with a 2.5" lift and no lockers. Great video nonetheless but I may need to reevaluate lol

Thank you Sarge. Overall, Stoney Lonesome is a fun park with nice camping. There is ALOT to do there. Technically, 404 Trail is super easy and short… but the trial is we took to get there was quite difficult. There may be other trails to get to 404 but the one we took was a bit adventurous. Same with Switchback… the trail itself is not difficult but the trail to get to Switchback had some challenges. If you wanted the badges, your Jeep could probably do Switchback and 404. Just be a bit more intentional on choosing the trails that get you there

Did you camp there at Stony Lonesome? How is the tent camping area?
@RoadRashOffRoad
@RoadRashOffRoad 21 күн бұрын
We did camp there.There is alot of camping there, open and not congested. They even have "facilities" on the property. For an OHV park, the camping is very nice. If you are going with your wife, they also have small cabins you can rent if she doesn't like to tent camp.

33’s and no lockers ?

@RoadRashOffRoad 3 ай бұрын
My jeep, Road Rash is 35's, 4" lift, no lockers.... Lockers is defiantly in my near future. I just need some $$$ to do this. I would also like to re-gar at the same time since we will already be in the pumpkin. However I am not a huge "rock crawler". I enjoy going with my friend from time to time but I really enjoy overlanding, exploring and adventuring most (trying to avoid trouble, not find it). While lockers are a much needed add, its a little less pressing for an overlander.

@@RoadRashOffRoad Maybe just install limited slips in both axles. That way you are still able to daily drive it comfortably and have some needed traction when it is called for on the obstacles.
