You can do this. We are a couple with a truck camper and we have a house in a forest. We’ve cleared over 200 trees for the driveway and the house. We are just normal people who work in IT. Let us know if you want some advice. We have his and hers chainsaws and a 6’ burn barrel to handle the branches and cut up chunks. You can do this.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Food for thought. Pay a tree professional to walk the property if it's heavily forested and there's issues with the trees. I learned a lesson. In some states there are programs available to maybe help

Regret is all about looking behind you. You've made a great decision in buying your home and moving forward in your lives. Your thoughts on a 3 day tree removal is a sound one as you don't have to do everything at once. Prioritize as you as you go at a pace that you're comfortable with. Could you have the tree service take out the worst trees that could hit your home and perhaps only partially cut some of the tall trees and let you cut the bottom of them at a later date? You could do that at your own pace.

Protect the house for sure. Parked at my parent’s house one day a huge decayed branch fell and missed my car by inches ( I was visiting them in Michigan). Nothing is worth your safety. Here in Florida with a large oak, you’re looking at 5 to 7K for removal of one tree, especially between a house or close to the house the price goes up. You have years and lots of room in your favor. It will be beautiful.

I agreed with some of the other comments. The smaller trees and the ones down on the ground you should try to handle them, making the amount much smaller. I would have who ever you get to remove everything , the wood chips will have bugs and can go to the good trees . Last if you feel this is not something you want to do, always get at least 3 quotes. You will save money by doing this . 55 trees will be a lot of expense you will be very surprised at the number he’s about to charge you. Shop this …

Hi guys. I feel your pain. I had a beetle infestation where I live some 20-30 years ago. I bought the house 9 years ago. I had a tree company come to give me an estimate to remove 13 trees that were endangering my house. I ended up hiring him to remove 120 trees for $21000. Totally worth it. They took down only dead trees. And I got ~15 cord of wood out of it.

I would only remove the trees that could fall on the cabin. The rest is standing firewood. We have 15 acres of forest. The dead trees are fuel. Or sent to the sawmill. I rarely cut a live tree for firewood. I say this as one who has only viewed the video. You see it up close. For what it’s worth.

These types of neglect / deferred maintenance issues are going to plague buyers who buy Airbnb properties. Not only did many (most?) Airbnb purchasers not do their own due diligence when purchasing, they certainly didn't do any maintenance as they tried to maximize profit. As a former builder and real estate agent, I can tell you from personal experience that nearly every Airbnb I've stayed in has Major problems that a new owner is going to get stuck with.

Take a deep breath and relax, you're doing the right thing for your property. Paying for the 3 day downing of dangerous trees and leaving trees on the ground is smart. The chips and trees left behind on your land is invaluable. Free firewood and/or trail marking and the chips can be used for multiple applications FOR FREE. That stuff costs a lot of money plus you have to haul it to your property if you did go out and buy it. And YES I'm excited for the tree felling videos!

That's a big project, 16ft extension ladder, tie a 100ft heavy rope 10ft up only, hook the other end to that truck, put a slight tension on the rope. Notch the tree on the truck side only then pull it down. Those trees would be no problem but without experience you might want to pass on that. (Electric chainsaw)

30 or so years ago the place we lived had a bunch of pine trees. There were 2 huge pines right behind the house, took 3 people to reach around them. Pine beetles got in them. I could hear them chewing when I walked out the door. Big problem with them so close to the house and a power line close. They were close enough to the power lines that the power company came cut then for free, but no clean up. That was fun, not! We had all the pines cut. A guy cut them in return for the timber. I hate pines so didn't bother me at all, lol. If ya'll can get all the bad trees out I would think it would help the value of your place when you decide to sell it some day.
