Correction :Namibian Germans and Germans in Germany are the same, same language undiluted 100%. Whereas the Dutch descendants called Afrikaaners who live both in Namibia and SA speak a language called afrikaans which originate from Dutch but are more different although similar. Moreso, what u say about nothing produced is false. Much is imported from SA. Moreso, U dnt find people on streets in Namibia coz Street vending is not allowed in CBDs. That town Swakopmund is exclusively a tourist town and generally expensive except that grocery shops prices are generally abit close country wide. Swakopmund has about 70,000 people. Those shops makes money. Moreso, DRC settlement is called informal settlement coz it's not formalised yet. One thing u will realise in Namibia is that even if u go to the most populated areas, u rarely see alot of people on the street roaming around or selling coz business is more formalised in this country and people sell at municipal designated informal markets. That's where u will get to see people otherwise they just go to Shoprite, buy and go home. Namibians dnt roam streets.

Another correction. Its false that Namibia does not have a Quality Control institute. Namibia maintains high standards of quality just like South Africa. All namibian products complies with or are based on SABS(South african Bureau of Standards). Namibia has a standards bureau based in Windhoek and Walvis Bay called NAMIBIA STANDARDS INSTITUTE(NSI). Its for that reason that most namibians(black or white) strictly generally dnt buy food on the streets. Its formalised system with strict controls and standards that people are used to. One other thing that u mentioned about expensive cars is that people have afford to buy those cars. Infact Swakopmund is one of the richest towns in Africa. For example, Walvis bay town with a population of 120,000 has a municipal revenue budget of 1.5 billion rand which is equal to the budget of Kigali city of 100 million USD but Kigali has 1.2 million people. Moreso, look at Windhoek city : it has a revenue budget of about 5 billion rand with 450,000 people but 3 times richer than Kigali. Therefore the wealth index of Windhoek city is about 12 billion USD beyond Lusaka, Maputo, Abuja and many cities in africa. Walvis Bay is both tourism but more industrial. Fishing, fish processing and salt mining are the pillars of Walvis economy. Its the import/export hub of many landlocked countries like Zambia, Southern Congo, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Malawi. Mind u also that Namibia is largest fishing nation in SUBSAHARAN Africa after Morocco. So Walvis is rich in fish. Moreso, that region of Erongo where Walvis and Swakopmund are has alot of Uranium mines just 55km East of Swakopmund. Namibia is the largest uranium producer in africa and 2nd in world in 2021 to Kazakhstan. So the area near Coast is full of uranium deposits. 90% of mineworkers live in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. So the economy of the coastal towns of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund are mixed. They supported by tourism, Port, fishing and mining.

And those people HAVE been there DRC and the Government is taking no action about it despite you guys being rich. Another point was about the compensation of your coloniser which is now known as Genocide it's weird how people in power are treating it because am sure it's affecting normal citizens I'd like to know about it.

You cannot say "Namibia is a black nation". Some people that was born there are white and recognise themselves like Namibian. That's is the same problem black Americans are facing in USA. Once you say USA is a white country or Namibia is a black country, you reject all other minority and ignore the story that made that people being there.

People can afford cars because salaries for skilled professionals are high relative to other African countries. So chartered accountants, lawyers, engineers, doctors, teachers, nurses etc. Plus the guys that work in the mines earn good salaries.

Ooooh okay I get it now so educated people are the ones who flex in town, but in the 35% of unemployed youths you said some are the graduate.
@M_KK
@M_KK Жыл бұрын
@asadexperience The majority of people here buy cars on through banks and pay monthly installments. The interest charged range between 12-15%. Mind you, around 11000 new vehicles were sold in 2022, which is more than some African countries that have a higher population. A qualified government teacher or nurse earns a minimum of USD 1400 per month, but heads of departments in schools and senior nurses earn almost double this amount. For doctors in the public sector, they earn between USD 2200- 2600 , exclude overtime, and housing benefits and get a monthly motor vehicle allowance of around USD500 per month which is a decent amount for a monthly installment on a car. The people in the private sector earn more than those in government. People in the mines earn even more, some electricians make around USD 5000 per month. I think engineers and chartered accountants also earn within that range. The 35% youth unemployment is mostly people with no university qualifications. It's only in recent years that university graduates are struggling to get jobs, but with the current projects in the pipeline, I think a lot more graduates will be able to get work.

I hope so too But the hotel industry is owned by germans majorly. And maybe the difference from Kenya and Namibia is that those who drive loans cars in Kenya drive small cars and in Namibia you can find someone with a V8 and it's an installment vehicle so amazing 😂
@M_KK
@M_KK Жыл бұрын
@asadexperience haha Well, who owns what is another topic all together. Also from what I hear, the Germans in Swakopmund make it difficult for anyone that is not German whether black or white to set up a business there. Also, trying to penetrate an industry that was already established before independence by people who have generational wealth is not an easy task. You need to remember that Apartheid only ended in 1990. So black people had to start from scratch with nothing, no education, no university degrees, and no wealth. Unlike in the former British colonies where black people were educated, it was not the case with Apartheid. But we have made great strides. Fishing quotas and mining exploration licenses are mainly given to black people. What they do with those is another issue because they usually sell those licenses to foreign companies that have capital, but at least they become instant millionaires 😆. The Hilton Hotel complex in Windhoek is owned by a black family, though. Plus the Protea hotel chains
@asadexperience

Hahahahahah so educative and interesting That means a black Namibian is starting from the scratch Jeez 😪🙆🏾‍♂️. Then believe me you guys are not really free you can tell. The coastal regions of Namibia have a large white population because that's where most white Namibians reside, however the black population is rapidly growing due to economic opportunities available at the coast, it should be noted that the coastal regions are autonomous countries, but are governed by the Namibian government, which is manly black, the governor of the region is black, the mayor and councilors are all black, the majority of the population is black, the market had a large white population of exhibitors because it was a temporal market day in town where most of the whites reside, it should be noted that there are many black markets in the townships where the majority of blacks reside, i am sure you are away of the word the earliest bird catches the fattest worm, which is very much true in this scenario, if you could have done your research properly before you came into the country like Wode Maya did, you could have found out that the majority of the black population in Namibia live in the northern parts of the country where they are fresh water rivers and fertile soils, neighboring Angola, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, even the blacks that you saw at Walvis bay and Swakopmund are not fully permanent residents there but come from the north and mostly there due work and travel back to the north during December holidays where they left their families, the whites are in large numbers at the coast because they are somewhat the first inhabitants of the area before the blacks, you see when the first German colonizers first started settling in the areas around the coast there was no one there. So Namibia is not empty but its just least populated in the central, southern and coastal regions, but not in the North of the country, Namibia produces world class products like the fish you mentioned and beer (Windhoek lager)which adheres to worlds class standards, and the local bureau of standards in Namibia is the Namibia standards institute or NSI... Your video and Trip was with the intentions to come and tarnish the country,s image and positive attention it is currently receiving, therefore unlike Wode Maya,s trip that extensive, well researched and with a mindset to portray Africa,s story positively to world and doing so in an honest, transparent and factual manner, while yours in a negative manner do to constant colonization of the African mind by western media in East African and Kenya in particular.... In conclusion i would like to believe that you specifically focused your trip to the coast because the beautiful buildings built by mostly white settlers the that you normally see on social media, when i would like to invite you on your next trip to Namibia to come the north and see what really made in Namibia really looks like without white filters, come visit towns like Oshakati, Ondangwa,Ongwendiva, Rundu and Katima Mulilo by road all built by blacks and mostly after independence and come mingle with your local brothers and sisters and stop listening to western media when they tell African stories in their view.

Total bullcrap. I know the originators of the market he was at in Swakopmund, and just for your info, they are black. The municipality officials behind the market are black as well. The market is open to all, and the cost of the stands are the cheapest around town. It's unfortunate that the majority of people who took the time and opportunity to get up and go and put up a stand are white. The whole of Swakopmund is welcome at the market, and the team that developed the market are working hard at assisting members in the whole of Swakop to try and get gardens and food sustainability going. He made an observation, but did not get to the bottom of why the observation he made was as it is, and came up with his own conclusion of colonialism which is total BS!

I do not think you are doing Swakopmund or Namibia credit. Just hearing you talking about expiry dates. That is man made economy stuff. Here the poor are eating out of bins, expiry dates are based on economy. So if its dty stuff in years gone by long ago. It stuff is packaged and not infested. Why can it not be donatedto the poor in food dispersion stuch as soup kitchens. MTC is good but we are a 3rd world country and they do their best. You say things are expensive. Yes so it is. But world wide because of wars and the elite trying to depopulise the world especially Africa ... Namibia has a huge desert. Filled with minerals. Uraniam claimed now by the chineese. No we dont have an industrial country because of low rainfall and therefore its hard to maintain water spplies to what perhaps could grow and be industrialsed. Tourism is our biggest economical income. Your narrow minded bias veiw could kill the industry if people believe you. Your video started at a market. Its was called the growers market. .as The lady told you it was mwant for gardeners of all races to sell their produce. Yet tbis selfsustainable gardening has just staryed. People of all colours are trying to do their best and many are trying to motivate others. Wether in town or the townships. Gardening does not take a month weather contitions space ground and many factors make it difficult to get thing growing so abundantly that besides feeding family and friends not much remains for selling. Everybody is invited to put whatever on the market. However vendors perfer being in the township and so what meets the eye , are more white folk. This is a new market and in time will be what we all would love it to be. Swakop has a german background but germans are not in the majority at all. Please get your info and fact right. Swakopmunds ''making the desert green has grown from 12folk before covid to nearly 200 so in time , the growing fire will spread as long as people are willing and commited to growing their own food. Hopefully you will be more humble in thr future
