Only applicable to old androids. Newer ones have their bootloader locked so recovery mode can't be accessed unless the bootloader is unlocked.

Warning: Some phones may have frp lock when you try to do this when a broken phone. FRP is a google verification that blocks the ability to use a blocked phone that is recovered asking the google account that was in the phone. (So you cant steal some blocked phones haha)

For people who are wondering, it only works on Stock Android phones and it doesn't works on your Moto phone for Thick shield security but it was working on his Moto because he has unlocked the bootloader!

Failed to mention FRP. On android 5 and upwards, if you have added a Google account to your phone, you'll be required to confirm the address and the password of it. There are ways to bypass that too but if you're not willing to do the research on it and risk potentially bricking your phone take it to a repair specialist.

The worst scenario is that the recovery mode also needs a pin or password to proceed. Android worked around that feature in several ways, #1 starting at android 8 and up you have to go into dev options and unlock the boot loader. #2 androids running android 9 or higher have the previously mentioned feature but throw in an activation lock and if you dont know your email and password its a brick. #3 androids running 10 and up lock the boot loader even after you unlock it in the dev options. Its your phones password. Then the previously mentioned features will also be active. These features will activate because the phone was reset under suspicious circumstances. To bypass this feature to sell the phone, put in your password and whipe your phone using the "backup and restore" menu found in your settings. (Phones used for refrence was samsung galaxy j36v, lg rebel 2, lg rebel 3, lg v30, lg v40, lg v60, nord oneplus n10)
