Only applicable to old androids. Newer ones have their bootloader locked so recovery mode can't be accessed unless the bootloader is unlocked.

Warning: Some phones may have frp lock when you try to do this when a broken phone. FRP is a google verification that blocks the ability to use a blocked phone that is recovered asking the google account that was in the phone. (So you cant steal some blocked phones haha)

Here is a note for everyone before doing it This will not only factory reset your device, but in recent android versions if you try to do it and got in the setup screen, a popup will appear saying "the phone was reset in an illegal way" or something like that, and it will force you to login in your google account to make sure its you

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES ⚠️: Factory resetting your phone will also have a protection to prevent theft. The protection includes entering the passcodes, passwords, etc. It will also reset all of your phone data ⚠️

Android worked around that feature in several ways, #1 starting at android 8 and up you have to go into dev options and unlock the boot loader. #2 androids running android 9 or higher have the previously mentioned feature but throw in an activation lock and if you dont know your email and password its a brick. #3 androids running 10 and up lock the boot loader even after you unlock it in the dev options. Its your phones password. Then the previously mentioned features will also be active. These features will activate because the phone was reset under suspicious circumstances. To bypass this feature to sell the phone, put in your password and whipe your phone using the "backup and restore" menu found in your settings. (Phones used for refrence was samsung galaxy j36v, lg rebel 2, lg rebel 3, lg v30, lg v40, lg v60, nord oneplus n10)

Failed to mention FRP. On android 5 and upwards, if you have added a Google account to your phone, you'll be required to confirm the address and the password of it. There are ways to bypass that too but if you're not willing to do the research on it and risk potentially bricking your phone take it to a repair specialist.

The worst scenario is that the recovery mode also needs a pin or password to proceed. But if you manage to bypass it, you also need to enter a Google account password (if you don't forget the password 💀) I don't recommend it this way. Well I am no expert but I think after you do all of the steps it’s gonna tell you to put the email and password of the phone, it won’t let you make a new account or put a different account. So as long as the thieve doesn’t know the email and password u should be good

To save your phone from this: 1. Fingerprints. Don't use face recognition, that thing is broken af 2. Gmail password. Go to phone service and he will ask for g-mail password. 3. Serial number. Sometimes, they might also ask for your serial number if your phone is new or the case isn't thrown out yet. 4. Phone number and phone account. They will ask this if they feel suspicious and you need to tell them your phone number or apple/samsung/what brand account you have. Not gmail. Your account that you make after buying a phone.

For the people that dont work with phones, it deletes your data but it still asks you for the google account that eas in the phone before the reset. So if youre thinking of stealing that galaxy, just know that its worth basically nothing if you dint have that giogle account.

You forgot to mention about the FRP with Google. If there was a Gmail account signed into the android and you do this, another lock will appear to sign in to your Gmail and you cannot access the phone at all if you do not know those credentials.
