As the oldest functioning waterway of its kind in North America, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Rideau Canal is an important part of Canadian history. Stretching over 200 kilometres from the city of Kingston to Ottawa, over time, the canal has truly become a national treasure. Puneet Birgi explores the interesting history of this famous waterway.

It was more workers and the whole thing Is paved over bodies. Many native workers. I went on a tour and they told us that

The Irish dug it and many gave their lives in the process so why is it still called the Rideau Canal It should have an Irish name in these days of recognizing historic groups
