It’s amazing I remember I saw this in theaters when I was only 4. It was my mom, her friend, and me at 42nd street. I remember later that night we went home I was acting like David trying to bite my uncles. But Michael is my favorite character.

@@SeanTheDon-vj4kw I can see that as a perspective from the younger side of the authors. But I believe the perspective changes the further past the age of the storyteller you go. I The truth of these stories, seeing it that way is like the story behind the three blind men describing the elephant. Each one thinks what they are touching is something different. Every fresh child never conceives of death and see is existence of living forever. It is only later after birth we begin to understand. I think such stories of staying forever young and everlasting can only be told from a mortal point of view. If that makes any sense.

It is up there. It is really about Peter Pan and never growing up, though we all, eventually do. Some adjust well, others - not so much. It could also be an allegory about the dangers of private central banks (yes, they suck the life force out of the economy) or governments spending like drunk sailors, in a new port!

It would not work as a remake today. The underlying sexual tension and manipulation between David has towards Michael would not make sense to be left in the closet today. If you made david obviously straight it wouldn't work and if you made his interest in Michael obviously sexual it would not work. There is some weird stuff going on with david using star to attract a straight guy into his life that is either david liking to turn straight guys or some kind of cuckold play. I think there are a lot of fans of the movie that would hate if that was made more openly gay because they never looked at it that way and if you downplay or eliminate it a lot of the tension and intrigue goes away. Schumacher in the 80s knew exactly how to play around that line which today is completely different.

Admittedly, they all had bigger roles on their resumes but this film was shot well and deserves more airtime for a young audience to be exposed.

@@NostalgiaNeverDies the thing I loved the most, and strangely I’ve never looked up who the Director of Photography was, is the lighting of the film: the backlighting and the use of, what seems to be, natural light and shadow on the faces of the characters. I always felt it really brought out the youth and naïveté of the Penn brother’s characters. Even though they aspired to be like their father, they were both a little more pure of heart and connected to their maternal parent. It really reminded me of the way Coppola lit the boys in The Outsiders.

The 80s was such a unique time. We had technology, but it wasn't invasive. Women were beautiful, music was awesome, and the movies were epic. I could only imagine what it must have been like to party with the famous elite back then.

There is absolutely no reason why they cant do a proper direct sequel with a decent budget. They need a director with a distinct style, preferably someone with good taste in music and a strong visual style. Bring back Jason Patric, The Frog Brothers, ignore those shit low budget dtv sequels. If Halloween can do it, why not The Lost Boys?

This movie is a masterpiece. Kiefer killed it as always. Lol i must have watched this movie a thousand times growing up. First time i ever saw it i was really young lol like shouldnt even be watching it or understand it young but for some reason i loved it an would watch it every time i went over to my mamaws house. Brings back a lot of memories seeing this.
