It's frustrating that the DV and SA of an adult have such a short statute of limitations. At this time murder is the only violent offense that I can think of off the top of my head where the statute of limitations never runs out. I just looked up the statute of limitations in my state (Washington ) and found that murder and rape of a child are the only violent offenses where the statute of limitations never runs out. I am so glad that children can have their day in court. As a survivor of sexual abuse, I find it difficult to learn that the time is so short for adults to come forward. It can take time to be willing to discuss the abuse with anyone. It is hard to trust again. Especially law enforcement in my case. Edit: Diddy thinks it was a dark time for him.
