There is not a character that has been screwed over more by Nintendo than Timber He was supposed to be the lead in two different games only for Nintendo to say "Nah, put some other guy in there! Preferably one of our characters!" Then, when the Diddy Kong Racing DS Remake came out, they swapped out his Rare hat for a Nintendo DS hat. Then he never was seen again. Nintendo straight up denied him a chance for stardom and sucked him into their realm for one game and one game ONLY. At least Captain Falcon and Lucas are still in Smash

I like Coney's point at the end, and one thing I usually do when watching a video through somebody else is put the actual video on in the background (but muted, maybe at 2x speed) to really play it through.

2:14 dude I know I’m 5 months late to this but there is one other game I can think of that does this and it’s Them’s Fightin’ Herds. Every character has an instrument and they add it to the css when you over over them. It also comes in and changes the battle them when they do a cool combo and stuff.

14:45 I know I'm super late here but I don't care. Banjo-Kazooie is fun for people who like completing the game, and Banjo-Tooie is fun for people who like actually spending time playing the game. Tooie's controls are so much better than Kazooie's and it's not close, and every time I go back to Kazooie it feels so small and uninteresting. Also the comedy in Tooie is amazing

Also Coney's take on Banjo Tooie is AWFUL. I cannot agree that it is the worst Banjo game. I had so much fun playing that game, I loved all the new moves, bosses and Jamjars especially. I love it to bits, I can't hate it but I will admit the worlds were a bit big and backtracking can get bad.

While not as harsh, I have never felt more *VALIDATED* that Coney also thinks Banjo Tooie is worse. My biggest peeve with the game is the size of worlds, they're big yeah, but a ton of time there's just.....nothing. Like you're running across a land for like 15-25 seconds before engagement. The levels in the first game felt more compact and better for it. Also to make exploring fun they could've had Notes be all separate instead of clumping them in groups for some reason.

Playing the game as a youth, you're going to go for all the content. Playing it as an adult, it will be a chore I have fond memories of that game, but it has all the pitfalls of a collect-a-thon without much of the charm of eloquent game design

@@ramblincapuchin9075 It never felt like a chore to me. It felt like more content. I'll admit, people (myself included) have shorter attention spans these days. The only required backtracking is using the train to open Grunty's Industry (which is also avoidable using a Clockwork Kazooie egg). Everything else is basically a skippable side mission. Banjo Tooie is one of the most charming games ever. The levels are beautiful (unlike the creepy unnatural dollhouse vibe other games give off), the controls improve on the original, and all the characters are well designed and entertaining. It has all the fun of a collect-a-thon, but improves upon them even more. Banjo Tooie is a lot of things. Charmless is not one of them. I've come to realize there are two types of people: those who want a simple and linear collect-a-thon, and those who want something bigger, with more worldbuilding, complex challenges, and special abilities. Both have their place in gaming.

@@BBB-pe3ip Finally, someone else who realizes this! I have never understood why so many people say they want a big, grandiose collectathon and then say that stuff like Tooie is "too much". Games like Banjo-Kazooie are more fit for the general crowd that gets their fun from beating or completing a game, while Tooie is fun for those who actually enjoy playing the game itself. Both obviously have their place like you said and the former will always be more popular, but I can waste an entire afternoon pointlessly running around in Tooie simply because it's just that much fun to PLAY, not just BEAT. Tooie controls so much better with only a few changes being made, and it makes it that much more enjoyable to me. It's also one of those games that gets much quicker each time you play it. My first-ever playthrough clocked in at about 36 hours on the in-game timer while not being anywhere close to 100%, while in my most recent one I 100% completed the game in just over 16 hours. I also stopped replaying Banjo-Kazooie during my third playthrough because the game is so small and controls so stiffly that it feels like the only way to be satisfied is to 100% it every time (which I did do the first 2 times, but somehow couldn't find 4 notes in click-clock wood and gave up out of frustration).
