A song about the Teutonic Knights, sung by the Schlesische Jugend (Silesian Youth), Originaltitel: "Der Grenzlandwimpel", melody and lyrics by Willi Nufer, 1931.
The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem (official names: Latin: Ordo domus Sanctæ Mariæ Theutonicorum Hierosolymitanorum, German: Orden der Brüder vom Deutschen Haus der Heiligen Maria in Jerusalem), commonly the Teutonic Order (Deutscher Orden, Deutschherrenorden or Deutschritterorden), is a Catholic religious order founded as a military order c. 1192 in Acre, Kingdom of Jerusalem.
The Teutonic Order was formed to aid Christians on their pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to establish hospitals. Its members have commonly been known as the Teutonic Knights, having a small voluntary and mercenary military membership, serving as a crusading military order for protection of Christians in the Holy Land and the Baltics during the Middle Ages.
Purely religious since 1929, the Teutonic Order still confers limited honorary knighthoods. The Bailiwick of Utrecht of the Teutonic Order, a Protestant chivalric order, is descended from the same medieval military order and also continues to award knighthoods and perform charitable work.

Ein bisschen verwirrend der Satz mit dem Balkenkreuz. Nach meinem Wissensstand tauchte das "Balkenkreuz" erstmals in den letzten zwei Jahren des 1.Weltkrieges auf deutschen Flugzeugen auf. Wahrscheinlich, um eine Verwechslung mit österreichischen Flugzeugen auszuschließen. Und war natürlich später bei der Wehrmacht in Gebrauch. Der Orden St. Maria im Spital zu Jerusalem kannte noch kein Balkenkreuz.

Das Balkenkreuz wurde 1916 eingeführt, das Lied ist aus dem Jahr 1921. Wahrscheinlich hat der Dichter das schwarze Kreuz des Deutschen Ordens mit dem Balkenkreuz verwechselt.

@@MrCmon113 Das ist so nicht ganz richtig. Es gibt ja verschiedene Arten von Kreuzen zb. das Tatzenkreuz,das Georgskreuz und eben das Balkenkreuz. Kreuze die an ihren enden keine Formveränderung haben sind so gesehen alles Balkenkreuze,sprich wenn es zwei gerade "Balken" sind,die in Kreuzesform übereinander gelegt werden,ist es ein Balkenkreuz. Somit ist der Text korrekt. Ins Bewusstsein ist das Balkenkreuz mit dieser Bezeichnung erst zum 1. und 2 Weltkrieg gerutscht in Verbindung mit dem deutschen Militär. Viele Grüße.

Human history is vast and diverse. The second world war was a very relevant part of German history. And a most valuable lesson. But German history contains so much more, just as US history contains so much more than the killing of their natives as well.

it's so annoying that the movie industry pretty much only makes medieval movies and shows about France and England. When Germany has a very long history too and I think a movie or show about the 30 years of war for example would be very interesting. But no all they can show is the 3rd Reich but Germany is 1056 years old and has so much more interesting history. Ich liebe mein Land und bin Stolz auf unsere Vorfahren, ohne sie wären wir Heute nicht am leben.

Avitohol, let me guess, you mean Bulgaria? If not than Serbia is my guess. Both had really big empires dominating the Balkans, but Bulgaria more so, and Bulgaria is older, so my first guess is them. I doubt you mean the Byzantines as they are technically Roman before they are Greek (technically I stress), and if you meant them than the date would be older than what you stated. so Bulgaria is my guess, am I right?

@Hans von Zettour It's actually mean nothing really. It might be a term to sent mood along the song. Nowadays a singer would sing “Ou-la-la”, “Hey, Hey, Hey” or “la, la, la” I guesse it might be a mix of two words "Hey" and "Ja" (Hey/yes) to say hello and show interest in medieval style, i guesse? What comes to my mind right now is that (horse) riders and cavalryman uses words like “Heja!”, “Hüa!”, “Hü!” as a command to the horse to go on with galop/canter or just to command the horse to move on “Let's go!”.

@@dr.ludwig ich habe einige wichtige Dinge herausgefunden und die Wahrheit gesagt was eigentlich los ist.....in der schule hab ich auf einmal so schlechte mündliche Noten obwohl ich mich im Unterricht immer melde.....und ich hab weiter gemacht und habe Sachen erfunden die die Automobilindustrie zu Grunde gehen lassen könnten und die Pläne wurden einkassiert und vernichtet und wie gesagt auf einmal schlechte Noten und alles, nur weil ich nicht komplett blind und blöd bin wie die meisten da ich mich gegen die Gehirnwäsche der Schule wehre (PS.ich habe LEIDER eine Hochbegabung und eben große Möglichkeiten weshalb der Staat anfängt mich aus dem Weg zu räumen) und das wurde mir bestätigt ich darf nicht mit ins Schullandheim wegen "schlechter Einflüsse" und da sag noch einmal jemand das System ist nicht korrupt...

@BlackCat86 Früher wurde ein Kult von Stärke, Männlichkeit, Krieg und Patriotismus propagiert, und heute sind alle "entspannt". Ich erinnere mich an die Japaner. Seit Beginn der Bildung Japans bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs war es ein ziemlich kriegerisches Volk und jetzt schau, was japanische Männer mit ihren Mangas und Anime geworden sind :) Jetzt haben die Menschen hauptsächlich aufgehört, den Krieg als Mittel zur Lösung von Problemen zu betrachten und Pazifismus wird gefördert sowie die Lösung von Problemen durch Diplomatie.

Jahrhundert, in dem die Menschheit fortschrittlicher werden und den Weg der Globalisierung gehen muss, damit es keine Konflikte auf der Grundlage von Rasse, Religion, Geschlecht gibt Im Allgemeinen müssen die Menschen heute schon lernen, in Frieden und Harmonie zu leben.

@@banansepolno710 Unfortunetly, not only because of Austrian painter with moustache our relationships're bad. In general, Germans and Poles often had some conflict through all of history. But in my opinion that's normal due to the fact that we're neighbours so we had often other interests which're inconsistent. I hope that we're going to take a lesson from our history, right?
