I find it to be a nice touch that John is lefthanded in the game. Just like in the movie.

Think about Die Hard game where one player goes against 12 other players in a massive skyscraper, the 12 "terrorists" would have a job for everyone which need to be done in order to win the game but that one who plays McClane would have to use his wits to stop them and if he can kill them all he wins or if they take too long to do their objectives an AI controlled unkillable swat team enters the building and wipes them out. McClane should be able to use stealth tactics and set traps around whilst the "terrorists" would be noisy and a bit slower on their movements. I think the same sort of breakable environments like in R6:Siege would also work really well.

This was one of the greatest games of all time back in the day. The dialogue was out of this world for true die hard fans.

The DIe Hard Trilogy on PSX was the only time I rented the recoil action pistol from Blockbuster. Lots of fun in the airport level blasting windows and what not

i really want a realistic FPS where you are stuck in a not too big area (like in movies White House Down or Die Hard 1) You would need to kill some terrorists that are holding hostages in a few places, that the gun-play and damage is realistic, scarce ammo, sneaking, not too many kills ,brutal AI but realistic

My younger brother liked this game back in the day, he played this a lot.

So I've found out that there's some backstory to this thing - the team that would make this game started work on a Duke Nukem 3D TC that would be set as a Die Hard film in 1996. However, Fox ended up zapping the project due to copyright concerns around late 1996. It was presumed that the project was dead until around 1999, when the team reimagined the concept as a Half-Life mod. Again, Fox would strike the team with a DMCA - but in 2000 the team would go on to form Piranha Games, and would talk to Fox directly with their work. It worked, and they got to work on this thing. It's a shame it seems so average in hindsight.

You forgot to mention that Reginald VelJohnson reprised his role as Sergeant Al Powell for the game.

I played this back in the day, there was also a Die Hard Trilogy on PS1. Die Hard was a top down shooter, Die Harder was an on the rails lightgun shooter, I think Die Hard with a Vengeance was a driving game. I had more fun with the PS1 trilogy than this PC game, but I still remember playing it.

Fun fact, both this game and FEAR run on the LithTech engine, impressive how far this piece of engine got in the end.

We need a true perfect Die- Hard game. From the ground up. Perhaps an action- packed Max Payne style 3rd person action shooter with some MGS cqc hand to hand combat. Tell A new storyline within the Die-Hard universe.

I personally enjoyed this game and replayed it a few times. It's not the best game ever, but it's fun even if the weapon feeling could be more polished, but the game felt quite right to me aside of a few gripes here and there and the not that great fidelity with the movie. I think they did a quite right thing and it would have been hard to have a good balance between the movie and game aspect.

Just played and finished it. Game is pretty good tbh & much better than most of the 8/16 bit Die Hard games that came before it. A must play if you're a Die Hard fan.

They got McClane's left-handedness right but no HK slap? In T2, a left-handed SWAT operator played by a real left-handed SWAT operator performs a left-handed HK slap which is done with the right hand and crosswise, whereas a right-handed HK slap is done with the left hand downward. 3:25 McClane never uses the Steyr AUG A1 (aka StG.77) in the movie. They probably added that to make things more interesting. Only Karl uses it in the movie. As a side-ejecting bullpup, it can only be fired from one shoulder or the other depending on configuration. And it CAN be set up in left-handed configuration with a bolt conversion. The one in the movie is set up in right-handed configuration as per standard. The scope has backup iron sights on top for close-range fighting.

Honestly they should just do a single player campaign but have a lot of different paths and have different ways to end the story and for multiplayer just do 12 terrorists and we have John,but also have the swat team or play as argyle or Al on his side and just have different maps from the movies to do team death match or free for all just like the old James Bond games did because it will be hard and boring for the other players to play terrorists to fight 1 guy or do a co op story campaign

Working and almost finished gameplay fixes/improvements. Problems: Bullets range, 30% shotted bullets even have 0dmg, recoil, accuracy downed way too low enemies/player, health, dead bodies disappear, some parts infinite enemies spawning.. wooh, finnaly i'm gonna enjoy the game what it should be. Later gonna release it on moddb.

Would've been better if it was stealthy, with limited ammo and supplies, as well as fewer enemies that were tougher, and like mini bosses almost. Then 12 would kinda have worked lmao. 12 floors or something, with Gruber on the roof.

I bought this in GameStop for full price in 2003/4 for like 30 bucks, it did come with a gem though, a Demo to AVP online (alien vs predator)

The game probably would've been better if the gameplay was focused on being more tactical and facing slightly less bad guys, just to make the plot slightly more plausible.

Why is John left handed in this game? Do you really know how hard it would be to find all of those weapons for lefties? The Barretta would be okay as it can be fired by either dominant hand. They Styer Aug A2 (if you can use it in this game) is also useable by both as well. The AR-15 and MP5 not so much...you would have hot shell casings smacking you in the face constantly. Seriously, it is driving me nuts...;)
