Painting Diecast Cars - Chevy Blazer Build - Paint and Lift. Here at Diecast Resurrection we specialize in painting diecast model cars. In today's resurrection I took another el' cheapo casting and made a nice respectable Chevy out of it. It turned out really nice. I had some issues with the spray booth cam so I wont have any footage for todays video. Sorry about that.

You can soak the plastic bases in super clean and remove the old chrome then spray the new chrome on. It looks way better... Check it out!

I'll buy it. I been asking for a k5 one. Lol. Glad ya did one. If it's not for sale. Make me a white one with silver 2 tone. I'll buy it. I have a k5 blazer 4x4. Custom resto mod. I need that for my dash at car shows. Lol.

What I use is the actual tint for Windows in big cars...you go to these window tint places and they'll give you there scraps

I love Square body trucks but I grew up with them. They are definitely more popular now than they were a decade ago. That blazer looks awesome! I would have lowered it, but it's more popular to be lifted 😎

Sweet ride! 😎👍 Pretty sure most 80s kids had a few Kidco cars in their collections (usually including this Blazer 😅) They produced one interesting line called “Lock-Ups” that came with an actual key to lock & unlock the doors via a mechanism on the bottom of the car. Kind of a pointless gimmick, but i always appreciated companies putting some extra effort into adding some play value beyond “car with wheels” 😁

the idea seemed to have been that only you can play with it if you desire so. matchbox distributed them for a while after kidco folded up? but MB added a little hole where you could unlock it with a ball pen's point in case the key goes lost. I recently snatched a kidco mustang off ebay with a matching key... the key cost as much as the model. XD

For the body lines, I wonder if a guitar nut file would do the trick! You can get them super cheap on amazon and they come with an array of sizes, kind of like a swiss army knife. For reference, they're meant to create the grooves in a guitar nut for the different sized strings to sit into. Best 3 bucks you'll spend Jimmy! Love the vids btw!

One good way i found to tint the glass on my plastic model kits is with a paint from Tamiya is called smoke it works great on the clear plastic and you can shoot it through an airbrush

That Blazer is actually branded Kidco on the base and sometimes those toys have better casting than most famous ones, just compare a Hot Wheels of that time (70s - early 80s) with most of asian toys.

For tinting windows I use Testors enamel transparent black, if I mess up I soak it in Super Clean Degreaser, does not dissolve the plastic. Super cool paint work as usual

If you get a jeweler's saw, the important things to remember is the blade needs to have a little tension on it. And hold the saw in your hand not using a death grip. Just barely hold it. Let the saw weight cut. Don't force the blade to cut. You will break blades but the goal is not to break them constantly.

Just picked up a Maisto 79 K5 Blazer the other day. It looks like a real nice casting and has some the actual Chevrolet on the tailgate and a gold bow tie decal on the grill

Square Body Chevy’s are the best. I have 2 of them. A 1980 C30 dump truck and a 1989 C70 Kodiak fire truck.

Definitely looks better than the crusty thing you started with. One thing stands out to me though... I've owned two square body Blazers before, a 79 and a 90. When you got done with this one, the grille and headlights looked like they came off a similar year Bronco. They didn't look very Blazer like at the end... Just my opinion 😉. Love the paint as usual 😊

Well the Cheap Diecast Cars may not be perfect but atleast you get to try something new outside of the popular brands once in awhile to have some fun with and you did a good job with that cheap diecast Chevy Blazer, it almost looks like a well detailed casting.

i bought a bottle i think of tamiya smoke, which is a translucent black, and if you airbrush it on super light, you can get a good tint effect.
