In this Episode of VanLife…
I test the newly installed Chinese Diesel Heater in the Vanagon overnight in freezing temperatures. Also using the Solo Stove Yukon with my DIY Heat Deflector to stay warm outside. ….and while comfortable in the van I heat up some Hotdogs, peppers, onions and make some Macaroni. (Gotta start somewhere!)

Glad the install worked out nicely. These units are great. They sip fuel and do a great job keeping my bus toasty. Last year I went hunting in the PA mountains in late Nov. There was about 3" of snow on the ground, 20* outside and very windy. It kept the bus at 70* inside no problem on a medium setting. It was nice to have a place to thaw out after sitting in a tree stand for a few hours lol.

Yeah! It’s so nice. Definitely worth it. I need to change out the tank now though as I knocked it over today and snapped the fuel outlet right off. That was a mess. 🤦‍♂️

The diesel heaters are a great value for Vanagons. One thing to watch for using the diesel heater and foil backed window insulators is static electricity. I've been zapped several times getting too close to the windows with mine.

If you had to mount it again would you still keep the factory rear heater core installed? I just received mine and deciding where to mount it now.

I ended up removing it about a week after installing the diesel heater since it was leaking. But yea I still would. One less thing to break or leak and worry about. I’ve seen one video where a guy mounted the diesel heater inside the front dash. Super space saving for sure.
