As a fan of Diesel Engines, I was on a search to find a new daily that was fun, reliable, and economical. I happened to stumble across the BMW x5d, a gem in the Diesel World. It makes a ton of power, gets great fuel economy, and is one of the most reliable diesel's that BMW has ever made.
The motor used is the M57 also found in a 335d. So far, I've had a blast with this car and it has been a great daily. The BMW x5 35d is one of Diesel's best kept secrets.

@@cyclonus01 i do my own as well, just oil changes, brakes suspensions so far. Diesel related parts are what can fail

I love mine! When I stop to refuel I get looks from men thinking I’m crazy putting diesel in my car! Not many ppl know the X5 comes in diesel. Video idea: walk us through how to delete etc. I have no idea about all that but I know it’s the way to go. 😎

After having an E39 for 20 years, I’ve had a very well specced 35D E70 for just over 2 years now and I love it. It needs the deletes etc, but it’s not slow just as it is right now.

Not twin turbo, it is compound. One big one small... Owned one of these with the sport package for many years. Incredible car, great power, handling and massive brakes

Just read the comment below on cabin noise. The only thing I could suggest is putting Dynamat in the trunk (or what ever you call it) down by the mufflers and maybe anywhere else you can access.

Nice video brother. Im looking for an x5 for my. horse riding lifestyle ovet the weekends. This clip has convinced me to take the plunge. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Yes i can get Japanese truck which will be more reliable. But ibwantvto have fun and look cool.

@@greghawkins549 I would say it depends on what you're looking for. The 2014+ with out a doubt gets better MPG. Anywhere from 27-40mpg depending on ability and side of the world you're on and it's a luxury truck. 2013 and below are little luxury animals. They drive like sports cars and are all around fun as hell to drive. Our 2011 gets 21-24mpg putt'n around. The newer models are a comfort and ballsy, but nothing like the performance of the older models. Really up to you. We only have that one 2011 that got it all started. I'm looking for a 2014+ now so if that helps or adds to the confusion. GL!

I have a '14 535d base, I love it. Where can i go for bolt on performance, while keeping it street legal. If you could pass on what was done and what parts were used it would be great.

Thanks man! I went with Kassel for the exhaust, I had the buzzken on order and it was over 2 months out. Kassel had it in stock!

Great video. I'm glad that the M57 has been reliable for you. My 2011 335d was not and thus replaced by a 2016 X5d with the N57 motor. This was gem and very reliable. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos.

I got a 09 35d last year, and love it. Get about 24mpg mixed. Bone stock, muffler delete. Want to do a dpf removal and tube but stick w CA emissions. Do you have smog requirements in your state?

How's the driving cabin noise? I currently have mine fully diesel deleted and tuned but have left the stock mufflers on. I'm looking for more exterior sound but not at the cost for unbearable droning on road trips with the family

He never answered, but I tow 6,500 lbs. with an Stealth hitch and it works great. Just be sure to get an airbag equipped model.

It's a permanent gauge. It's not digital.

You rotate through the options with the button on the stalk.

It's not an X5d. It's an X5 35d. And these are definitely not a secret. Just enough Toyota fanboys are scared of BMW that they're not even aware of them.
