Explain about diesel engine sensors in automobile
Crank shaft position sensor :
when you start the engine at the point the CKP sensor inform the ECM that the engine has started to spin at the time it also provide information on how fast the engine rotating
Cam shaft position sensor:
Camshaft position sensor gives information about where the piston is in the engine based on this information is ECM determine at what time to spare the diesel for which piston
Engine coolant temperature sensor :
engine coolant temperature sensor calculate the temperature of the coolant water in the engine based on the this information the ECM causes the radiator fan rotates as the water temperature increases and stop the rotation of the fan when the temperature is decreases.
Mass air flow sensor:
mass air flow sensor calculate how much air going into the engine. but it is not here at our quality of our given volume to the engine, it is determined by three factors, first one air temperature, second one air humidity ,third one atmosphere pressure in air, the thickness and density of air are determined accordingly.
Intake air temperature sensor:
intake air temperature sensor calculate the temperature of air.
Humidity sensor:
humidity sensor calculate the humidity of air.
Barometric pressure sensor :
barometric pressure sensor calculate the atmosphere pressure in air.
Accelerator pedal position sensor:
accelerator pedal position sensor calculate the pressure exerted on the accelerator pedal the ECM increase or decrease engine speed depending on the processor exerted on the oscillator pedal.
Knock sensor :
knock sensor calculate the vibrations on the the engine, the ECM adjust the injector injection time, to reduce vibration.
Boost pressure sensor :
boost pressure sensor it is used to calculate the process of compression air coming from the Turbo ,the air pressure is adjust by the ECM adjusting the speed of the Turbo ,based on the information coming from boost pressure sensor.
Rail pressure sensor :
the common rail pressure sensor is located on the common rail, it function is monitoring the fuel pressure in the common rail, the fuel rail pressure sensor feedback to the ECM which regulate the right pressure by controlling the high pressure pump solenoid valve(IMV).
Fuel Temperature sensor :
fuel temperature sensor location in the pump return line or return tube fuel temperature sensor meeaures the fuel temperature in the low pressure system , the fuel temperature sensor determine the amount of the fuel lead to the injector and sent the information to ECM.
oxygen sensor :
It is typically located exhaust pipe near the catalytic converter,An oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases, sending the signal to the engine computer.
differential pressure sensor :
The differential pressure sensor is a method of measurement based on two different reference pressures.
Exhaust gas temperature sensor :
As its name suggests, the exhaust gas temperature sensor measures the temperature of the exhaust gas. ... In diesel engines, exhaust gas temperature sensors are also used to monitor the temperature of the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to establish the correct temperature for regeneration, reducing harmful emissions.
Particulate Matter (PM) Sensors:
The Particulate Matter (PM) sensor is an exhaust sensor which measures cumulative particulate mass used for on-board diagnostics (OBD) and helps detect leakage in the diesel particulate filter (DPF).
Coolant level sensor :
coolant level sensor measure the level of the coolant.
Oil pressure sensor: measure the pressure of the engine oil .
oil temperature sensor: oil temperature sensor measure the temperature of engine oil .
oil level sensor oil
level sensor measure the level of engine oil.
water sediment sensor:
water sediment sensor is calculate the level of the water in diesel filter.
