Firing up the New Holland LS180 in 20 degree weather after a 10" snowfall. This is the second cycling of the glow plugs. No block heater, no starter fluid. I last fired it up two weeks ago. Property located at 8500 ft altitude.

A battery manufacturer needs to sponsor this video. It’s a little while ago but a timeless epic cold start.

Hi thank you for this clip ! good battery, good startermotor Your old lady doesn't want to work ! by this weather she is very human, she would prefer to sleep in a warm bed ….. the cranking sound is as she would cry and complain against you Greeting

How many winters do you get out of a starter?

This was the one and only time I've cranked it like that. Did it for the internet points. I installed a block heater and it starts up immediately now.

Hater comments bring more video traffic then praisers ever dreamed of. The video states cold start and that’s exactly what it is well done 👍

How much do the tire chains help? I imagine a huge difference.
@Cresso56 жыл бұрын
You're right, it made an enormous difference. The tires on my skid steer are pretty mild. More of a pavement pattern. On the first snow of the season, before I had chains, I got the skid steer stuck on a very very mild slope. Now, with chains, I can plow uphill on my driveway, which is quite steep. I would guess somewhere around 10% grade. I got the chains from etrailer.com. I also got rubber tensioners from the same site, but they're garbage and broke almost immediately. Get the metal spring tensioners instead.

One should always have block heater and battery warmers on diesel equipment. That along with synthetic oils. A small Kw generator put it in the cab in the morning as you go out to work then warm the block heater for a few hours. I have watched those who use starter fluid with glow plugs, bad combination!

Did you roast the starter?
@plumkey197 Жыл бұрын
The diesel starter is built more robustly and heavy duty for prolonged cranking. As long as the starter isn't made in C***a, it will hold up just fine. Can't say the same for the batteries.
