It is so cool how it takes sudden load increase. Just fuel up heavily without any anti-smoke s*it and get more boost! Love it!

Worked in a shipyard once and installed 5- 5000kw cat generators that powered 2 brand new old stock 1956 2000hp electric Submarine motors! Was built for National Science Foundation to study ocean acoustics (whatever that means) The vessel had two rooms about 100'x50' that held rack upon rack upon rack of amplifiers! At a certain point of completion all shipyard employees were removed from the vessel and Hughes Aircraft and Navy personnel took over and armed guards stationed on the gangways! Have no idea what the were listening for but one of the engineers said that from the Gulf of Mexico they could hear a small whale fart in Australia!!

Where I work me and another guy just finished rebuilding a 3412 and have another to start soon and in a few years or so unless it fails we have a 3516 that runs an aggregate plant and it’s huge

Some resistors arranged in combination of series/parallel. They convert electricity to heat. Imagine having 2kW heater

Al cat 3516 le tendrían q instalar una bomba prelubricado de aceite para mejor arranque,ya demás colocar banco de evaluación para medir presión de cada turbo y medir la presión en el enfriador de aire,además colocarle filtrar de combustible y el scanner y tomar lectura hacer informe funcionamiento motor ,quedando grabado .

what is the function of the battery if the genset already start / running? is it use for control system power?

The battery most likely isn't being used. Everything is most likely running off the alternator. The engine is most likely keeping the battery charged up to ensure it can start next time

hmmmm impressively engine response vs emission result. CAT 3500 series is most reliable in industrial power generation application beside Cummins.

@@MichaelJohnson-jt5cu I was thinking of buying one used 2000kw diesel generator to supply about 3000 homes in my country, but after reading your your comments about the fuel consumption I fell a little bit discouraged I did the calculation and it will cost about 3400 gallons of diesel a day. Can you tell me a little more about it, is my calculation accurate?

If it burns 90 to 100 gallons a hr that would be 2160 to 2400 gallons a day times how ever much off road diesel is

It's a little bit similar to how clutch works, there's a special kind of a flywheel and clutch installed between the engine and the genset. 😊

@@arunm7175 That's quite a lot of force for a clutch to deal with. Kinda feel bad for that thing.

@@davidpopowicz7689 it is indeed, but like I said it's similar in principle but a completely different way of functionality, the AC alternator will react to the application of load by the voltage dipping at the terminals simultaneously.
