There are many quick demos of our Herbert amp, but we wanted to show you how we actualy hear it. And also give you some background on the origins and the design concept. We hope you enjoy it as much as we had fun making it.

Watching this video, this amp sounds good no matter where they turn the knobs.... this is really the gold standard right here. My dream amp. Great name, great sound... great amp.

My Dream rig is to run a Diezel Herbert and a Dumble SSS style amp(Such as a Two Rock Silver Sterling Signature) together. The Herbert is a high-gain monster, yes, but it's also so incredibly versatile and useful. It sounds huge and gorgeous throughout the entire tone sweep. It's one of the greatest amps to ever exist, period.

Aloha Peter! I miss those old Tone Merchants parties and seeing you during NAMM- I remember when you had the prototype for the Herbert, and when cranked with 6550s(?) it felt like Godzilla entered the room! That thing was a cannon, and the refinements you made after that really made this amp special. If you ever make it to Oahu I'll by you lunch! Pat

Herbert MK2... ein absolutes Monster! Es geht wirklich alles mit ihm, jede Stilrichtung klingt unglaublich überzeugend. Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, der Amp weiß schon vor mir, wie das Gespielte eigentlich klingen soll. Er setzt wirklich jede Nuance um, Killer. Also wer sich mit einem Herbert im Bandmix nicht hört, hat das Thema EQ einfach nicht verstanden. Erstmal alles auf 12:00, Deep höchstens auf 10:30 - 11:00 und dann tastet euch ran. Mitten drinne lassen. Achso, Master natürlich nicht auf 12:00.. da könnte das Dach wegfliegen! ;-)

Recently I've bought the UAD version of this mighty amp, but as I hear it, it really doesn't have the bite, the richness, the smoothness, the LIFE of the real deal here! I need this amp desperately!

There wasn't 'a debate' in my mind in the first place. Folks who don't think it makes a difference are like flat-earthers. Not worth arguing with. Sure there's bigger things change the sound, but you need your ears cleaned if you can't tell.

A friendly update, I have a HERBERT mk2, I never heard a better box in my life,next choice VH2 and I,m so happy to see other brothers lovin their VH2 sayin it,s the BEST box they ever heard ,, IT's DIEZEL it,s the BEST RayZor ... PEACE

There are many great amps for metal. I have a Mesa Mark V and it is awesome, Peavey 5150s, Fryette Pitbull, Boosted JCM800...The Herbert is truly the apex of heaviness. They are expensive, but beyond worth it.

I have a Herbert 46 yrs later Most dialed IN Articulated Ultra warm Powerful/Options/Midi/Seriously a blanket of T O N E that every other box don't quite have, I love this box like it,s my child Crazy Thanxxx DIEZEL next is VH2 CHEERS

After years of messing about never being happy with my sound I got one of these. I've now had it about 10 years and never wanted to change it. Recently I got a Bogner that sounds beautiful too in a slightly different way, but it's still the Herbert that gets played the most. :)

In the video you say the amp is being played at 3 watts. Is this an approximation based on how the volume is set, or is there a switch to adjust power output? I'm interested in loading this down with the Suhr Reactive Load (100W max) but don't want to blow anything up!

Yes, it an approximation on the very low setting of the master volume. But you don't need to load it down with a load-box of any kind, just use the master volume. For reference, see our new video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9mTe6p5qbmRp6M.html

@diezelamps Peter, it would be really cool if you pulled the power section from the Herbert & made a stereo power amp... you ever think about making a 2 channel KT88 200 watt power amp? I know quite a few guitarists that would like this, who are building modeling rigs (with the advancement in daw/plugin software).

The Herbert is my absolute Dream Amp, but i‘m an „Livingroom Player“. I would play mainly about an Two Notes Captor X and i‘am a little bit scared, because the 100w of the Two Notes and the 200w Peak Herbert. Does anyone have any experience with that Setup?? Kind regards from Ruhrgebiet Area, DE 🍻

Geiler Amp! Und dann noch 180Watt. Hatte mir den Herbert mal phasenweise zum testen ausgeliehen, hätte ihn auch fast gekauft. Allerdings hätten die 180 Watt meine Talkbox geschrottet, da wusste ich noch nicht, dass man ihn runterdrosseln kann. Und bin damals doch beim DSL 100 gelandet. Aber soundlich reinster Genuss. Allerdings den Midcut finde ich unnötig, Denn Mitten sind für die Gitarre wichtig.

Der +/- Switch im zweiten Kanal wäre als MIDI-Schaltbare Option genial! Das würde den Herbert auf ein neues Flexibilitäts-Level heben! Ist es vielleicht möglich, das zu modifizieren, damit man auch hier alle 4 Zerrstufen schalten kann? Zur Not, indem man den Schalter mit ner Buchse ersetzt und extern einen MIDI-gesteuerten Relais-Switch anschließt?

This was good and all but it doesn’t showcase the real purpose this amp was made for... low tuned guitars/7-strings for metal (even though it does much more) the most “metal” thing he did was open chug and then power chord on 1. Idk I personally didn’t think he showcased it towards the people who would be looking for this amp in the most direct way. Good thing Ola can do that
