Diferencia entre FINISH, END y OVER en inglés

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre "finish", "end" y "over" en inglés? En inglés, tanto el verbo "finish" como el verbo "end" significan "terminar", pero no se usan en las mismas situaciones. El verbo "finish" se usa cuando alguien termina algo o termina de hacer algo. El verbo "end" se usa cuando alguien le pone fin a algo o cuando algo llega a su fin. La palabra "over" no significa "terminar", pero la frase "to be over" sí. Se usa también para decir que algo llega a su fin.

En las películas que solía ver en el cine, al final de la proyección, le ponían The End. Y en los videojuegos leía Game Over. En ambos casos uno entendía que se terminó lo que estábamos viendo o jugando.

Profesor güero tengo una pregunta, La pronunciacion de la R en ingles en la que no se toca el paladar y para todos los acentos inclusive el americano, mi hermano que esta aprendiendo ingles me dijo que eso solo era en el britanico, pero su respuesta es la definitiva

La pronunciación de de "r" es igual en todos los acentos en inglés. En algunos acentos, no se pronuncia en ciertas situaciones. Pero cuano se pronuncia, es igual.

"Terminar en" cuando empiezas a hacer algo y terminas haciendo otra cosa. "He was studying but he was so tired that he ended up sleeping". = Él estaba estudiando pero estaba tan cansado que "terminó" durmiéndose.

Porque ese by es como decir alrededor de, o sea no exactamente a las 9:00, puede ser a las 9:05 o 9:08. Por eso la traducción que el profe coloca es "para" La película terminará "para" las 9. Es una forma de decir "alrededor de las 9".

El "by" no significa "alrededor de". Si decimos "by 9:00", significa que no pasa de las 9:00.

hola, me surgio una duda, Con FINISH, es cuando algo se termina o se completa, en este caso puede ser la comida o una conversacion, pero tambien parece que se puede aplicar a esto END, cuando algo termina o llega a su fin, con esto puso tambien de ejemplo una conversaciòn, ¿Cuàl sería entonces la diferencia entre ambos casos?

Se decimos que la conversación terminó, es lo mismo. The conversation finished. (La conversación terminó.) The conversation ended. (La conversación terminó.) Pero si decimos que alguien terminó la conversación, no es lo mismo. We finished our conversation. (Terminamos nuestra conversación.) We ended out converstion. (Pusimos fin a nuestra conversación.)

Los profesores no nativos tienden a enseñar la pronunciación basándose en los sonidos del español, lo cual es un terrible idea. "This is" no se pronuncia ni "desis" ni "disis", porque el sonido de la "i" en ambas palabras no existe en español.

# When you have nothing to do with an action, I mean, when you don't force it to happen; IT ENDS OR IT IS OVER BY ITSELF that's when you use the verbs "to end or to be over". # When you you have to do with an action, I mean, when you force it to happen, WHEN YOU DO THE ACTION, that's when you use the verb "to finish". You can use "end" when you don't force the action, but you can also use it to say you put an end to the action.
